Food was not as good as usual. I’ve been many times and this was not up to par.
Service was not very attentive this evening.
We had to keep asking for more tea while sitting for a while with empty cups.

Been here several times, always great!! I really like the unusual dishes you may get from the sushi bar as well as the great variety of tempura crustaceans. The cod is also a must here. My drink is the sake tk40, smooth, aromatic and balanced.

The food is great but I really enjoy the wine list and visiting with Andres the sommelier. He always makes great recommendations!

The menu had plenty of options for a family already comfortable with sushi and Japanese food. And the food was good. But the portions were really small, and priced 25-30% Higher than similar dishes at high quality restaurants in Chicago. The dishes were hyped by the waiter, such that every dish didn’t live up to the description of what we expected to get. We also were surrounded by large tables (20-30 people) of families, and the noise level was really loud. Underwhelming experience.

It was okay but fusion fees not worth the enhanced food experience. The staff was nice but it was too loud and too costly. Beautiful setting .

The menu is often overwhelming but we made really good choices with help from the knowledgeable waitress.. Everything was presented well and delicious. Maybe you can't go wrong at Matsuhisa? Our table was tucked away in the corner by the window and away from the draft of the front door. Definitely recommend the miso cod, the Japanese eggplant and the bento box dessert if you still have room. All my favorites every time but leave room for trying other delicacies. I always enjoy an evening at Matsuhisa.

You can't go wrong with Matsuhisa! I've had the good fortune of dining here many times and it always wows me. The ingredients are spectacular and the service is spot on. We even had a non-seafood guest who was thrilled.

Booked our reservation through open table and received confirmation. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation. Could not accomadate us at our reserved time, so the only option was to sit at Sushi bar which had zero ambiance and faced a kitchen wall. Food was good but not great for the price. Overall not a great dining experience.

The food was incredibly and unnecessarily salty, not comparing at all to the quality of the food at Matsuhisa Aspen or Nobu in NY or London. A disappointing experience given the Matsuhisa name.

Service was very attentive however the food was spotty. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. Some of the other menu items were just fair. They forgot to bring some items and didn’t take our order properly. We sent back the mushrooms basically untouched. They had no taste.

The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. Unfortunately, the bottle of white wine we ordered was served at room temperature and wasn't able to be mostly chilled until nearly the end of the meal. When we brought it to their attention, the staff did apologize but did not offer to bring out a glass of wine or something while we waited for the wine to chill (for the next 20 minutes).
I'm not sure if it was just because this was off season, but should have been noticed before the bottle was brought to our table.

Fabulous from the start to the finish. Service was spot on, friendly and knowledable. The menu may be a little difficult to understand at first but your server will guide you and explain any dish to you perfectly. Every dish was perfectly balanced and the sashimi was some of the best I have ever had. We will back!

Always enjoy our visit to Matsuhisa. Noise however is sometimes an issue coupled with the background music. Too acoustically competitive. Otherwise the best food and service!!

The food is good to great, but even though there appear to be 3 people waiting on you, you still feel as if no one is waiting on you. When you ask what comes with a meal and you are told, "Nothing." But there are things you can order such as rice and yet no one says anything until they are picking up the plates and then they say, "Oh, yeah, you could have ordered rice, most people do." So, Asian Cod was fantastic and would have been even better with rice.

I’ve been go Matsuhisa a few times. We did the tasting menu for $45 which was a great off season deal to try. We also had the lamb chops which was a great additional appetizer to the tasting menu. The lamb chops were spicy with Peruvian type of spices. The sushi was all fresh as expected from Nobu. The only thing we didn’t care for was the steak on the tasting menu - it was nothing special. The crab leg was delicious though. The dessert was amazing. Thanks for a great night!

Just an absolutely incredible experience celebrating my girlfriend and my anniversary. We were a little intimidated by the menu, I didn’t want to miss out on any of the amazing specialties by picking dishes I knew, so I put all the pressure on our waitress. She came through, and more. She picked out 6-7 sushi dishes for us, each better than the last. We had an unforgettable meal, one I know we won’t soon forget.

Matsuhisa in Vail does it again! Just an absolutely brilliant meal. They were super accommodating to gluten sensitive eaters and the quality of the food was on par with the finest Japanese restaurants anywhere.

Highly recommend!!!

With all the hype that surrounds this Vail staple, we were thrilled when it lived up to it's reputation. Fantastic waiter that was well versed in everything on the menu from cocktails, wines to all the food and the specials that were offered. There was so much to try so we took our server's suggestions on several items and they were some of our favorites! Hope to make it back!

Outstanding dinner!! This was our second night in a row and everything was perfect from start to finish. We met the GM of Matsuhisa/Vail (Jordan) who was extremely nice and very attentive to everyone in the restaurant. He set the tone for a terrific evening. We had multiple courses and each one was delicious. Our waiter Antonio was excellent. Every year when we come from California to Vail we make a point of coming here. Matsuhisa is always first-rate!
