I am going to miss this place. Our server, Poppi, was awesome. Food was excellent. Overall, a great experience.
We have loved this wonderful restaurant for years. Good food, great for outdoor dining, great owners.
Mat an Naddie's will always hold a special place in my heart. It was an excellent restaurant that unfortunately closed.
Good meal after a long day at Jazzfest. Tasty food, peaceful atmosphere . Hadn't been there in years but would definitely go back!
Great dinner, but found out the restaurant is becoming a special events site only!
Love!y patio excellent knowledgeable pleasant service, FI e quality lo al ingredients, inventive cuisine. All in all a thoroughly p!easant dinner
I have been to Mat & Naddie's twice and it has exceeded my expectations both times. The food is creative and delicious, the service is very attentive, and the wine list is excellent. They have a variety of incredible wines from all over the world--and at different price points. The cocktails are great too, and not absurdly priced for their high quality.
The restaurant is located in an old cottage along the river, so the ambience is pretty romantic. They have a patio with colorful lights ahead, which is very nice, but can get noisy with the traffic from River Road. All in all, it's another great restaurant in New Orleans that manages to maintain a unique character. Highly recommended!
Food and service was excellent. We dined outside and it was wonderful
I can't pick which dish we enjoyed the most, everything was delicious and the service was outstanding.
I happened to find out about Mat & Naddie's while reading about New Orleans shotgun-type houses, and the restaurant is contained in two of them, I read. So, I took the St. Charles streetcar from the French Quarter out to the neighborhood which was incredibly charming. The restaurant is at the edge of a neighborhood of lovely, modest cottages from the 19th century. The food was also incredibly tasty and served with efficiency and graciousness.
The people were pleasant and the food was ok. The shrimp in the soup appeared to be imported and small. Steak was fine. Overall it was an ok meal but just average for New Orleans.
The restaurant is quaint and the food opinion is mixed. I got the chargrilled shrimp which had heads and tails on them Yuk! It was dry and hard to peel and only 5 shrimp that were not very big. I think they left them whole to make it look like more food. The sweet potato and avacado with the shrimp made for an interesting and good taste combination. My husband got the pork dish and he loved it. It came with potatoes and carrots and gravy that he said was very tasty and the pork was tender. He asked for bread to go with it and we were told that they have no bread. Really? Two glasses of wine, two beers, two entrees only and the bill was $98 before tip and no bread. Plus our waitress was slow. Cute place, good taste to the food - I debated about three stars or four, but I doubt if we will be back.
WHAT?! No bread? If we had known would have brought some from home. How can a New Orleans restaurant not serve bread?
Mat & Naddie's is in our neighborhood, but this was our first visit is quite a while. It's an old house, which looked a bit shabbier than I remember. I started with the house made charcuterie, which was good. My wife had an oyster salad. She was surprised that it had no dressing until she found a puddle of dressing under all the greens. Odd. For my entry's I had chorizo spiced grilled shrimp. These were in the shell, though there was nothing on the menu to make me aware of that. The plate also held sweet potato purée, pieces of avocado, and several other bits and pieces. Probably at least one too many ingredients. My wife had crispy catfish green curry. This was certainly the oddest looking plate of the evening. The curry sauce was actually bright green, and as my wife put it, it looked like green slime. She said it tasted ok, but the appearance was certainly off-putting. I think this place has slipped.
Great food and wine, the Lebanese Masur wine was outstanding. I'll be back.
We have not eaten here in about fifteen years, and that obviously was a mistake, because everything including the attentiveness of the the hostess and staff, and the food were outstanding. I am touting this as one our new rediscovered favorite restaurants, but I am hoping to keep it a secret so that it does not get overbooked. We plan to return for dinner in a month and already have made our reservations.
My father was in town, with his new wife, took them there for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals tremendously. Service was more than outstanding, food was awsome!!!!!
Excellent food and service. The service was outstanding
Always a great place to dine. The menu is expansive, and inventive. Service and atmosphere never let you down.
