Matteo's of Boca Raton Ratings and Reviews
Jimmy was our waiter. He was awful. He should seek another career. Management tried hard and the food was excellent. Waiter over ordered for our table. He didn't cater to us. Asked us to pass plates, brought pasta and main at the same time and brought the bill without knowing whether we were done or not. Too bad. I'd go back without Jimmy as my waiter.
We had a large group and thought it would be a great place for family dining. Before we went i happened to see the reviews about the poor sefvice and experience of previous diners. I was very worried that we would have a bad experience as well. But, the friends i was meeting said not to worry about the reviews. OMG. The reviews about the bad service were undermining how bad it was. Our first servor took the whole order and somehow dissappeared. The second waiter tried to rip us off by insisting we order more and padded our check. The attitude is worse than the service. The food is just ok. Very pricey. There are too many places here to go where the owners and staff are appreciative of your business, food better, less noisey, and better priced. There is no reason i would ever go back nor the other 7 i was with.
We were there on Christmas Eve. Had 7:15 PM reservation and didn't sit down
until 9:15. Didn't start eating appetizer until 10:15. Drinks had to be remade 3 times - couldn't get them right.
They obviously overbooked and couldn't accommodate so many people. Although the food was good - would not go back on a holiday night - may try again on a normal Sat. night.
We dined there on Christmas Eve. We had a party of nine. With reservation. Our friends were about 20 minutes late and the hostess initially refused to seat five of us even though we arrived when they opened and the place was empty. The manager stepped in and she came and got us.
The food is very good, however the service was not so great. We were told we had to order everything at once since food is made to order. That meant appetizers and entrees. I’m assuming this was because it was a busy holiday. Our waiter seemed annoyed that we wanted to space it out. We over ordered as we enjoy doing...but he forgot two entrees after waiting 40 minutes for it to be made. They brought the two forgotten meals much later. The food was very good, the bread and wine was also good. It got very crowded by the time we were finishing. We decided to have coffee and hot tea. I think this annoyed the waiter as he did not come back at all after he gave us our tea/coffee. That put a damper on our opinion. If they had better service it would have been a great experience.
One of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Second visit this week and we were very satisfied with food and service. Salads are always good - chopped or Caesar. Shrimp oreganata was excellent. Pasta with meatballs and sausage was delicious. Just the right amount of tomato sauce. Chicken sorrentino was another good pick. Napoleon for dessert was good. Cannoli was delish but a little small.
As usual Matteo's was delicious but I really dislike feeling like cattle...There really is no ambiance and the food comes out rushed at you, which we did request but they were late bringing it....They were told that we had a show to catch and the kitchen was probably too busy.
Asked waiter for pasta with butter side dish for granddaughter (12 yrs.) and said they do it only for 3 year olds. Wanted to charge $19. For this. Pasta bolognese came out small with very little bolognese. Chicken Matteo was also tiny with big price. Asked for all white meat but said they wouldn't do that. Doesn't pay to order half size portions because they are only a small serving and not much less money than full Used to love this restaurant. Very expensive..
The restaurant has been completely redone since we were last to Matteo's. It needed some sprucing up, and they did a god job. It is bright, clean, spacious and very pleasant.
As always the food is delicious....just about all the food. Can't think of a criticism. The
portions are huge ( even the 1/2 size portions). Especially good is their marinara sauce and eggplant par,. And of course any pasta is heavenly, especially the Alfredo.
The service at the restaurant was sub-par, we waited a good 30 minutes for someone to take our order and then appetizers and entrees came out at the same time. We placed a dessert and coffee order, they brought out the desserts and the bill but not the coffee...another waiter had to retake the coffee order, which by the time it had come out, dessert was finished. We went here to celebrate my daughters high school graduation and was extremely disappointed with the very loud environment (could hear the person sitting next to you) and the poor level of service provided. Food was excellent, but can not make up for the poor service, and extremely loud environment. I will not be back.
We were a table of six celebrating my nephews visit from Colorado. We waited 1 hr. to get our baked clams appetizer then another 45 minutes for our entrees. This was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was half empty. I told this to the manager and he blamed it on the waiter instead of an apology. They didn't even offer dessert or coffee to us. Won't go back.
If you go out to dinner with friends, seeking the opportunity to talk and relax, don't go here. The tables were jammed into one another and the noise was unbelievably deafening! I literally could not think straight and looked forward to the check. The food was good, but other places serve good food with about 1/4 of the noise. We couldn't wait to get out of there. They wont't be seeing me again.
We went to Matteo's for a family dinner. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us choose our food since the food is served family style. Even with his assistance, we had plenty to bring home! Everything was well prepared and tasty. Great place to go with a group so you can order more of a variety of menu items. We will return.
On a Wednesday evening we had reservations for 7:30 PM. We arrived at 7:30. The desk told us to wait there because we would be seated next. 45 minutes later we gave up and went to the bar - still not seated. Without a word, the manager/owner whisked by two minutes later and told the bartender to not charge us for our cocktails. A nice gesture, but a brief conversation as well would have been appreciated. Waiting for nearly another 25 minutes to see our waitress, etc............not classy at all, and classy is what we usually expect at Matteo's, so the evening clearly did not live up to expectations. This was all unusual I believe, at this restaurant.
