Matt the Miller's Tavern - Carmel Ratings and Reviews
Food was great and great beer. Only issue was they sat us in the corner behind a pillar that was about 2 feet from our table which blocked view to entire restaurant it was a really awkward table location. It also took a long time for a server to come to our table. We had to ask for a server to come over. Probably due to not being able to see our table.
Atmosphere was great for Valentines Day, service was great, some food items were excellent.
I ordered the pan seared walleye at $22 per waiters recommendation and my love be for fish.
It was pathetic! I received two small fish stick size pieces that were 3”x1”. The waiter actually brought extra sauce for them. Hahaha!
I may get a burger if I ever return?
We made reservations and upon arrival our table was ready. Our server was very personable and energetic. She was very knowledgeable on the menu items and attentive to any needs at our table. Our meal was delivered as ordered and was quite delicious.
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Food was wonderful all around the table. Chicken tenders, fries and fruit for my granddaughter. Bacon burger and fries for myself and the Walley, asparagus & sautéed mushrooms for my guest Courtesy of BIRTHDAYPAK gift certificate. What a great partnership. Brandon seated us & David was our server. GREAT guys!
Happy to see gluten free (sensitive) menu although it seems not all staff are familiar with the gluten problem. It's not a 'fad' in my case,I am a celiac and it is a serious matter if a meal comes with a bread roll sitting on it ! I should have sent the plate back but time was short and I decided to eat around where the roll had been, with fingers crossed. Our server was extremely pleasant and did say she would make kitchen staff aware of the need to handle gf orders appropriately. The location is perfect for the Palladium.
I do not like to write a poor review, however, recently, a friend of mine and I had Sunday Brunch at Matt the Miller's Tavern. I was a buffet, except for the gentleman who made waffles and omelets. My friend waited for an omelet, and it was good, not great. The buffet items were cold, the eggs benedict looked miserable. I had over-cooked scrambled eggs and we both had biscuits that were raw in the middle. The servers were disinterested in the guests other than collecting the tab. Would we go back? No.
The bar was very crowded when we arrived at 7:00 but we were able to obtain beverages easily. We were celebrating a birthday with a table of 6. Our server Debbie greeted us promptly. Debbie was warm and engaging with a great sense of humor that added to the enjoyment of a celebration dinner. The food was good. I had the walleye dinner which seemed slightly small on portion size, but it was good. My husband and I have eaten here many times. It is a great place to go before a Palladium event!
Food was decent, but not great. I had the sirloin and asked that it be cooked medium-rare. It was closer to medium well. My wife's salmon was very good. Next time I will ask that the steak be cooked to a rare temp to see if my definition and the chef's is simply different. Front desk staff was pleasant and efficient. The server was better than average and the drinks from the bar were fine.
The main issue was that we were seated in the pub area in the back and there was next to no heat. Our server said that it had been on air conditioning (on one of the coldest days of the year) and we'd have heat momentarily. We never did. Every table seated down there had to wear coats through their meal. A manager could be seen talking about trying to set up space heaters, so they knew about the issue, but never made any communication to us about it. Matt The Miller's is our go to restaurant, but this was pretty poor customer treatment.
They seated us all the way in the back where there was no heat. It was 8 degrees outside so we ate with our coats on.
This was our annual New Year's Eve restaurant (for the last 3 years).
We will choose something else next year.
The food was just ok this time.
