Matteo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
We went with another couple for NYE. We had reservations. Our first table we were seated at was so unbearably cold.... right in front of the windows. We were quickly moved, when asked, to a spacious booth. There was a very limited menu since it was NYE. This was not noted on Open Table, nor Matteo's web site. We were excited to try food that was not offered that evening. The food was awesome, our waitress was very attentive and the restaurant is very charming. We WILL be returning!
We have visited numerous times and have enjoyed Mattoes. Not up to par NYE. 4 cpls on New Years. Two meals sent back cold- slow service- mix up on wine variety.
Server and Mgr very good. Shrimp Scampi ( ordered by two people) only 3 shrimp per serving and were like rubber.
I thought the food was authentic Italian food as always. If you're looking for great Italian food please go here. Good mix of families and couples seem to enjoy the place (we went with another couple). They have made nice updates to the drink/wine list over the past few years to extend more drink offerings.
Excellent Service, outstanding food, and beautiful ambience! Lunch portions were perfectly sized and prices were very reasonable. We both had the Mostachelli Bolognase (sp?) and the Bruschetta. Both were perfectly done and the bolognase (sp?) sauce was memorable with the perfect “meat to sauce” ratio. It had been a while since we ate at Matteo’s for lunch...but it’s going “in the rotation” now for sure! Well done, Matteo’s!
Ordered the steak medium. Came out rare. Sent back. Then it came back so overdone it was not edible. They had me order another entree. It was chicken and rice it came out with cheese slices on top that were not even melted. Appetizer was cold. Really not impressed.
Busy Saturday night. Our party if 8 had to wait to be seated despite a reservation. We ended up being seated upstairs along with a large party. Very noisy and trying to carry on a conversation was futile. We’ve been to Matteo’s many times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. Not this time. It appeared the staff was overwhelmed that night. Overall our experience was not typical of what we’ve come to expect. Perhaps Saturday is not the night to dine there?
Wow in some ways much better then last time and other areas it was SO BAD! The BAD wins out again but there were a few rays of hope but not enough.
Who ever feels super garlic and overly spicy dipping sauce for bread should over power the whole meal needs to rethink things!
Why with a very good salad do you get served croutons you find on a Kroger salad bar? Small, hard and zero help to the meal.
Then the big one, dropping great ingredients for lesser ones that just don’t work. Example: Before Prosciutto thinly cut, flavorful, salty just brilliant. Now HAM. Thick sliced , no flavor and just not good.
Stop thinking of you profits serve the best food for the money as Ham is a crap replacement for Prosciutto. Have some integrity improve your dishes not just see what you can get by with!
We love Matteo's and enjoy their cozy atmosphere and amazing food. My husband I and split the 4 meat lasagna, with a terrific glass of a nice blend from Tuscany. The waiter was fun and took special care with my severe shellfish allergy. This is one of our favorites!
Interesting evening... as we walked up there were 3 people outside. On man was eating spaghetti off another mans chest while the lady watched. They were quite loud. Upon entering we realized there was a film crew inside watch out the window for a prank type show. 20 minutes later police arrived and show over. Some guests were very upset over the entire thing. I am guessing not your typical night here.
I was disappointed in that I had 6:30 pm reservations, yet, when we arrived at 6:30 pm, we were told that there was no table available. We had about a 15-20 minute wait. My question is: why did I bother to make a reservation if they weren't going to hold a table?
