Great for business meetings. An energetic atmosphere in the restaurant with different cuisine and lots of healthy options.

Had a great experience as usual. We had salads there just right for lunch, Salmon and Chicken Cobb. Service was excellent, food came out quickly and just right for business meeting. It is my go to place.

After looking at the menu I selected Matchbox for brunch. I was disappointed to see that none of the vegetarian options online were offered. I was told that every Matchbox menu is different. Had I known this I wouldn't have come for brunch. The coffee was terribly bitter and the others in my party were quite bothered by this.
The service was the best thing about the brunch. The food was okay but not great.
Overall my party and I were disappointed.
I have been for lunch before and not had this experience. The restaurant needs to offer vegetarian/vegan options for brunch.

Absolutely mediocre! The server was so disinterested in us and her surrounding tables. Why was she even there if she dislikes her job and guests that much? Ruined my birthday meal with family. She was cold, rushed and rude.

The pizza over was broken, which sucked because that is what they are known for. They were also out of calamari and the French dip sandwich.

Enjoyed Matchbox because I was with my 2 godsons...in their late 20's. The have great choices and creative appetizers as well as burgers and all other foods that young people that age like.
It was noisy and there were lots of kids. Would not go there on a date.

Service was excellent, but food was disappointing. The breakfast sandwich was greasy and the potatoes with it were cold. First time for brunch...maybe the other offerings are better.

Matchbox has a large number of options on the menu, and they are mostly good or very good, just not great. The pizzas seem to be a nice choice, while salmon on salad was nothing special. Ribs were tasty but too smothered in sauce. Service was good.

It was a nice night to eat outside and we took advantage of their outside dining. The food unfortunately was only ok. My request for a hamburger cooked medium was really rare. And, the pizza we ordered was cold vs hot. If the food could be delivered to the table with more consistency we would frequent this restaurant more often.

Was in town for a course and visited for a group dinner on Monday which was AWESOME! Returned on Wednesday with a group friends and I had another exceptional experience. Can't recall the names of the servers and bar tenders but they were all impressive and customer focused. Overall a great experience and I will definitely return on my next visit. Not sure there are any in the San Diego area.

I woke up randomly 3 weeks ago and said to myself... Self? Myself said hmm? Lets go to brunch. I ended up at Matchbox Bistro. I just left for the 3rd week in a row and was completely satisfied! I usually get the same thing each time. Shrimp and Grits and Crab Bene. A LOT of food! I have no complaints ... well maybe 2. The butter sauce in the grits has an interesting flavor. Not completely sold on it. I also have them remove the diced tomatoes for allergy reasons. Also, while week one I dont recall biting into any, weeks 2 and 3, there were remnants of shell in the crab cake. p.s. the crab cake is great otherwise! I had a Mimosa week one and it was okay. Not sure why it was served in such a large glass. The drink to glass ratio didnt match lol. No Alcohol weeks 2 and 3. Im not a drinker and realized that after week 1. I also downloaded the Matchbox app this week and got $10 off of my meal. That was definitely an added bonus. A great experience. See ya next Sunday!

I made reservations for 7 through Open Table for a Sunday at noon. We arrived a few minutes early and our table was ready, so we were seated immediately. We were given a brunch menu along with the regular menu -- so there were plenty of options. Our server was friendly and attentive. The mini burgers are juicy and delicious with a ginormous pile of onion straws-- plenty to share! The meats pizza I ordered was cheesy and delicious with just a kick of spice from pepperoni, sausage, & bacon. Others ordered chicken and waffles, the lunch burger, and a salad. Everything was fabulous. The classic (brownie with ice cream) was the perfect dessert . We will definitely be back!

We had an "almost" perfect experience. The Farmer's Tomato Soup, the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, and the Veggie Pizza were wonderful. The Tuna Tacos were so-so. The desert, Chocolate Bread Pudding, was massive and delicious. All things considered, we enjoyed Matchbox very much.

I meet friends here often because it is convenient to my office and the Twinbrook metro stop.

I love the black bean burger, and I love that you can swap out fries for another side dish.

I like this place a lot, but sometimes feel that the service can leave something to be desired. However, it's a busy place and I'm not in a rush!

Crab and avocado salad was excellent - looked good and tasted great. Also shared a salad with apple, blue cheese and pecans, with added shrimp - very good, except for the shrimp which were tasteless. Vegetable soup somewhat disappointing - although fresh ingredients, more tomatoes than any other vegetable - I think it needed pasta, and maybe some salt or some herbs or spices for more flavor. Service was good. And we were seated in a perfect spot, where it wasn't overly noisy.

I wrote a review last time and never heard back from anyone and we go there fairly often. My review this time was good and most of the time it is good. Good food, good service, but two times ago when we were there, the service was awful and we waited and waited and waited for our food, which much of it was wrong. But like I said, it's usually not like that. I felt badly b/c my father in law took 12 of us out (which we do fairly often) and he paid the bill and didn't even get the right meal. We will continue going b/c it seems that we all like the food :)

This experience should be called when good things go bad. Our reservation was for 7:00pm. We got there at 6:40 and checked in. There was one couple waiting for a table. As we waited at least 10 parties without reservations came in and were seated. I finally asked the hostess if we should cancel our reservation and just be a walk in- she gave me a blank stare and said our table was ready. Her flippant attitude and unprofessional response left me fuming. We sat down for dinner which was pretty good-except the apple pear salad has every weird type of lettuce you can think of- that is now off my list. We got our check and had a $10 off coupon, it took the poor waiter 15 minutes to figure it out. I by no means blame him but blame the management for poor training. Matchbox is so loud to begin with and they had live music. I saw two groups leave because of it, trust me I saw a lot of coming and going while needlessly waiting for my table. Not sure I will go back, an overall bad experience.

Do t let them sit you upstairs. We were all alone up there and it killed the experience. Our server did a nice job remembering us and attending to us, though. Even though he had to keep running up and down the stairs to do it.

I work in Rockville so Matchbox is often the go to choice for lunch, business dinner or happy hour. Today I met an old friend for lunch. As usual the service was great and attentive, ambiance great even though it was pretty full. I usually order a crab cake sandwich as I did this time. It was outstanding! What more can I say... great experience as usual.

I hadn't been to Matchbox for a while, and my favorite pizza was no longer on the menu. I asked our waiter about it, and he offered to have the kitchen make one for me. It was every bit as delicious as I had remembered! Everything my friends and I had was great, and our waiter never pressured us about lingering (2 hours for lunch) and was great at keeping our drinks refilled. I'll go back again soon!
