Food was amazing. Service excellent.
Service was terrible we waited for 20 minutes and nobody came to our table until I asked. Dessert was slow in coming as well. On the nigiri plate of the omakase dinner was a piece of cooked shrimp (I.e. cheap-O). Would not recommend, will not be back
We chose Matsuhisa as a special place to celebrate with our family. Everyone greatly enjoyed their meals; even our most discerning palate, that of our 2 year old niece, seemed to relish every morsel.
Excellent experience- will definitely try dinner next time
Great and pricey
The host was welcoming and warm, I went to the bar to wait for my party. The barstaff told me of the evenings features and some stories of Chef Nobu, and before I knew it I had a delicious drink in front of me. The sushi bar excelled by putting delicious bite after bite out for my friends and I.
Great food options. Lots of choices other than straight sashimi or sushi. Service a little stressed. Sushi chefs helpful in explaining choices.
Alison at the bar is the absolute best. Great drinks, fantastic recommendations and makes the experience that much better!
Annual Family get together
Great service. Great food.
Outstanding as always. Food was amazing, as well as the service. Matsuhisa is a special experience, every time.
Foods are fantastic! I brought my guests, they really enjoyed the dine at Matushia. We will have the dinner plan at Matsuhisa again.
We asked to sit at the sushi bar because we wanted to show the birthday boy how it was made. Everyone was so kind and extremely welcoming. A wonderful meal.
Had a lovely time with my wife. We enjoyed the food very much! Thanks!!
Every dish was executed to perfection. The ambience was wonderful casual chic but classy! super cool that Dave Chapelle was there tonight.
This place was foodie heaven! We had the hot stone Kobe beef and it was literally the best we have ever had. The extensive menu caters to all palates. We had the cod lettuce cups and seared toro sashimi. Also had the Himachi collar. It was all fabulous!!
It is easy to get to and has underground parking attached. Definitely a favorite for us.
From being greeted by the fast and friendly valet, to the seating in a perfect table for our special occasion, the service was excellent.
The team that waited and bussed our table stayed on top of many courses we ordered, and made recommendations that were each outstanding.
Definitely, my favorite restaurant in Denver. The price can be high so we don't dine here quite as often as I would, still the food and value, service and atmosphere are excellent.
The restaurant is beautiful and we were able to have a conversation and hear one another. The food was very good, however, our service - not so great. Our waitress just seemed checked out/uninterested. Things were technically good; water was refilled, drink orders taken, but at some point that seemed to stop (I was never asked if I wanted another glass of wine once the meal was winding down). Then, there was the bill. I understand when a restaurant doesn’t do separate checks (although, at this point in time, I think it’s kind of dumb since there are a lot of really easy apps to make that happen super efficiently and effectively, but ok), but when I’m shelling upwards of $150 for just my meal, I don’t feel like I should have to do the restaurant math, and I really don’t feel I should have to deal with attitude from the waitress! First and last time at Matsihisa! I’ve had better experiences and value at a number of other restaurants and pretentiousness is a huge turn off here.
Matsuhisa is our favorite restaurants but I felt underwhelmed this trip. The food was amazing, the service was ok, and I didn’t have a warm feeling leaving after spending $311 on 2 people.
I had indicated on the reservation that it was a birthday and requested the sushi bar. When we arrived the sushi bar was packed, but with several gaps, and we were denied. I could tell people were poorly sat, and there were at least 3 open seats. There were also 2 4-tops in the area open, but we were denied there too because they were supposedly held for a party of 8... no one sat there. We agreed to the table over a 45 min wait for the sushi bar.
When we followed the hostess, she first wanted to put us on a 2-top pillar on a tight corner. When we looked disappointed, she did offer us a 4-top, which we appreciated because the 2-top wasn’t in a good location. Despite my requests and my patronage to the restaurant, there was no sincere attempt to accommodate us. I did appreciate the 4-top but this experience was negative compared to the spectacular meal 3 weeks earlier when we brought a friend and his client and spent over $750 on 4 people.
