We were in town for our Anniversary. We love high quality seafood/sushi and I saw this had many fantastic reviews. So glad we went. Delicious and our server was great at recommending items and taking more that a couple photos of us!
as always, an excellent experience. very good food, drinks, and service.
Food was good but not as good as the hype. Same as any mid to high priced sushi restaurant anywhere in the US
One of my favorite sushi restaurants anywhere. Great food. Great service. Filled with energetic and fun-loving people. The atmosphere can not be beat. Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Aspen, and the entire mountain west.
Sushi is excellent as expected but
the asparagus salad was awesome.
The Lamb chops with the Peruvian barbque is a must.
The sliced fillet also in a delicious sauce was fantastic
Can’t wait to go again
This was our first time visiting Matsuhisa & we will definitely be back! Our waitress, Ally, was amazing! She gave us recommendations that were 100% on point! Everything was so fresh & delicious. I can’t say enough good things about Matsuhisa!
Loved the new style sashimi, especially the yellowtail and salmon. We weren’t especially crazy about the black cod. It was too sweet for our taste and definitely overpriced. The shiitake mushroom salad was delicious, as were the tempura vegetables.
Wes (behind the bar) was amazing!
Lovely and as always amazing food and exceptional service
Tasty food. Extraordinary wine list. Reliable place. But it could use a facelift and an updated menu.
I like Matsuhisa very much. We always have a delicious meal with great service. I think the prices are way over with those should be.
All-around good Aspen experience. Soft-shell crab was as good as one can find.... very tasty and just the right amount of crisp. The Miso Caramel cake and blackberry ice-cream is a must. Service was impeccable.
Really enjoyed my seat at the Sushi Bar.
Great service, food, and ambiance. Highly recommended.
The service was great. A little noisy. Crispy tuna rice was disappointing but the sea bass and Sushi rolls were great. Definitely will be back... just wasn’t blown away.
Excellent food. Pricey though. We enjoyed a number of courses, but then decided to get a slice at New York Pizza. 😀
We were in Aspen for our 8th Wedding Anniversary and our son recommended your restaurant. The food was incredible, the seating was fun, especially being outdoors in August on such a beautiful night. The service was great as well. I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys sushi!!!!!
Miso soup & sashimi dinner very good. Chicken teriyaki dry. Nobu sale delicious. Housemade ice creams great: pistachio & green tea best
I have eaten at this location multiple times as well as the Cherry Creek location as well. I am never disappointed though this time I was celebrating with a friend over our recent hike and the service was impeccable. We had the grand tasting omakase and it was delicious. Will definitely be back every time I visit Aspen.
We sat at the sushi bar to see the action. Specials were amazing. We jumped right into our typical sushi experience, but that is not the right way to go at Matsuhisa. It is best to stitch together specials and recommendations from the server. Our server was spot on and everything we ordered was great.
Super disappointed. Sushi was sloppy looking and too warm. They only pay attention to the Gucci crowd- meaning our reserved table was in the back, terrible location and we had to ask for our server 4 times before he came over to take our order. Once the order was delivered we wanted additional beverages- which took 3 request to get the server over. Mostly, the food was not up to par. Two stars barely.
Why didn’t I get my points for this evening? We checked in and we’re there for at least three hours…
Great food. Wish server explained menu and tapas style
Much too noisy and frenzied
Food satisfactory not memorable
We were late for our reservation thanks to the I-70 traffic. I called the restaurant and our table was waiting for us. Our server was excellent, when we first arrived we let her know that we were anxious about getting to a show and she said she’d let the chef know. We actually then asked to slow down the service because the dishes were arriving so promptly.
We ordered the Omakase chef’s creation menu. It was fantastic. The Wagyu beef was impeccable
Really impressed with the knowledge of our server- she was great!
Fantastic sushi. The best I’ve had anywhere. Great service too.
As we were there for a special occasion, unfortunate that we were surrounded by kids which ruined the ambiance- just would have appreciated if someone asked as we were there early Enough with a lot of empty tables that we could have been seated somewhere not in what seemed to be the “kids” section for such an expensive meal. Certainly changed the ambiance.
My family had a great time! Food was exceptional.
We had big expectations going into this restaurant since it was my first time to Matsuhisa even though I’ve been traveling to Aspen for years. I had never gone before because I figured it’s the exact same as the Nobu chain. Well, it is the same and probably not as good. I don’t understand the hype. Yes, it’s tasty, but it’s Nobu, so it didn’t make it as special. On vacation I prefer new dishes than the same ones and flavors from that at home. The crowd was fun and the service was nothing to argue. We would go back, but more for the environment not the food.
We always love this spot!
The service was amazing and the food quality and visual display was the most beautiful and artistic I have ever seen. Thank for making my 70th birthday dinner the most lovely and perfect experience I have ever had. From the perfect dress and polite demeanor of your staff to the artistic food presentations, elegant but fun dining is alive and well. Thank you! Please maintain all of your great qualities. Sincerely, Ms. Gerry A. Lozano
Great food and vibe, we always come here when we visit. Overall not so family friendly unless you come early and sit in the back.
Horrible service. Done with Matsu. Way too many other good places these days and service must meet price.
We had to take food to go bc it took so long compared to other food. and he forgot some of our order.
Never came to check on us. Bus boy was on it way more than our waiter. Was a painful experience.
I love the food at Matsuhisa but the noise level is intense. Worth it however to have the Salmon New Style. WOW.
Best sushi in town.
Big fan of Nobo Aspen! Always consistently delicious!
Simply put: it’s not worth the premium price. $500 tab for what would have been $200 anywhere else. Decor is dated and cheap; servers are trying to hustle patrons through quickly; menu is simple.
Amazing dinner. The quality of the fish is amazing. Only proble is the Uni is great and we went ttwice and they had run out.
La mesera me trajo la cuenta sin pedírsela cuando tenia todavia mi comida en la mesa y botellas de vino sin terminar !!!!
Se me hace una falta de respeto ademas el restaurante no estaba lleno!!!
Best meal in Aspen!
