Tonight was my wife’s birthday, but there isn’t a better place in town. It is our go to sushi place, nothing else compares. Another night, a fabulous experience. Sean, the sommelier, picked out yet another few bottles that blew us away. Hands down the best food, service and wine in the city.
By a long shot, the best sushi and Japanese food in Denver. Nobu hits it out of park -- from the traditional to the 'new age' -- all of his chefs have a love for the food and you can taste it.
Excellent as usual. Best sushi in Denver. Expensive but well worth it. Amazing service, atmosphere and food
Most dishes were wonderful and very fresh. The service was below what we've experienced at similar restaurants.
The staff is amazing and the food was over-the-top.
First, the food and service are excellent. But - a business that is this expensive that does not pay for the valet parking is suspect in my opinion. $7 . . . $10 with tip. Come on. Upon leaving the restaurant this small issue always rankles me. Most every other high-end restaurant in Denver validates parking or just has free valet. It is not the $10, it is the principal of the thing after spending so much on dinner. We have eaten here a number of times, and lately I have to question my choice. The last meal on Sunday the 12th was for three people and it was $666.00. We had four at our table a few months ago and it ended up being over $1,000, both amounts I stated included the tip BTW. Excellent food and service, but even trying to be conservative, the bill always ends up exorbitant. BTW - no wine, strictly a few cocktails.
Great food and great server - highly recommend. Perfect food recommendations and server was timely and professional during a working dinner.
We've dined at this restaurant a few times, and it is normally fantastic. Unfortunately, this night was not one of those nights. The service was very poor. They changed waiters on us three times. The service was choppy and intermittent. Overall, it felt as though they were trying to rush us out even though there were still other folks dining. If I were looking to offer them an excuse, it would be the private party they had going on in a private room. However, they had tons of staff running around an empty bar. That said, I put the blame directly on the management. They were either not present or not paying attention. Our dining experience felt very much like a two or three star restaurant.
If I could afford to eat here every day, of be one happy lady! Amazing food. Incredible service. Love the ambiance.
The food orders were a little slow this time and we never receive one of the orders until we were requesting the check. I still love to eat at this place and believe it is one of the best in Denver, but they had an off night with our table.
denvne out a very few places in Denver where you get high quality sushi and the prices reflect that.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable to all the dishes.
Great for a special occasion and expect to drop some coin, but it is worth it.
Loved the atmosphere-- Japanese and California combined. I had a great table for two. The food was artistic and delicious. Loved the California rolls and the tempura and the sparkling water and the moshi for desert. The waiters were nice and I like it how they say welcome to my house when you enter. Great valet parking and loved the water fountain in the entrance. My only complaint was the restrooms.
Birthday party. It was great
Phenomenonal sushi. An exceptional dining experience all the way around.
Customer for life. Consistently an amazing experience! The food and service are always, always top notch! The absolute highest compliments to everyone involved at this restaurant!!
We love Matsuhisa. The food is amazing! Their house wine is very close to the best Chard I have ever tasted.
Beautiful space, delicious food, great experience. Our waiter gave us the choice of giving a price range and letting the chef send out whatever he thought was nest based on our taste. It was the perfect amount, always a fun surprise and so worth it. Would highly recommend!
We did the six signature Nobu dishes and they were amazing! The presentation and service was impeccable. I would go back every day if I could. I highly recommend this restaurant for any date night or gathering.
Great food. I highly recommend the Sea Bass and Cod, but be aware they nickel and dime you for everything. $6.00 for extra sauce on shaved ice desert suggested by the waitress. We had no idea it was extra. Expensive even for a bowl of white rice. It's a good meal, but not worth the price.
The food was ok. Way over priced. I was a nobu the night before in NYC and it was less than this place and better
Bartender Alison was fantastic. Great knowledge of the menu, made thoughtful recommendations and maintained a perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. Bento box was fantastic!
This was outstanding. Sean had great wine recommendations
Missed the mark on Saturday night. Food quality wasn't normal for Matsuhisa. Spider roll crab meat was soggy and weird. Sushi was below average and didn't seem fresh. Took 15 minutes to get water, it actually showed up AFTER the appetizers showed up. Drinks were slow too and the place wasn't that busy.
This was always one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. Seems like they are missing a beat right now.
As a sushi lover I think that as long as the quality of the fish is great anything more is an unnecessary expense.
Trying to do too much to a simplistic dish is just eye candy.
service was very good until it got busy then our waiter seem to forget about us.
Spending a lot of money for great sushi is what we always do, so the overpriced experience is what we knew we were getting ourselves into. It wasn't a surprise as much as it was a disappointment.
Wonderful food. Great service. Expensive, but we knew that when we booked.
Food is of the highest and most exacting standards. Fish is so fresh. The best sushi in Denver.
Best dining experience I’ve had in Denver hands down!
Took some good friends there had a terrific time
Even though there are tables next to you, we had great conversation and didn’t notice the people talking at the next tables
Food was outstanding
Best Lamb I’ve ever had!
Maybe the best restaurant we've eaten at in Colorado. Creative and fantastic.
Absolutely incredible quality of food and drinks. This is a great place to eat that even has a few “only in Japan” style dishes but mixes them nicely with the creative drinks and ambiance. Great waitstaff too!
Matsuhisa at 1st & Steele is a well-designed space for enjoying excellent food and service. The noise level is especially pleasing in that quiet conversation is possible in the midst of a filled-to-capacity room. Our favorite dish was the sea bass, but we enjoyed all of our selections. Our server, Stephen, was especially helpful in making recommendations for us.
We enjoyed celebrating our daughters birthday. We put our faith in our server to order our appetizers, entrees and sushi, and she nailed it! We couldn’t be more grateful.
I’ve been there three times and I always feel ripped off.
It was delightful to introduce an out of town guest to your wonderful restaurant. Dinner was superb.
Amazing! Wonderful! Fantastic! Magnificent! As always!
Super average service , a bit surprising actually
Best restaurant I have ever been too. Food was fantastic, service was fantastic, ambiance was fantastic.
I love the bento box lunches. The food is delicious and service is excellent. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and quiet. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Denver.
Outstanding traditional sashimi and sushi dishes and a number of unique presentations. This is my go-to spot for business dinners and upscale date nights.
The service made the lunch disappointing. Loved the black cod other things were lack luster. For these prices I expect the waiter to be on the ball, however this was not the case for me.