A Wonderful Treat! We love the atmosphere as it it always so welcoming. A bistro feel for a cozy evening. Delicious and unique food every time.
Some of the best good in NOLA! Thank you so much for having vegan options - this entire city is at the forefront of supporting plant based eating. Wonderful!
Grilled tuna special, chorizo and shrimp, and the two mushroom vegetarian dishes were all excellent. Chocolate Creme Brulee was delicious. However, Sauvignon Blanc - Chenin Blanc blend that was available that evening was unimpressive. I would prefer to see a wine by the glass list. It was difficult to find all the wines by the glass in the comprehensive wine list.
My best friend and I always have dinner at Matt & Naddies. Love the food, the ambiance, the wine list, and the service.
Delicious food and great service. And a particularly great price for a NYE menu!
Fabulous as always! Matt & Naddies does New Year's Eve dinner beautifully - better than most other popular restaurants in New Orleans. Have lived here a very long time and just had the best red fish ever tasted. The Blue Crab bisque was devine and the tomato/goat cheese tart excellent. Throw in quail egg appetizer (presented as lagniappe) a glass or champagne and a heavenly spice cake with satsuma orange filling and burnt cinnamon icing, and we left completely satisfied. Fortified too by delicious cocktails. Love this place!!
The food is fabulous, noise level horriable, don't expect a quite evening. The filet has me hooked!
An intimate, comfortable, albeit sometimes noisy, dining room with a pleasant deck for outdoor dining. The food is excellent, especially the fried oyster salad, which is delicious beyond belief. It's location is outside the area frequented by tourists, and so is a dining gem for locals. Easy to find and get to by car, with abundant parking across the street. It is one of my favorite places to dine in the city.
Food was great! Oyster salad and mushroom roulade were excellent! Place was empty, because of the Saint's game. So, it was quiet.
The result of a team effort. Helpful, attentive pro wait staff, warm inviting ambience support the creative well executed preparation of select quality ingredients. Worth the price and the slightly off the beaten track location. Add it to your list.
Matt & Ladies is great!!! The food is fantastic and I really love the location. The dining room is very cozy and inviting. Will be back again and again.
Always a warm reception from the hostess/owner. Friendly, efficient and prompt service. The best place in town for a filet mignon!!! The fresh fish is always delicious. The soup of the day cannot be beat. The entree comes with vegetables and a starch and the prices are very competitive. Always free parking and protected. One of NOLA's finest!
Food was amazing with unexpected/creative additions that added a lot to the experience. Great service, pretty location. The drum special was amazing, the red bean falafel super good, the fried bread pudding was incredible. 10/10 recommend.
Mat & Naddie's is an old favorite of ours in New Orleans! We were in town this past weekend and were happy to return. We started with the butternut squash soup and roasted pecans.. My husband had the green curry catfish and I had the sesame crusted oyster mushrooms. Our entire meal was fantastic! Accompanied by a bottle of Emeritus Pinot, we could not have been happier!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was friendly and pleasant. I had a nice dry rose to start...we ordered their sweet spicy pecans to start...much too tasty! I had a mushroom Gruyere roulade...delicious...my husband's grilled shrimp were also delicious...highly recommend!
The food was amazing, wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, made great recommendations.
Talk about a welcoming atmosphere! We arrived early on a late September afternoon for a reservation of 5:30 (opening time). It was 93 degrees in the shade...and there was no shade. The wife of the chef graciously stepped out and invited us to come inside for a cold beverage, even though the staff meeting was still going on. Everyone was so gracious. Dinner was superb, the ambience was just right and the chef even allowed us to purchase a jar of his specially made pickles to take home. A true NOLA star in our local restaurant line-up
They really did evade dish quite expertly. Loved the green curry catfish entree, the savory "cheesecake" and fried oyster salad appetizers.
I recommend restaurant. Great food, a nice experience , excellent service.
I've really liked this place in the past but food was fair and drinks seemed "too small".
Their great dish; "fried banana" is no longer on the menu..
Great food. Casual, friendly, yet good place for a romantic evening.
