Matteo's of Hallandale
Outstanding as usual.
The friend has to bring a good chunk of cash, however the food was great, service was rushed and
the noise level was very high.
Waiter was sarcastic, which didn’t go over well with my elderly parents. In addition, it was my dad’s birthday and we mentioned it to the waiter but there was no attempt to recognize the special occasion at dessert time. Won’t go back.
I would recommend it to a friend that likes large portions. I would recommend to the chef to use more salt in every dish.
As always, really good food, dependable service and a fun atmosphere. Great place for a really casual, low stress, fairly priced dinner. They make over sized drinks and family sized portions meant to share.
Usually the restaurant is noisy inside so we ate on the veranda;although it faces the parking lot it was lovely. The service was excellent, and the food was good and plentiful. The restaurant service large and strong cocktails so our cocktail hour was delightful. We usually have a good time at this restaurant although it's always better when it's less crowded since it gets very noisy in the interior of the restaurant.
the food is meant to be shared since it is abundant!
Too Many people marched around our table getting to the room in the back...it was very
disturbing and there should be a better way to escort these people to their tables.
The best Italian food in the area. Matteos is a very lively restaurant with delicious food. The service is good too. The Veal Francaise and Cesar Salad are amazing!
We have been going to Matteo's for several years and it was always pretty decent.Something must have changed recently because the food was terrible for all of us as well as comments from others that were there that night. I won't be returning unless things get back to normal
Extremely noisy. We’re in back room and all large parties except us. We were 6 people. Couldn’t wait to leave.
We keep coming back and bringing visiting family and friends. Our waiters have always more than pleased our table and our dairy food choices have been so great.
We had wonderful service at Matteo’s. The food is good if a little overpriced. But portions are large so you can get another meal out of your order usually. The only thing I don’t like is that main courses aren’t served with sides. Everything is a la carte and there is no side order of pasta. Also most restaurants when you say it’s a Birthday will not charge you for a dessert with a candle. They did charge but sang a nice Happy Birthday song! The food is good enough to make a return visit.
I haven’t been to Matteo’s in awhile and was quite disappointed with our meal. The only well made item was the Barratta Mozzarella appetizer. My sausage and pasta was not very flavorful or interestingly prepared. My husbands entre was loaded with potatoes which was not described on the menu. I will not be returning since the kitchen preparation isn’t what it use to be!
Birthday Great place! Food is always great and restaurant is beautiful
Exceptional food & service!
The entree was very good and was my dinner AND lunch for the next day. However my calamari appetizer (including the sauce) had ZERO flavor. The saving grace to my family dinner was how above and beyond our waitress services us. I used to be in the dining industry and she is the reason I still have hope for restaurants with such poor food.
Delicious as always
Ele our server was awesome as was Reha at the bar, fun night, will be back
Food was average at best. The service was very good.
Matteos never disappoints! Food is always fresh and delicious. Service is fab. Mike and Eduardo are incredible waiters. All service staff is friendly and helpful. Love this neighborhood place!
The food was very good, as usual. I shared a chopped salad, which was very tasty. My sauteed shrimp over burnt green beans was delicious. The others in my party had chicken, veal and a different shrimp dish and everyone enjoyed. We were sitting next to two large birthday parties, so the wait staff was quite busy. We had to ask for a refill on the bread four times until it was brought to the table. Other than that and the noise level it was a great meal! Will definitely go back.
Great neighborhood restaurant with very good service. The food is well prepared too.
Terrible service. The food used to be much better. An italian restaurant out of Limoncello???
predictable as we have been there many times.I guess in this day and age that's actually pretty good
Food was ok but wasn’t very hot....way toooo much cheese on everything!
Food taste pre-prepared!
Not as good as it’s been. Chicken parm was hard to cut, breading was too much.
One of 4 main courses came cold. Returned to be reheated and arrived as all other guests were almost finished eating. String Beans were burned on the re-heat. If we didn't have guests with us we would have made a bigger scene and returned the meal.
Ordinary italian mediocre food. Waiters need to go to school to learn manners and how to serve people. Not throw the food on the table. Some waiters are so old they should be home in bed ! Huge turnoff. Will never return
Have been coming to this restaurant for many years but have not been back for six months prior to this visit. Meal was very disappointing when compared with previous experiences. Food quality has significantly deteriorated as has the overall dining experience.
Arrived on time for our Opentable reservation. The hostess seemed surprised to see us. Found reservation and said it will be just a minute. 20 minutes later I ask again how long it will be and again has no recollection of my reservation. Apparently closed it out without giving us a table. 10 minutes later we were seated. It was a busy night and hopefully the explains the very slow service. Finally got to order about 30 minutes later. Waiter was professional to the point of being rude. Looking around while you’re trying to order or ask a question. Short answers suggesting “what a stupid question”. Oh well. Food came and was good. Shrimp and clam pasta was good. Chicken parmigiana was large and tasty. Fettuccine Alfredo was good. It was also very loud. Hard to even carry on a discussion. Overall good food but probably won’t be back. Too much work. Dinner should be relaxing.
I really don't know how this place gets such a big crowd and rave reviews - we were here on a Thursday evening. There are many more tastier traditional Italian restaurants in the area with better value and flavor, and great ingredients. Also when you go here for a nice evening, I also expect a certain amount of service. First, we tried to put in appetizer order and the server says "the chef is very busy and we need to put in the whole order, appetizers and entrees together." That just seems weird, so we waited until we all knew our entree choices. Next when you get a wine refill, they take your glass from the table to the bar, meaning you have to ask for a refill when your glass is completely empty. They didn't refill at table, or just come with a new glass. Their policy of not having a small side of pasta included with $30 dishes like chicken parm/veal Francese or whatever your specialty, is also very weird, as traditionally dishes at reputable restaurants would serve a small side of pasta. The side of boiled penne pasta BTW is tiny and $8 extra, and not homemade or anything special. I asked for capers with my Francese and that was $2 extra for about 9 capers. Their tit-for-tat type of attitude on certain things is not welcoming or in-sync with Italian hospitality at all. I would highly recommend Cafe Vico in Fort Lauderdale, or Il Mercatino, Il Mercado in Hallandale, or Sardelli's in Hollywood.
Our favorite Italian restaurant. Great service and great food!!
We waited for an hour for food- with a reservation! We have been to the restaurant many times before in Florida. Never have we had to leave after not getting our food! We have there children who did not eat dinner. Just not acceptable.
I was excited to take my daughter there for the first time. She lived it!!
Food was great, people watching great
Noise level a bit high but worth the delicious food
Always delicious. My go-to place for great Italian food. The bartender makes the best cosmos too!
A great vacation find for us. Will be back.
Branzino was tiny over cooked for $40 Disappointing. Chopped salad was excellent Waiter basically laughed off the small fish portion
Service was slow, our server Ricky, did not come to our table too often, He didn’t tell us that there were any specials. It was one of our birthdays, and he said he would take care of us and he never dead, and we had to keep asking other waiters to get us water bread or and our bill
One of my favorite restaurants celebrated my birthday here two years in a row
