Matt's in the Market
Located in Seattles Pike Place Market, Matts in the Market offers fresh, elegant American cuisine. The restaurant sources its ingredients from the Pike Place farmers market and is able to provide a vibrant and seasonally rotating menu as a result. Matts in the Market has a full bar that includes an extensive wine selection.
Start out your meal at Matts in the Market with the deviled eggs or another appetizer like the chips and hot bacon and caramelized onion dip. Choose from entres like the falafel or the market fish of the day. Top off your experience with a delicious dessert like the honey Trinity cream or the pumpkin pie bread pudding.
Truly one of the most memorable parts of our trip. The food, staff and ambiance are absolutely worth every penny. my boyfriend literally couldn't even describe the meal he was so blown away (he is a HUGE Foodie). I couldn't appreciate the gentleman more who refused to let us have the table in the middle of the restaurant because he said we "deserved a better view". It was so beautiful and not something I will ever forget.
Amazing food... simply amazing. Great location and ambiance.
Very accomodating and found us a great table. Great food as usual on our annual business trip. Chorizo and black bean soup is a great side. Miss the pulled pork burger tho.
If you are vegetarian, you have to order off the menu. But what a meal! It was delicious: Charred greens, falafel in tahini sauce, fava beans, and two pieces of toast with a delicious spread on top.
Always enjoy going to Matt's - food and service are consistently good!
Had a great time. Food was delicious and service was fantastic! Will return.
Service was great - menu was goof, a bit limited for lunch (not everybody needs a sandwich at lunch). Food was uneven - an amazing dish of clams and mussels in a Tunisian sauce with croutons, and a mediocre tuna sandwich - even with outstanding St. Jude's tuna. The fishwich sandwich was also a disappointment - fairly mediocre, and the fish was not very tasty. The falafel plate was good, but too heavy on their kind of heavy falafels, and not enough of the lebneh and baba ganoush - and a dash of hummous or tahini sauce would have been good - something to help with the dryness of the falfels. The flat bread was outstanding on this dish!
Overall, because of the service, the ambiance, the celebratory mood we were in - a good time was had by all, but I'm not sure I would go back or recommend.
Also - the wine list pricing was a bit out of control - they had low end wines at high end prices, and nothing below $55 a bottle, which is a bit high for lunch time - there are plenty of places with good wine options for $35 or $40 for bottles. And even in the under $80 category, the pickings were slim and not that desirable. And their mark-ups were clearly out of bounds. I would recommend bringing a good bottle and paying the $25.00 corkage fee - you would definitely be better off going that way.
The squid ink tagliatelle special was the best pasta I've ever had - velvety pasta, just the right amount of heat in the sauce and perfect calamari. Drinks were creative and delicious. Great ambiance.
Food was much more sophisticated than the ambiance suggested. Steamed mussels and clams in Thai broth fantastic
Great food and good portion. Very fresh tasting. The place is in an old historic setting with high ceiling, so it is a bit noisy as sounds carry through.
We’d been looking forward to visiting and have to say it was mistly a disappointment. The oysters on the half shell were mostly okay but two of the six were mushy and unpleasant. The brussels sprouts were the standout dish. Delicious. They were out of sturgeon so topped the salad with what was called salmon shoulder. It was unattractive and a bad combination. The steak was ordinary. Our bread never came. The brown butter ice cream was only partially set. Service was inattentive. Not what we hoped or expected.
Expensive and delivers on promise. Outstanding food, excellent service, nice pacing. Seafood stew is one of the best entrees I have ever eaten in a restaurant.
Matt’s in the Market couldn’t have cultivated a better Seattle dining experience. From the ease of the staff to the richness of each bite, it couldn’t have been more enjoyable.
Matt was a fantastic server.
We had a table by the window and met some friends that were in town from Michigan. Perfect Seattle setting for lunch and great food. Loved it!
We visited for lunch when we were in Pike Place Market. The greeting, service and food were wonderful. The view is awesome (of course). We are looking forward to coming back for a dinner experience next time we are in town.
Our meal was delicious but we admit to ordering a bit on the lighter side as we were blown away by the prices. We’ve been dining at Matt’s since 2002, mostly lunch but often dinner, and it seems that each time, the entrees are more expensive and the portions a wee bit smaller. Perhaps lunch is the better deal - we haven’t been in a while but the catfish sandwich was always the favorite! This time around, dinner prices felt like they included the cost of the rent for a prime location in the Pike Place Market. Like the Seattle housing market, the prices seemed inflated for the “view.”
The staff was amazingly friendly. Helpful in anything we needed. Quick and on time with the food and appetizers. Great experience
Wonderful dinner with fantastic service. Will continue to come back year after year!
It was excelkent!
Matt's is an all time favorite. Love to take a client here for lunch or my wife for a fantastic dinner. The food is really fresh and the service is top shelf! Can't wait to go back soon
Excellent wait staff, great food
Matt’s never disappoints. We brought an out-of-town friend, who felt like a king with the exceptional service. The welcome was prompt, the drinks were timely, the waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and the food was superb. I can’t wait to go back!
Visiting Family in Seattle
Matt's in the Market is my favorite noshing spot in Seattle. Hands down. Make a reservation and take staff recommendations. This place never disappoints.
Lovely view, amazing service, awesome food. Loved how all the waiters/waitresses helped each other.
Always a good lunch spot. I love the cobb salad. Usual ingredients but served with a twist which includes deviled eggs and a yummy chicken salad!
Wonderful food. Raviolo, we wish you were bigger. The seafood stew was amazing and so was the scallops with short rib. They made our anniversary very wonderful. Thank you again!
Fried Brussels Sprouts and Seafood Stew were good to very good. Scallops came out cold and the short rib served with them had less than no flavor.
The seafood stew was very good except for the fish. Mackerel did not work in that dish. Prices are high and there was no extras. The sides served with the steak and shake scallops were very small portions which was fine because it was bland. The scallops were perfect.
The service was excellent and the atmosphere makes it worth visiting.
Ben before and it was fabulous all around. This fine service was SLOw. Took at very least half an hour for chips and dip to be served. Once we got our food, it was delicious as usual.
We were a 4some.
Portions really small. Substitutions made on our meals, without discussing with us first. Didn’t feel welcomed by the server. She seemed annoyed.
Positive: Butterscotch Creme Brûlée was excellent.
Probably will not return.
Great everything. This place is a favorite and we'll always be back for special celebrations.
This restaurant in the Sanitary Market (across from Pike's Place Market) is open for lunch and dinner. We normally go for lunch and the food is always spectacular. You should always make reservations or you may be disappointed; either use Open Table or call.
Great food, interesting, flavor able, good portion sizes.
Very poor service by wait staff. Unfriendly and inattentive.
I’ve been to Matt’s at the Market several times and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is wonderful and the atomosphere is very cozy. Views of Pike Place Market are a plus as well.
The food at Matt's is wonderful, but the wine list is very pricy. Therefore I recommend it for lunch or special occasiosn only now that I am retired.
Great food and service as usual! Love this place!
Matt’s is always our go to when we have visitors in town. We always have excellent service and the most delicious food. The view is just icing!
Love the cozy ambience of this place it has a sort of rustic charm inside but then looks over a beautiful view of pike place market. Very romantic at night and the way it’s set up you feel almost alone with your table, no one is too close. Delicious food, lovely plating and fantastic cocktails.
