We let our server, Ben, guide us every step of the way with what to order. He did a great job and we loved everything that came to the table. The Somm recommended a great bottle of Sauv Blanc. It was delicious and paired very well with our meal. We'll go back for sure!

Incredible dining experience every time! You can’t go wrong with simply choosing from their popular dishes (ask the waitress). Enjoy!

Matsuhisa Vail never fails to satisfy. The staff are attentive and helpful, the menu extensive, and the food extraordinary. Lovely view out the window that dominates one wall of the room. All-in-all a wonderful experience

We go to Matsuhisa on every visit to the Vail Valley! One of our fave restaurants ever! Had an amazing assistant server but lead server was only mediocre on this visit. He barely checked in to see how we were doing and his description of menu items was really lacking.

We had an amazing dinner experience. We had a family style meal and enjoyed sampling many different dishes. Our favorite hands down was the golden snapper sashimi. Our waiter was excellent and provided knowledgeable recommendations based on our preferences.

The food was not as good as it used to be, or maybe it was soso because it was Monday and maybe the chef was off, who knows. We ordered one of our favorites, tempura king crab claws, it was not tempura by any means.
Hopefully was just a bad day.

Our server was nice but the overall experience was just so lackluster. I definitely won't be coming back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food was just really underwhelming and everything we ordered tasted bland. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, yet they sat us in direct line with the door, so every time it opened we had a draft. Not sure why they sat us there when literally every other table was available to us. Overall this restaurant just isn't worth the hype, seriously save yourself from a bad meal.

Always a favorite when in Vail! My kids want to sit at the sushi bar to watch Alex and the other sushi chefs work their magic. The knowledge of all the servers and staff is exceptional! We will be back next year.

Wonderful ambiance and professional service. Very fresh fish artfully prepared. Certainly the best sushi in Colorado. Only minor criticism-the sushi rice was a notch below ideal compared to their other outpost in Denver and other very high end Japanese restaurants, as if it had been cooked too long. Otherwise everything was perfect.

The food and service here are fantastic! If you’re looking for a really nice place for a date night, I definitely recommend you come here.
We shared the Spicy tuna crispy rice and shishito peppers to start, and then enjoyed lamb chops and the lobster tempura — the lobster tempura was amazing!

Food was not as good as usual. I’ve been many times and this was not up to par.
Service was not very attentive this evening.
We had to keep asking for more tea while sitting for a while with empty cups.

Been here several times, always great!! I really like the unusual dishes you may get from the sushi bar as well as the great variety of tempura crustaceans. The cod is also a must here. My drink is the sake tk40, smooth, aromatic and balanced.

The menu had plenty of options for a family already comfortable with sushi and Japanese food. And the food was good. But the portions were really small, and priced 25-30% Higher than similar dishes at high quality restaurants in Chicago. The dishes were hyped by the waiter, such that every dish didn’t live up to the description of what we expected to get. We also were surrounded by large tables (20-30 people) of families, and the noise level was really loud. Underwhelming experience.

The menu is often overwhelming but we made really good choices with help from the knowledgeable waitress.. Everything was presented well and delicious. Maybe you can't go wrong at Matsuhisa? Our table was tucked away in the corner by the window and away from the draft of the front door. Definitely recommend the miso cod, the Japanese eggplant and the bento box dessert if you still have room. All my favorites every time but leave room for trying other delicacies. I always enjoy an evening at Matsuhisa.
