Matteo's of Boca Raton
Good music on Monday night!
We were 2 minutes late checking in for our 5:15 reservation and the snotty receptionist told us that now we’d have to wait our turn after 3 tables without reservations were seated first. We had an 85 years old woman in a wheelchair and after the wait at the valet to park we were 2 minutes late. But really???
We were seated about 6:15 at a table that had been empty since we arrived at 5:17.
We waited another hour for our food some of which was hot and delicious and some was cold.
Service was awful.
Dessert and cappuccinos took another 1/2 hour to serve after we ordered it and the cappuccinos were watered down and terrible. I can’t remember ever sending back a cappuccino.
No sign of the manager in all of this.
Food is good, portions loud
Service was a bit slow and busy noise
The service was wonderful. The food was great and plentiful. It was pretty noisy.
Always great food! The chopped salad is so delicious!
Have been here many times. Today, the octopus was very dry and the shrimp scampi was very bland. First time I have not raved about the food. Was very disappointed.
Dinner with out of town friends moving to Florida
Extremely loud, very busy place. Not a place to be able to converse. Servers look distraught and seem extremely unhappy and reflects bad performance. Would not intentionally go back.
We were eight people seated immediately on an early Saturday evening with reservations. Bread and water were promptly served. We ordered a bottle of wine and some drinks that were brought to the table in a timely fashion. The waiter, a young inexperienced fellow, poured the red wine dripping it on the table cloth. We were not as annoyed at the waste as we were at the drippings on the table. We proceeded to order salads and were not advised that we had over ordered. When we placed the order for main dishes, again the waiter made no suggestion as to portion size. We ended up taking home two shopping bags filled with leftovers. Very unnecessary. We have been customers of Matteo's for many years and are accustomed to waiter's input as to how much food to order. When a restaurant serves food family style diners need guidance.
It’s a food staple when going to Boca. Excellent 5 stars
The very best restaurant in Boca, food, service all outstanding
Matteo’s is the best of everything.
It is our most favorite restaurant
Took some business associates to dinner and they recommended Matteo’s. We arrived early and got to chat with the hostesses, Bartenders, owners...pretty much the entire staff. I think we were the first people there that night. The entire staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. The place quickly filled up but they held our table for us even though one of our guests was late. The food was solid! Fettuccini Alfredo that was incredible and almost “light” if that’s possible! Meatballs and sausage were spot-on in Nonna’s Ragu. Chicken Milanese and Francese we’re both fresh and tasty. Finally - the flaky, light dessert - Neapolitan?? Was spectacular! I love this place - and I was raised in an Italian family that ran family restaurants. High quality, authentic, and a lot of “pretty” people a la South Florida. Forgot to mention that the service was solid. I’ll be back!
Birthday dinner , waiter Jason was great, food delicious lucky it wasn’t a crowded night there.
enjoyed service We did sit at the bar and it was not busy and it still took very long to receive cocktail, also they didnt have my mix for my drink.
Great food Just a fun spot for dinner with friends Highly recommended
Service was outstanding. Food was good, but not excellent. Eggplant was bitter.
Food was awesome. Service was also great
Are table was ready for us
Service was poor as no one came iover after 15 mins. Cm lemon chicken dried out and salmon tasted bland. Burnt broccoli very good.
Always a wonderful meal and experience at Matteo's. The noise level is a bit hard when trying to talk among yourselves, but that's because the place is always hopping with people. Try for a corner table instead of middle of restaurant. Service was impeccable and food delicious as always.
The hostess didn't realize she sat us at a table where the server's shift had just ended. The busboy brought plenty of bread and water but no server for 20 minutes. Gregory stepped-up and not only found out what went wrong but explained the situation to us and turned it around making our visit truly memorable and satisfying - THANK YOU GREGORY! It only takes one word to describe everything about Matteo's - AWESOME!
Moved from Miami where there is a Matteo's which is my favorite Italian Restaurant there. The Boca Matteo's is a bit different being slightly more upscale. The Noise level is high but so is the energy level. The food is excellent and I will wait for another two or three visits to decide if it is better or worse than the Hallendale location.
