The Fried Shrimp and fries were excellent and the pizza was also good. Waiter was a little distracted and maybe stretched thin. Ordered a small pizza and a small glass of wine. He adjusted the pizza when I mentioned it didn’t look,Ike a 10” but also gave us a large wine. We let that go since my wife drank it but was like he wasn’t listening to our order

We were immediately seated. Wait staff was slow and non attentive. I had to ask other waiters for assistance. The mini burgers were great. Waiting for mustard was ridiculous. The roadshow pizza was very tasty but could have eliminated the sunny side up which took away the crispness. The salmon on the salad was unflavored. Hopefully the next visit will be much better.

They placed us all the way upstairs when their was tables available downstairs so our service was slow and limited. I paid for bottomless mimosas and only got 3 because they were so slow. Also it took over an hour for our food, another 10 minutes for ketchup and salt and pepper. I’d skip for brunch but I’d come back for happy hour

The food was excellent, as always. One of my favorite DC restaurants. However, I was originally charged $34 for a single $9 pint of beer, and then the waitress was slow to change it. She was friendly otherwise though and gave good food suggestions.

For me Matchbox is a familiar restaurant. It's nice that the Happy Hour options have been expanded. Maybe consider having the soy sauce for the pot stickers as a dipping sauce instead of poured over the pot stickers. Mine were drowning in the sauce upon arrival hence the 4star. Everything else was good. As long as I can still have the bartenders make the Boxcar with a sugar rim, all in my little corner is good.

I used to love Matchbox. But in the past year plus, the quality of the food has gone down while the prices have gone up. It's just a hard OK for me now. First, I was irritated that you can now only order the happy hour menu at the bar, which our server said is a new policy. It's not a big restaurant but you can only order those particular items when you're seated at the most congested area of the joint? I was there with my husband and 9-month-old daughter, but best believe if I ever come back I'll roll her stroller right on over there and clog up the itty bitty walkway to get the $10 pizza instead of paying full price. Y'all will have to deal, I guess. I ordered fried shrimp and fries; it was barely room temperature when it got to our table. My husband ordered no tomatoes on his pesto chicken pizza; it had tomatoes on it nonetheless. And he searched for a picture of Milk & Honey's strawberry shortcake to show me what it was supposed to look like because it was just two biscuits with two little slices of strawberries on top in real life. I know restaurants are having a challenging time--our server kept apologizing for the long lapses away from our table and the mother and daughter who sat next to us ultimately got up and left because service was taking so long--but I just feel like management doesn't ensure quality in the areas they can control. People will have to wait longer times and that's OK. But can the food be hot? Reasonably priced? Can we get some bright spots and perks to counter the negatives? RIP my beloved Matchbox of yesteryear.

Met someone there for a business lunch and it worked out great. Really good salads and good service. Stayed for 2.5 hours and didn't feel rushed. Excellent option for that type of lunch as well as a casual lunch or dinner.

Celebrating my daughters 10th birthday. My wine did not come to table until, my entree arrived and I ordered an appetizer. Had to constantly look for Lorna, but other people walking by were very helpful in her absence and with Covid I understand why I may have had to look for Lorna. Overall 2 stars and do not recommend. It’s possible that other locations are better, but I’m definitely not a fan of this one. Slow service, very excuse driven, food was lackluster, and parking options are nonexistent. Portion sizes are quite large but if the food isn’t great, what’s the point? I won’t be going back.

This place has truly declined - prices are crazy high for smaller portions - and the wait staff is very inexperienced. Even accommodating for pandemic stresses it was a bad experience. Poor beer selection even!!

Pizza was really good. Love the double pepperoni. I also like the honey balsamic dressing for the salads. We have a great server.

The food and drinks were very good, as usual. As most restaurants in the area, they are a bit short-staffed so it was a bit of a wait. I would definitely go back with the understanding service may take a bit longer.

Our waiter Brian performed admirably. However, my wife ordered the fire and smoke pizza and the cook used mozzarella cheese when smoke gouda cheese is the standard for that pizza. Needless to say, my wife was disappointed as we traveled an hour to the restaurant from our home so that she could indulge in her favorite pizza. The manager made up for the inconvenience by removing that pizza from our total bill. We will return in the near future and prior to placing our order will ensure the restaurant has restocked smoked gouda cheese and that her pizza is made with the correct ingredients.
