We love to dine here because both the service and food are very good. This is one of our favorite spots!
I went there for Valentine’s Day. Great atmosphere, service in general. The sushi was very tasty, the rolls were tastier the more I ate them. The costumer was on point, will definitely be back
The food never fails to deliver!
We are sushi snobs we are from NYC and LA and for the most part we dont enjoy Baltimore sushi . This is an exception. The Hamachi collar was outstanding
Delicious Sushi place with a large menu for much more than just sushi!
Came here for the first time for lunch on Friday for restaurant week! The restaurant appears to be Cantonese-owned. Very friendly staff. Interior is cute and has about 5 four-seater tables, so I'd recommend making a reservation on OpenTable at popular times just to be safe.
For the better sushi, if you're choosing between Brothers Sushi and Matsuri (they are 300 ft from each other), pick Matsuri. Both have Happy Hour sushi roll prices; I think Brothers is cheaper, but their rolls are definitely not as good as Matsuri's. I had the crispy spicy tuna roll, Ocean Breeze roll, and Volcano roll.
I was satisfied and enjoyed their sushi, but honestly none blew me away. I thought the crispy outer coating on the rice in the crispy spicy tuna roll was unique. The Ocean Breeze roll had abundant mango sauce that tasted a bit like a mango smoothie if that's your thing. Volcano roll was baked and creamy, which I enjoyed. The amount of rice was too much. Good green tea mochi ice cream. Standard miso soup at nice temp.
All in all, decent sushi for the city. $15 restaurant week was a deal considering the original prices (which are high in my opinion). I probably wouldn't come back because of the higher sushi prices, which may be standard for Baltimore City. I'd say it's worth the drive nearby to Ellicott City, Elkridge, or Catonsville for better priced and better quality sushi.
Food and service was very good. Only downside was the club music/atmosphere at the bar next door.
Great neighborhood spot. Great sushi and cooked items. Bento box was great
Good service, delicious sush
Very good sushi. The octopus balls had a mushy texture and little flavor.
Great service, amazing food. So much fun. Nice little sushi place that had everything you could want. Menu is very extensive and very tasty! Can’t wait to come back for more.
Matsuri never disappoints. Ever. The Happy Hour menu is a great way to take care of that sushi-vice itch w/o breaking the budget, on your way to a happy Buddha-belly. The owner (Bill), his experienced rollers/kitchen/staff are always eager to make your night out exceed your expectations. No wonder they've been going strong for 20+ years in such a competitive environment.
Best Japanese food in Baltimore. Great, friendly service.
Service was attentive and fast. The food was good.
There is enormous variety on the menu but it felt as uf things were ore prepared and not made to order. It was about 4 stars but certainly not 5
As always, delicious and fresh sushi and sashimi. Favorite Japanese restaurant in Baltimore. Frequent diner of Matsuri.
Taste was good
I am a frequent diner here. Fresh food. Always leave satisfied.
My family and I love it here! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! 5stars all around!
We were seated upstairs and were actually the only people up there for a bit which was nice. Unfortunately, a table of four drunk folks were seated next to us. They were cursing and being quite inappropriate. We had children with us and were celebrating our daughter’s birthday. The evening turned out to be a disaster, as my husband asked these young men to watch their language and one of the men was being antagonistic. Since the rest of the upstairs was open, I’m not sure why they needed to be seated right next to us.
Small neighborhood restaurant - good food with interesting selections
A great small gem 24 seat restaurant that is a fabulous find.....
Always outstanding food, presentation & service along with warm hospitality.
Went with a friend for Restaurant week special. Value was incredible - regular pricing is a good value for the high food quality. We will definitely be returning.
Went to this Japanese restaurant because of Baltimore's restaurant week and reading the open table reviews. The food and service were simply outstanding. A great place to go to at any time of year!
The only place that had 100% recommended reviews.
They sat us at a really wobbly table. We had to then show them how terrible it was...ans then sent someone out to fix it up. Barbeque shrimp was good. I ordered the rib. It wasn't good at all. It came on top of whipped sweet potatos... I assumed they be on the side. I am one of those people who hate for certain foods to touch. You could tell that the rib was cooked twice as it was extremely dry. The waiter didn't even notice that I gave her a full plate of dinner.
I've had better.
Matsuri is a neighborhood gem. Sushi is fresh and upstairs seating is fun. Service was great, glad we ventured outside of our usual apps and tried new items recommended by the server - wasabi dumplings are awesome!
Great for sushi
Food is really good but if you don’t have a reservation the staff will treat you like garbage
As always, outstanding artistically presented food, excellent service and warm hospitality.
Fresco rico excelente
Muy recomendable para los amantes del pescado !
WE had a very nice lunch. The service and the sushi were great.
Really enjoyed myself and had a great time. Food came out in timely matter. Very friendly server and the management was great.
Definitely a must go again for me.
We went for my wife's birthday, who loves sushi. The sushi itself is fantastic and the staff was quick to refill our water. The ambiance is not the greatest and could definitely use some aesthetic updates. They do not have coffee at the restaurant, which I thought was odd.
They gave us the Tempura Cheesecake on the house for my wife's celebration, which was delicious.
Delicious food. We enjoyed the curry. The only thing I would comment is that The grilled calamari on the menu “Ika Yakitori” is not “grilled” As written in their menu. It’s basically boiled squid rings top up with tempura sauce. It was bland, as can be imagined. However, the sushi was fresh, and the Ramen soup was flavorful and rich. We would eat here again.
Fantastic. Exactly what I was hoping for when we walked in. Small place, but puts you close to the sushi chefs. The sushi rice was really, really good in the nigiri. Highly recommended.
Everything taste so terrible here
Everything was great .....thank you !!!!! Service was fantastic the waitress we had was wonderful I enjoyed the atmosphere my family had a wonderful time the food was superb I would recommend this restaurant again and again as a matter fact I will return thank you very much
Visited for restaurant week, can't believe we'd waited this long to try here. Excellent food and service.
Really great sushi. We are regular sushi eaters and were really impressed. Liked the round table upstairs with a lazy Susan
