Horrible service, overpriced avg sushi
A little too crowded but a great meal. Stellar sushi!
Restaurant was loud and our server was slow and never checked on us.
All of guests were happy. Soup was fabulous. Yellowfin Tuna awesome. Bento box delicious.
In Aspen to celebrate a family birthday! Wonderful dining with excellent service and delicious food!
We had a memorable experience. We completely splurged and ordered Wagyu A5 beef, king crab tempura, sushi combo, black cod miso, and eggplant miso. Everything was beyond delicious and the service was great. It's so awesome not to be disappointed when going all out on ordering the expensive dishes. Definitely didn't regret it. I'm telling you, that Wagyu A5 beef though, I'll be thinking of it for a long time to come. I hope to have it again some day...
Food was good. Creativity mostly with the entrees and not as much with the appetizers and desserts. Our waiter was attentive. Two complaints --- a server picked up one of our appetizer plates with food still on it to take it away without asking if we were finished. As she was about to walk away, I told her that we were not finished. Instead of placing the plate back on the table and apologizing, she just asked who wanted to finish the appetizer then handed it to them and took the now empty plate. My second complaint was our shaved ice dessert. We were given the options for the available fruit syrups that could be placed on that dessert --- Strawberry, Passion Fruit, Green Tea and Blueberry . Last year we had Blackberry syrup with crystalized ginger. I asked if that was still available. Our server went to the kitchen to check and came back to our table and told us that it was available and I requested that flavor. The dessert arrived and there was no ginger. At first I thought that I was just missing it in my first several bites then realized that it was not there at all. For a restaurant listed as $$ ($20 for a small skillet of cauliflower), I would have expected that the price would include outstanding service.
Amazing. Simply amazing.
This is one of the best Japanese sushi restaurants I've experienced . The sashimi and sake were enjoyable. With many traditional sushi picks and some surprise new sashimi plates. My wife has never been a sushi lover, but the experience at Matsuhisa has change that. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Excellent as always - it is expensive but worth it for a nice occasion.
Maybe it was off season - yet very average experience. You expect everything you order to be great...fair to poor is how I'd best characterize the food Sat. night.
Everything we ordered was out of this world. Great service as well.
Fantastic as always. Fun with a group to order lots of small plates. Yellowfin with jalapeno table favorite.
Quality was not to their usual standards...very disappointed in the food..shrimp was watery...crispy rice was hard as a rock... vegetable tempura was not fresh.. only the cod was eatable..
...from start 2 finish, all aspects of a great dining experience were achieved! the off-menu crispy spicy tuna was so good, we ordered more...AND the passion fruit shave ice is a MUST dessert!!
Goff was just OK with the exception of the new style sashimi .. that was best part . Signature black cod dish was over cooled , sent back and second piece was also on edge of being cooked - pieces were too thick on general and sauce was thick and too sweet.
Service with Elizabeth was great !
Overall quality / value not impressive
The food was overall pretty good but the wait staff was definitely ready for the off-season and when you're paying about $100/head it's hard to get excited about coming here again...
This restaurant doesn’t do anything fun for birthdays? That’s a big miss as this was the first restaurant I’ve ever heard of that doesn’t do anything fun or complimentary for a birthday. No one is entitled to anything free, but it was lame of this esteemed restaurant to do nothing for one’s birthday. The food was great though!
The fish was over cooked. The sashimi not the freshest and not the quality we are used to from nobu .
my most favorite restaurant in aspen! could eat there every night I'm in town!
We love and look forward to going to Matsuhisa every year when we are in town. They accommodate my sons food allergies. The service and food are beyond compare. A special thanks to David the manager for making us feel so welcome. Can’t say enough good things about this long time Aspen establishment.
Amazing as everything Nobu, great food.
Great restaurant - but...
One of the worst experiences with a coat check ever.
We couldn’t find our claim ticket - for reasons to be explained.
We accurately described our coats down to the monogram.
Response from girl: “that’s not how we do things here”
When another person in our party approached, the coat check girl says: “I gave it to her”
So she remembered giving her our ticket but not use giving her our coats? ..
I also didn’t realize she would freely give someone else a claim ticket for our coats... complete attitude.
When trying to tip her - have her a ten asked for 5 back - she also responded: “that doesn’t do anything for me”
Girl needs an adjustment
Serious black eye for a great restaurant.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. I highly recomend this restaurant. The Uni Shooters are the best that I have had. The mochi desert should not be missed.
Yum yum yum and $$ but well worth it
Always Fab! Loved the black cod, yellow tail and tuna toro! So accommodating!
Due the the group size (6) we where able to order 12 different dishes. It was an outstanding culinary experience.
We love Matsuhisa, every time we are in Aspen we make sure to go. Be sure to have reservations, it fills up quickly. Food is always amazing and service outstanding. The atmosphere/decorations are lacking, but the food and people watching make up for it.
After many visits to Matsuhisa over several years it is arguably the best restaurant in Aspen. We have always been impressed with the food. The menu offers a wide selection with outstanding seafood options. This is the best east meets west fusion style we have experienced. Suitable for all occasions.
I kmow many Nobu’s in the word and this is one of the best.
Great option !
Choose a set menu for a perfectly balanced meal of unexpected delights
Very disappointed with the food which was underwhelming and the presentation the same.
Had 4 courses and not one of them was anything that one wouldn’t get in a a local suburban JAPANESE restaurant.
Not a good advertisement for Nobu.
The best food against which all others should be compared is Kisume in melbourne Australia which is 10/10 on all counts.
This was a magical experience. We were able to meet Nobu himself. He was warm and genuine. I was really touched my his kindness and open heart. A once in a lifetime experience!
Way overpriced, fish quality was good, not worth the money.
Excellent food, fun ambience.
As always, excellent food and service. Personally, I like the sushi bar best. The noise level is lower, it’s more relaxed, and we like to talk to the sushi chefs about the fish.
Fantastic-as expected! Simply the best, consistent Japanese available. Besides the artful offerings and quality fish, the appetizer teriyaki shrimp and tenderloin skewers are the best we’ve ever tasted.
One of our favorite Nobu restaurants. Sooooo good and worth every penny.
This restaurant offers outstanding Japanese food but is badly let down but the shocking service. There is no lack of staff but most seemed to just stand around rather than take orders or deliver the dinks/food. Prices are on par with the location and quality of the food. We felt rushed out the door after we spent 2 hours and quite a bit if money here. Overall not a pleasant experience.
