The food was not as good as it used to be, or maybe it was soso because it was Monday and maybe the chef was off, who knows. We ordered one of our favorites, tempura king crab claws, it was not tempura by any means.
Hopefully was just a bad day.
Our server was nice but the overall experience was just so lackluster. I definitely won't be coming back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food was just really underwhelming and everything we ordered tasted bland. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, yet they sat us in direct line with the door, so every time it opened we had a draft. Not sure why they sat us there when literally every other table was available to us. Overall this restaurant just isn't worth the hype, seriously save yourself from a bad meal.
Worth making the reservation well in advance! The chef never disappoints!
The food was excellent. However, I found the wait staff dis engaged and slow.
Tempura was battered too heavy and undercooked inside.
Always a favorite when in Vail! My kids want to sit at the sushi bar to watch Alex and the other sushi chefs work their magic. The knowledge of all the servers and staff is exceptional! We will be back next year.
A Must when in Vail!!!
Matsuhisa has become an annual destination during my ski trip to Vail/Beaver Creek. It is consistently good and one of my trip highlights.
We took the multi course prix fix choice and it was outstanding in ever way.
Hostesses at front desk not all pleasant, both of them. Otherwise the rest was fine.
Wonderful ambiance and professional service. Very fresh fish artfully prepared. Certainly the best sushi in Colorado. Only minor criticism-the sushi rice was a notch below ideal compared to their other outpost in Denver and other very high end Japanese restaurants, as if it had been cooked too long. Otherwise everything was perfect.
Felt like they were trying too hard.
Simply wonderful. Beautiful restaurant. Fabulous food.
Antonio our server was fabulous! He was knowledgeable with the menu and a pleasure to work with.
caring, authentic team, beautiful meal, impeccable service
The food and service here are fantastic! If you’re looking for a really nice place for a date night, I definitely recommend you come here.
We shared the Spicy tuna crispy rice and shishito peppers to start, and then enjoyed lamb chops and the lobster tempura — the lobster tempura was amazing!
Food was not as good as usual. I’ve been many times and this was not up to par.
Service was not very attentive this evening.
We had to keep asking for more tea while sitting for a while with empty cups.
Quality of food was not worth price tag.
excellent service, ambiance and dinner. looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you
Been here several times, always great!! I really like the unusual dishes you may get from the sushi bar as well as the great variety of tempura crustaceans. The cod is also a must here. My drink is the sake tk40, smooth, aromatic and balanced.
The food is great but I really enjoy the wine list and visiting with Andres the sommelier. He always makes great recommendations!
The menu had plenty of options for a family already comfortable with sushi and Japanese food. And the food was good. But the portions were really small, and priced 25-30% Higher than similar dishes at high quality restaurants in Chicago. The dishes were hyped by the waiter, such that every dish didn’t live up to the description of what we expected to get. We also were surrounded by large tables (20-30 people) of families, and the noise level was really loud. Underwhelming experience.
FABULOUS MEAL! This was my second time here and the food was outstanding! The king crab tempura was extremely tasty!
It was okay but fusion fees not worth the enhanced food experience. The staff was nice but it was too loud and too costly. Beautiful setting .
The menu is often overwhelming but we made really good choices with help from the knowledgeable waitress.. Everything was presented well and delicious. Maybe you can't go wrong at Matsuhisa? Our table was tucked away in the corner by the window and away from the draft of the front door. Definitely recommend the miso cod, the Japanese eggplant and the bento box dessert if you still have room. All my favorites every time but leave room for trying other delicacies. I always enjoy an evening at Matsuhisa.
Amazing restaurant! Fun, lively atmosphere. Great for celebrating or just a fun date night . Food is delicious and service is wonderful!!
Absolutely the best sushi and sake I have ever had.
We always look forward to eating at Matsuhisa - we know it will be fresh and yummy. They are always able to accommodate my gluten free diet.
Outstanding food with impeccable service! Highly recommend.
You can't go wrong with Matsuhisa! I've had the good fortune of dining here many times and it always wows me. The ingredients are spectacular and the service is spot on. We even had a non-seafood guest who was thrilled.
Booked our reservation through open table and received confirmation. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation. Could not accomadate us at our reserved time, so the only option was to sit at Sushi bar which had zero ambiance and faced a kitchen wall. Food was good but not great for the price. Overall not a great dining experience.
The food was incredibly and unnecessarily salty, not comparing at all to the quality of the food at Matsuhisa Aspen or Nobu in NY or London. A disappointing experience given the Matsuhisa name.
Food was phenomenal and the drink was one of the best I've ever had.
Service was very attentive however the food was spotty. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Some of the other menu items were just fair. They forgot to bring some items and didn’t take our order properly. We sent back the mushrooms basically untouched. They had no taste.
Very Nobu, everything was good, but no wow food in our choices. Black cod lettuce cups were the most successful.
The food was perfect. Sat at the Sushi Bar. Loved all of it!
Awesome food selection, Omakase is fantastic. Service is great.
Fantastic service. The waitstaff was amazing and full of great recommendations. We enjoyed everything!
