Matteo's of Hallandale
Grossly overpriced ($20 for a zucchini app...what?; ordered what was on the menu but given a “large” size without being told or asked). Pork chop had no seasoning and pastas were ok. Service was unattentive and uncaring. Pretentious and over priced.
always excellent and done well. food and service great.
Best Italian restaurant in the Hallandale area. If you like old fashioned Italian, garlic and large poetions...it is the best. Always enjoy dining here.
We had a wonderful time and everything was superior
Food not as good as usual.
Our favorite place for celebrations or just dinner. The food is always consistently amazing and the service is excellent. Being true Italian this food is authentic
Outstanding .... We will definitely return soon !
Go for it, you won’t regret it !
WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Don't go - you will be treated terribly. The worst service in years. First - the air conditioner is broken. So after we complain they say there are fans in the back - it's worse in the front where the door opens -so we ask why did they put our 4 some with a reservation at the hot spot? I asked for a fan - not once, but twice and do not get one. We all said that the server wanted to be anywhere but there. His attitude was very poor, such that after 3 of the 4 received our appetizers, we waited close to 10 minutes for my wife's stuffed mushrooms - only for the crust to come out burned - charred. Then when dinner arrives - again 3 of the 4 arrive and my wife's dinner (who ordered the same meal as another person at our table) is not delivered for another few minutes - so all our meals waited again. As to the quality of the food - my wife's appetizer was burned - too which the server disagreed, but both my wife and my taste buds knew it was burned - my Caesar salad had way too much cheese and not enough dressing. As to our dinners, my Rigatoni Bolognese was dry and was served without a dab of ricotta. My wife's premium shrimp over spinach was not well prepared. The spinach was cool while the shrimp were served in a sauce over the spinach with the tails still on, so one had to get their hands dirty to eat the meal. As to desert, the only ice cream they had was vanilla, which was offered with chocolate syrup, which had more sprinkled on the dish for effect then over the ice cream. My wife did receive her desert at the same time as the rest of us, but it was the first Biscotti eaten that was not only heated but burned. Then, if the service and dinner couldn't get any worse the server and the manager either screwed up processing my credit card or tried to charge me twice. And then argued with me when they could not produce a void receipt. CAUTION - STAY AWAY
It was too hot in the restaurant tonight. We love Matteo’s but can’t go back until the A/c is working better.
food is authentic and excellent. we had a nice evening
had a nice dinner with a friend, including a meat and cheese board, and two of the crave prix fixe menus. the place was nice and clean and family oriented, but the cooking was average.
Service was exceptional, great waiter gave good suggestions and was highly attentive. Food hit on all levels. Enjoyed the angle hair pasta with bologonese. Claim in red sauce were amazing and the coconut sorbet was the best way to top off the evening
Was in the area visiting friends and they suggested dinner at Matteo’s. Old school Italian food served by very a very skilled staff. We shared the calamari appetizer, chicken parm, family size eggplant parm and meatballs. All of our selections were good, but nothing special. Our server was very good as he plated our selections individually for each of us. The restaurant space was nice with the tables not so close to each other. I enjoyed my dinner and would go back the next time I am in the area.
The atmosphere is very cozy and the wait staff is friendly and attentive
They are Consistent with their food which is excellent!
We prefer Hallandale over Boca which is very loud and crowded!
From the moment we walked in it was a very pleasant experience. Reservations were honored on time, service was attentive and we were not rushed. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. We had mussels, bruschetta, Caesar and chopped salad, veal chop, gnocchi, chicken and eggplant parm and chicken francese. Then finished it off with cannolis, brownie sundae and tartufo. Sangria was good as well.
Dinner and service was fabulous!
Food was amazing! Great service!
We liked very much
Always good food at a reasonable price in a lovely restaurant
Food great, service great. Only thing we didn’t like was they sat our group of 5 on a 4 top.. we asked the hostess and she said the other 5 top tables were booked.. they were still available by the time we finished. We did make a late reservation but if there isn’t a table to accommodate 5 then I shouldn’t have been able to book it
I have been visiting you 5-10 times a year for many years. I made the first online reservation. I had important guests. we were given a table between very small people and no place to move. We were forced to eat, they said there was no other table. your place next door was empty but closed. When we want to eat calamari and squash fry very bad and old fats were made. my guests and I were not very happy. my guests were coming for the first time, I think they never come again. I wanted you to know.
Good food, friendly service, ample portions. Not outstanding, but good!
Family style Italian
Always the same. Always excellent.
Always great food and service
The hostess was warm, welcoming and accommodating. The waitstaff was very attentive, courteous and professional. The food is delicious, all of which is why we return!
Greatfood and service
the food was fine, service was very good, and it is confortable for us to go there,it is a friendly place
This is a high end pricey Italian restaurant. In my own estimation, I believe the prices are too high. The food was okay, but not exceptional. The roasted vegetables were cold. The waiter forgot to bring the sauce for my main dish (snapper) which was supposed to be on the side. My cola drink was never refilled. The shrimp dish we ordered seemed fried which we didn’t realize from the menu. The waiter was pleasant, it he seemed half asleep and was not very attentive. The wine list was moderately priced. The salads were overpriced. There should be a dinner salad you can order with an entree without having to spend a additional $14. I was very underwhelmed by the food and the service.
Good restaurant great people amazing food I meet the chef Luis young and good guy I really recommend this place
Always great service great food great ambience and consistent
Excellent food as usual. Our waiter seemed a bit upset that we did not order the larger family size portions, but was otherwise helpful and attentive. Enjoyable family restaurant, reasonably priced for the quality of the food served.
Michael was our server and he was wonderful. I Had chicken ultima, others at the table had eggplant parm, shrimp, and veal Marsala Chopped salad and Cesar salad are great. Love this family style authentic Italian restaurant. Chef Brad really has been great, he’s so talented!
We were expecting to have a lovely dinner to celebrate mom’s birthday with friends. Service was slow and food quality poor on 3 out of 6 entrees. One was so bad it was removed from table and taken off bill. I understand there’s a new chef, but no excuse for this experience... especially at the price. Will not be going back.
I love Mateo’s and the food is always good as is the service!!!!!
It was extremely delicious!!!
Had a great time with friends who have never been to Matteo"s
All & all, I have had good experiences at Matteo's. Unfortunately, we waited an hr for our dinner as there was a Graduation Party beside us. We finally just asked for a check & the Manager brought out our food but cold. 4 of us ate the cold food & one sent it back to be heated.
