Absolutely flawless, highest recommendation!
We enjoyed a lovely lunch in one of my favorite “true Seattle” spots. Although down in the market it does not feel touristy. It feels like the whole restaurant was filled with locals such as us. We enjoyed the falafel, halibut sandwich and an amazing dessert. The pastry chef there is fantastic. Everything was fresh and wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and super sweet. We had a lovely tine.
Good food, however our 2 pm reservation was treated like an imposition. No dessert available, rushed service as “kitchen was transitioning for dinner”. I guess clientele are just an after thought. No one told us this seating meant no fun. Pretty lousy experience. We won’t be back.
One of the best meals I’ve ever hand and the location and view was amazing.
Definitely the best meal I’ve had since moving to Seattle! The staff was super attentive (but not overbearing) and incredibly knowledgeable. We started with the marinated artichokes and the endive and crab salad. For our entrees we had the exquisite seafood stew and the halibut. For dessert, we had the candy bar and some OUTSTANDING strawberry rhubarb bread pudding. Clearly we went in hungry, and we were thrilled at the quality and inventiveness of the food. The only thing we weren’t in love with was the endive- it was light and refreshing, it tasted good, but it was just okay compared to everything else.
We can’t wait to go back! Until then, I’ll be dreaming of the stew.
Great lunch sandwiches, and the pie of the day was excellent!
I had friends from Texas visiting Seattle for the first time, so I wanted to take them someplace that I love and new would WOW. As a local, the Market is my favorite place to wander in the evening, after the stalls close and tourists are gone. It offers my favorite view of the neon Public Market sign from the beautiful arched windows, the bartender is amazing with custom cocktail orders, and the food is fantastic. We shared the best mussels and clams I've had in the city and rest of the meals included salmon, scallops, fish stew, and duck. There we no misses.
We were visiting Seattle and decided to stop here after reading rave reviews. The reviews didn't disappoint. Great atmosphere, food, and service.
Small food portions. High price point that did not seem worth it.
Dinner was great but when our waiter left service declined including no offer with dessert and a long uncomfortable wait at our table at the end of the meal disappointing our evening experience.
This restaurant is an example of why you need to be careful about 3rd party reviews. Zagat rated this place highly; as did several other sights...sorry, but they were wrong or they were there on a night when the kitchen lived up to the hype. The experience was not that special....the fish, plain; the salad, okay; the appetizers, uninspired; the prices, top-of-the-market (i.e. New York lands in Seattle). The positives: nice view out the windows and reasonably good service.
Undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences of our lives! Great views and great food!
Went for lunch during a business trip... wonderful location and view from the window seat. Had a fishwich and it was super tasty! would definitely make this a stop when in Seattle.
Have had lunch and dinner at Matt's and both are always excellent. This time it was lunch and we had the special which was scallops, along with a side green salad (which was big enough to share) Everything was outstanding. We have never been disappointed eating at Matt's.
Matt's in the Market was wonderful as always - food, atmosphere, and service were all entirely on point. Was a great location for a date night!
This place is outstanding..food is excellent...good service...a real gem in Seattle...
Great food and view!
Awesome! This place came highly recommended, and it was well worth the trip.
We were so glad our son recommended having lunch at Matt's in the Market. We look forward to returning on our next trip from California to visit him next year. Loved the mussels and clams as well as the special lamb burger. The ambience was such a lovely contrast to most new restaurants that all look the same. My only complaint is that the restaurant failed to give me my 100 points on OpenTable.
PS Our server Matt was excellent.
The food was very good. The seafood stew was excellent. The hostess was great and got us drinks while we waited for a table since the bar was full. We felt the wait staff could have been much more attentive.
One of my Seattle favorites: very consistent in its excellence.
The service was exceptional!
Wonderful evening with out of town guests. We enjoyed the charcuterie board immensely and might consider just appetizers in the future.
Try the seafood stew. It’s unbelievable!!! Loved the warm, sincere hostess. She made our experience fun.
The food is always great but be sure to save room for dessert, my group shared the strawberry/rhubarb bread pudding. AMAZING.
Great service. Delicious food. Kind service. Highly recommend.
Very good metal.
Difficult to find the restaurant
Excellent Entree and salad
Wonderful meal. Excellent service. Great experience
Love Matt’s in the Market. Our favorite place to eat while visiting downtown Seattle!
No one greeted us when we walked in and they ignored us like we weren’t even there so we finally left.
Super wonderful way to enjoy the market.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays. The food was great, and the atmosphere was festive, also our server was attentive. We really appreciated the great night (despite the threat of rioting on May day)!
Fantastic location with view looking at Pike Place Market sign right out the window. The service was great, explained the menu well and everyone's waters were refilled as soon as empty. The food was VERY good. The shrimp po boy was exceptional, great bread, tasty pickles, and very flavorful shrimp (not fried) with plenty of aoli. The chowder was very tasty but not quite as hot as I would have liked.
The view with the iconic Public Market sign is undeniable - the location is impeccable. But everything else is pretty subpar and less than thrilling... the best part of our meal was our cheese board which was absolutely delicious. The menu is TINY and the items we got were all just covered in salt. The grilled octopus was way too salty, and the halibut - while cooked to perfection - was again covered in so much salt that I wanted to drink a gallon of water after eating it. Our server was super kind and great to interact with, but my recommendation for this place is to get a seat at the bar, order a drink or two and the cheese board & enjoy the wonderful views, but don't waste time on an overpriced dinner you'll leave semi-disappointed with.
We go to Matt's almost every time we visit Seattle. Whether it's lunch or dinner, we are never disappointed. Food and service are excellent.
I love this place! The food is always great! The view is unbeatable!
Visiting Seattle for a few days. I reviewed several restaurants to try. Matt’s in the Market looked interesting. Turned out to be much better than I initially thought. Great service, good view above the market and food was awesome. If I had more time I would go back this week. I tried the grilled octopus appetizer, trout entree and s’mores dessert. WOW!
We love the place...
Lovely birthday dinner. Exquisite service and amazing food.
