Food was very greasy and over cooked. Ordered chilaquiles and came out with no chorizo, no green sauce and a tablespoon of black beans. Ended up sending it back. Will not be back.

Overall OK. I ordered from the regular menu and liked my food. My wife ordered the brunchbox (unlimited small plates). When her food arrived, she immediately asked for an additional side of potatoes and we waited 40 minutes before they finally arrived. To their credit, they comp’d her meal. But I do t think this is the place for brunch in DC.
Valentine’s Day night, so it was busy but our server seemed as if it was his first week working. Took a half hour to receive water and take our drink order, took another half hour after that to receive our food only after I had spoke to the host. Unfortunately will probably not be back.
Our waitress was very nice, but not all that attentive.
We were overcharged for happy hour drinks. Waitress first tried to explain it away, then returned with partially corrected bill. Adding insult to injury, the expensive mediocre full priced Manhattan was served without a cherry! Horrors!!!
Seriously the Margarita and Pepperoni pizzas were OK but not special.
We’ve had better food/drinks/service at this location in the past. Overall disappointing experience.
Salmon salad was good but not remarkable.
Server never came back to the table to ask if we wanted coffee and other beverage refills.
Great food, at a great location.
Food was nothing unique. Felt rushed by the server who also didn’t go out of his way to make me feel valued. I have no reason to go back to Matchbox bc it wasn’t a meaningful experience; I can spend my time & money elsewhere

Fist off there is no place to park so we were 30 minutes last for our reservations and they marked us off as a no show! Never an apology . Our waitress was terrible and the food was terrible. The pizza crust was like cardboard. I definitely do not recommend this location. It was a $100 for a disappointing dinner with our college kids. We were visiting for a nice birthday dinner...so disappointing

The server we had was outstanding! I wish I could remember his name but on his sleeve it said ‘legit trainer’. He took such great care of not only us but those around us too. Attentive to our food and drink needs but also made really good recommendations and flavor enhancements overall.
This was my first time to Matchbox since moving out of the DC area 18 months ago, and my experience at the restaurant was as good as I remember it being before! The food was excellent, the service was responsive, and everybody in my party was happy with their meal.
This is the perfect go to place for good food with a relaxed atmosphere. Great for business meetings because its not noisy at all.
It was a terrible experience. The hostess was on the phone, the booth was not clean, the waiter was not attentive at all, and the restaurant was out of several dishes.

Food was fine, but service, while pleasant, was disappointing. Main course came out before the appetizers (it’s wasn’t crowded at the time), and overall service was slow. There are better, more reliable, choices in the vicinity.

The service continues to go down at this location. Over 20 minutes to get a server at the table, 40 minutes wait for an appetizer, and had to request water refills.

I came here with my friends from out of town and expected much more. The unlimited brunch seemed like a great deal but the food and service did not meet any expectations.

Everything on this street was ridiculously overpriced. Matchbox was the only thing that had reasonably priced options. The food was pretty decent but nothing spectacular and it definitely was pricier than the quality of the food called for. But it was close enough to walk everywhere we wanted to go that night and it was the cheapest thing on the block so I’m not too upset about the price especially considering it was a nice place and the service was awesome. The specialty cocktails were more than worth it too. I’d recommend it for a nice dinner if you’re going out in the area and want some nice drinks and nice atmosphere and don’t care about overpaying a bit on okay food.
We've been to this location a couple of times and this was by far the worst experience. Server was terrible and our food arrived late and then the order was all wrong
Service, from host to server, was spectacular.
We were over in DC for New Year and decided to try Matchbox for brunch. We decided to get the unlimited brunch option and it was a great choice. Food was delicious. We loved the pizzas and the lemon pound cake French toast. We tried several of their plates and we lived them all. The services was good and promptly. Definitely worth to come back for another brunch bunge sometime! Come with a big appetite. Excellent!
We are on vacation and walked to Matchbox for pizza after a long day at the zoo. We were not disappointed. Food was outstanding!
We were in D.C. for a quick trip and went here to eat. The service was top notch. The food was fantastic. The server was great. Unbeknownst to us there was an accident boxing my daughters leftovers and SURPRISE, they gave her another meal. It was an very unexpected surprise. When we returned to Maryland, we did tell everyone about the restaurant and the quality of the food. I had the chicken Alfredo dish and this was the first time in my history of eating every drop! That’s how good it was. My husband had scallops over creamed corn, unusual to say the least but it was extremely good. We had OldBay wings for the first time and they were hot, juicy and just fantastic, overall everything was great. Kudos to this restaurant and the next time we are in the area we will definitely be back.

Waiter was on point! Food was on point! Waiter gave my kids dough to shape into whatever they wanted and then through it in the oven to bake, free of charge. He made the experience 10x better.

The sliders are a must have, the drinks are stellar, and our sever "Toy" was an absolute delight!
Our server was terrible. We waited forever for everything. Some items we never received. We had to acquire the assistance of another server.

I love Matchbox. Love the pizza and other entrees. I've never been disappointed with the food.
First time here for a quick happy hour snack. The pizza was nice and lite with good flavor. I would like to see more wine options though. We got a white and red blend. The white chard was terribly sweet and the red was ok. Our waiter was great though, so we'll go back and try again.
Matchbox is one of my favorites, with a great menu and lots of comfort food.
Visiting from San Diego, we stopped here yesterday on a food tour. We loved all our stops, this one seemed like a great place for brunch so we reserved a table. Perfect choice!! Great food, friendly service, great value!! Would definitely come back! Thank you Matchbox!
Excellent, professional service from front desk to wait staff. Great value for quality at price.
It took ten minutes before our server came over. She took our drink order and it took five minutes to bring our water back. We both ordered soup and salad and asked for it to come out before the meals. Fifteen minutes later, a different server brought our soup and salad. Their cream of crab soup was very good, their side Cesar salad was fine, but nothing special. About five minutes after that, before we could finish our soup and salad, another server brought out our food. My wife got the chicken cobb salad, again perfectly fine, but nothing special. I got the crispy half chicken. The chicken was very good, but the mashed potatoes were ice cold. I'm sure it could have been easily fixed, but we didn't see our server again until we were done. Then they overcharged for the side salad, but we never saw our server after that! The salads were fine, nothing special. The crab soup and crispy chicken were good. The chicken might have been great if the mashed potatoes were even warm, but we will never know. The food may or may not have warranted a second chance, but the service pushed us FAR over the edge. Tables around us with other servers seemed to be getting much more attention. We saw our server a grand total of three times, when we placed our order, when the water was brought out, and getting our bill. The table next to us, saw their serve three times, between when we were seated and when we were greeted! When we left, the hostesses didn't ask us how everything was, and barely looked up from their phones to tell us to have a good night. Unacceptable!
Food tasty, menu reasonably varied for four older folks with differing diet requirements. This location was perfect for our pre-theater meal with friends. Very convenient to be able to make an early reservation & relax before walking a block to the Source Theater.
Good food. Great people. Perfect for what we were looking for!
