We went on Valentine's Day and the food was nice, but the service was mismanaged and slow, and the value you were getting for what you were paying was very poor. Probably will not go again.

Valentine’s Day at Matisse. Service good. Food good. Prix fixe $75. À la carte not available. How hard would it be to let us know in advance? Not hard. One point off. Appetizers very good. Short rib excellent. Scallops unimpressive. Desserts very unimpressive. Another point off. Value for money seriously lacking, even for Valentine’s Day. Sorry you lost a potential repeat customer. Was it worth it to make (more than) a few extra bucks on Valentine’s Day?

Went for lunch; chicken tasted and smelled 'wet'. It was served with a side salad, both the chicken and the salad were covered in the *same* dressing. Come on people, make some effort! Place looks nice, however there is only 1 unisex toilet on the main floor, with inadequate ventilation.

Unfortunately, I ordered the special of the day--bouillabaisse. The seafood in it was fine but the sauce was a total disappointment. Sort of like tomato soup and water with no flavorings. I regret that I didn't send it back. ( I had had the same dish at La Diplomate a few weeks ago and it was memorably delicious!) I would give the restaurant another go because I think this was an aberration. We were there for lunch and it was totally quiet, service fine. Enjoyed seating near the fireplace. Chocolate mousse cake was wonderful.

This old standby of mine is always a standout. It never fails to deliver--the ambience is lovely, the food is really spot-on, wine list is large with a great variety, and the service was absolutely top-notch. Somewhere the owner and management are keeping a firm hand on the wheel, and I'll happily remain a frequent guest.

The food was very good, but the service and noise level detracted from the ambiance. It was quiet and nice when we arrived at 7 and we were seated at a table near the bar. But by 7:45 a crowd developed at the bar and it became noisy and very hard to carry on a conversation at our table. The duck egg rolls were very nice as an appetizer and the main dish of braised duck was very nice. The poached pear with chocolate was excellent for dessert. The food was good overall, but with a glass of wine and dessert the bill with tip came to $328.

Es un restaurante muy agradable en el que se puede conversar porque no es ruidoso, la comida es sabrosa y el servicio especialmente amable. Buena selección de pescados.

My wife was excited about taking me there. She had been there for lunch and enjoyed the food and the service. This time it didn't go as well. Food was pretty good. Service was okay. For this type of smaller/cozy place, I would expect better service. Had he been more attentive, we probably would have had another drink. As I passed him on the way out and said "Thanks" he didn't respond. Apparently my wife said something as well behind me and she said he didn't even smile. While I'm glad we went, we aren't planning a trip back anytime soon.

This is my favorite neighborhood gem! Good for business meetings. Great for brunch! Don’t skip on the dessert here! The Matisse Meringue and the Apple tart are unforgettable choices.

This is truly a neighborhood gem not to be overlooked. From the time you are greeted to the time you leave you feel like you are dining with friends. The food is wonderful, the roasted chicken is the best in the area and the tuna tartar is fabulous as well as the fried oysters. The apple tarte tatine is delicious and well worth the calories! We will be sure to keep this on our list of local go to restaurants.

Splendid New Years eve at Matisse . She the oysters to start and me the Arugula salad. Oysters were fresh, neatly presented and had sufficient garnishes to elaborate the taste. Salad was crisp, garnished with excellent shaved cheese and the house dressing was perfect and did not impair the crisp taste of the salad. She the lamb chops, tender and cooked as ordered. Me the Pasta in a very light sauce with different type mushrooms and shallots. Dessert was a sensational poached pear. One glass each of champagne and a bottle of French red wine that complimented each course of our dining experience.