On the service: we were given water immediately and the service attendant did an amazing job of being attentive. Other than our 1st course dishes not being cleared when the 2nd round came, The food was as amazing as expected, but one of the reasons why I come to Matsuhisa is the experience of new things. Keoski’s recommendations are what made my wife and I huge fans of the team. I have always had amazing service/communication with the manager, the waiter, and the chef (at the bar), and I didn’t get that experience. There weren’t any attempts to recommend anything interesting. There was no mention of my wife’s birthday or anything that made the experience special.
On the way out the door, we weren’t acknowledged by the 3 people at the stand. At least the car valet recognized us and was so gracious. I give everything a C+.
Excellent in every way!!! Pricey but worth it! You can’t find a better Japanese restaurant with fresher sushi..
Can’t say enough positive things about the food and exceptional service.
Our server was lovely, but the overall flavor and general experience was not as impressive as one would hope given the fame of the chef associated with the restaurant.
Perhaps this was a function of what we ordered, but everything at a place like this should be both exceptional and entertaining and I felt that there were a few missed opportunities in the dishes we selected for our evening.
Love the sushi at Matsuhisa, best in Denver! The service there is phenomenal as well. Will be dining there again!
We went for a late lunch. Great food, service was excellent, and restaurant was very quiet. Bento boxes were outstanding. We look forward to returning to try other items on the extensive menu.
It is always a pleasure to be a guest at Matsuhisa...our Family always requests a visit when flying in to Denver.
Your wait-staff is outstanding...courteous...thoughtful and patient with our lengthy decision making process. There are so many delicious choices to be made. That in itself is part of the adventure of dining at Matsuhisa.
Your chefs and plating staff are artists in their own right.
Thank you for coming to Denver.
Expensive and not anything special. With so many other great Sushi/Japanese restaurants in Denver, I think this place is an easy pass. This place is very expensive and the flavors were only ok, not great. I've had much better food from other places for much less. In addition, our serve was very awkward and not helpful. We explained that due to health reasons, we were not interested in spicy food. He then went on to recommend items that were spicy so we had to remind him that we would not want it. Also, his recommendations were just not all that great. We followed his suggestion and got a mediocre overly vinegary mushroom dish and then ignored him on another item and it turned out to be our favorite sushi roll.
We were curious to try this place but for sure felt like it was a big waste of money as there are much better options in Denver.
Wonderful evening.....waiter was so helpful. We loved everything
Expensive but worth every dollar$
Amazing as always!
Loved the recommendations and the food. Ambience was lovely. Everyone thought it was a perfect birthday dinner. Thanks for the great experience!
The beef was hard to eat and the other plates extremely spice 🙁 I used to love the food there but this last times was awful
By far best Japanese place in Denver. For people who don’t know what to get: start with the edamame, then go for the Creamy Spicy Rock Shrimp, Chicken Gyozas, Salmon Skewers, Soft-shell Crab Spring Rolls (the aioli is amazing), the Miyazaki Beef cooked on Himalayan Salt Rock, and 2 of any roll. Everything is to share, and will never disappoint.
Definitely one of the finest Japanese restaurants I have ever visited. The service and food were outstanding but I must say the prices were extremely high.
Exceptional. Finally something to rival Sushi Den in its quality although they are quite different experiences.
The food and the service were amazing!
One of the best experiences we’ve had at a restaurant, and hands down the best sushi we’ve had! Would 100% recommend
Never disappoints. Just love dining here, every time.
Our sommelier was awesome. The server perfect and food to die for!!
If you’re going just for sushi this probably isn’t the place to go. Price doesn’t reflect taste too often. Ive Found a lot better at mid-grade sushi places that aren’t so focused on being fancy and imported ingredients. That being said, if you like traditional Japanese dishes and the nigiri/sushimi lone fish slices, they have some pretty interesting options.
Fantastic as always!!
The ambiance was wonderful and the food was delicious, but the wait staff is unparalleled. Everyone was friendly and very accommodating. I can’t say enough about how the waiters and waitresses really made our whole experience incredibly enjoyable!! I highly recommend Matsuhisa for any special occasion!