The food was ok—I’ve had better; I’ve had worse. But the service was not good. Maybe they were understaffed on a Sunday night after a busier Saturday night, and I have no idea how large our waiter’s station was...I do know that several of us had served ourselves before the waiter came to assist, I waited for water refills, and we waited for our check at the end.
Everything was great. Really the only problem was our server did not come back frequently enough to fill the water glasses. We were parched while eating our meals with empty water glasses.
Always fast, great service. And great food!
Overall excellent. Food was wonderful!
Birthday celebration and it was special!
Always reliable we bring all our out-of-town guest there can always count on a good meal at Matteo’s
From the service to the food, The evening was perfect! We will definitely be going back on a regular basis!
Good family style Italian food in Boca Raton. Consistent food and enjoyable. Great place to go with a group and share a number of items. We enjoy their baked clams and other dishes. Lots of food and we usually have extra to take home and enjoy again.
This is a premiere Italian restaurant, that’s why it’s usually packed. It’s authentic Italian food delivered perfectly. Enjoy.
Worth the money
Really enjoyed the Chopped salad, Eggplant Rolitini , Shrimp Parmigiana and Tartufo for desert. Service was excellent, very noisy as usual since it is the Best Italian Food in Boca Raton. Entrees are very shareable. Enjoy!
I would not go back. Too noisy. The food was not good. It was too crowded. We liked the waiter.
Waiter was exceptional — extremely helpful
Ravioli was so undercooked, could barely pierce it with a fork. 2 of us asked to send it back to be recooked which was responded with a visit from the manager who was less than gracious in his response. Would never go back again or refer anyone else to try this restaurant.
We go quite often and The food is always good
It has gotten way too noisy and the last few times The waiters have been too frenetic
After two good experiences with a friend, we had a very poor experience at Matteo's. It all had to do with service. From the time we sat down it was an hour and 10 minutes before we received any food. When we did, it was the entrees, not the appetizers! We sent back the entrees and asked for our appetizers. After we had our appetizers, they brought out 5 of the six entrees. Being courteous, we waited for the last entree to arrive. It didn't until after we appealed to the person who appeared to be in charge. After several more minutes, the last entree was brought out. Let me be clear about how long this took, the last entree was a good 20 minutes after the others. The pasta under my shrimp oreganata could be lifted up in a clump for 2 reasons, it was cold and had almost no sauce on it. We asked for sauce more twice and never got it.
This is a very popular and busy restaurant. Do you have to know someone to get reasonable service? We have never had an experience quite this bad in a restaurant. The poor service ruined what we hoped would be a great meal with friends.
There are 6 of us who will never go back.
Honestly it started out bad. We had 8:15 reservations, we are a same sex male couple, and not one but two parties of two were seated ahead of us! My husband had already pointed them out to me that they came in at 8:25 and wanted to be seated by 8:30 while our reservation was at 8:15 and we were still at the bar! Then they both get seated ahead of us, upsetting my husband so he leaves then the lady at the desk ignores me and turns to another customer while I demanded to speak to the manager. I don’t pull the gay card, we are not like that, but it’s strange that we are passed over by not one but two good looking straight couples! The manager then rushed over to apologize and offered us a table which we accepted and honestly it was worth it because the waiter was excellent, the food was excellent and great portions to boot! Other then the fiasco by the incompetent staff, the place deserves a decent review as they owned up to their mistake and the food was worth it! We will be back and it shows to stand up when you feel like you were ignored! Our wine was comped, but that was not the point, the point was the manager realizing us being upset and treating us like the paying customers we are! They deserve five stars just for making a wrong a right!
Staff and management cannot handle large crowds of customers. 8:15pm reservation we were seated at 9:15pm. Then it took 25 min for a waiter to look at us only after we went up to a manager or owner and complained. Great food but they are not cut out for customer needs. No reason to go back. We rather fly back home to New York twice a year to get Italian food with smiles and care.
