The restaurant is on the second floor (an elevator is available). The decor is modern but comfortable. I opted to be seated at the bar. The front receptionist was friendly. I ordered food through the sushi chef. Food was delicious and very fresh. Chef accommodated my requests. Prices are fair. I would have given a 5 for service but my server was not attentive. I had to call her attention every time I needed something. A man gave my check in the middle of my meal which is considered rude. I would come back again at my next visit to Portland.
The sushi is excellent and well prepared. This is a favorite stop of ours every time we’re in the area. The ambience is trendy and moody without being pretentious or snooty, and the food is always fantastic.
Masu is the best sushi restaurant in Portland, bar none.
The fish is absolutely fresh.
The sake selection is extensive.
Service is top shelf, you always feel appreciated like you are right at home.
Fantastic on every level. Really dug our server. Nice window view. Delicious. Yep!
Delicious! Was immediately serviced. Sushi was so fresh. The ramen was exactly what I was craving.
Horrible service, very rude.
We have been enjoying Masu for the past eight years. It is one of our go to special occasion places. The sushi is always fresh and first rate. The Nemo roll is a must for my husband and me. The saki selection is one of the best in the city.
Truly fine sushi and sashimi plus excellent cocktails as well as long sake and beer lists
Always a great meal at Masu. Great second floor view if you can secure a window seat.
From start to finish every appetizer that we ordered and then of course the sushi and sashimi are fresher than fresh! Masui is our favorite go to… Best sushi and sashimi in Portland
I am not a huge sushi fan but this was the best sushi I have ever had! Everything we ordered was fantastic!!!
Masu has the best sushi that I have ever had in Portland. The fish is fresh and delicious, the staff is personable and attentive, and the vibe of the restaurant is wonderful. I have already recommended this spot to all of my friends.
Fantastic sushi, great service, pleasant environment.
Amazing food! Great service! Best Sushi in town!
Masu Sushi restaurant was too cold for comfort. Unpleasant unless you enjoy dining with cold air blowing down on your back.
The waitress who served us was pleasant, but untidy in appearance and not very good at her job. She removed our plates before asking us whether we were done, hence creating a rushed and unwelcoming dining experience. She also gave us scallop nigiri rather than the salad we ordered. We dined and Urdaneta and WildFin earlier in the week and the servers at both restaurants were warmly welcoming, tidy and neat in their appearance. The timing of the food and service was harmonious, the atmosphere was relaxing and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we look forward to returning.
The sushi and specialty drinks were very good. Absolutely no complaints about the food, but this is not a restaurant that we’d consider returning to because we never really felt comfortable or wanted. We were simply served...and we weren’t even served everything we ordered.
We were promptly seated by the friendly hostess for our reservation but service from the wait staff was below average. The restaurant was about 60% full, but after being ignored for over 5 minutes we flagged a random server down and asked for water. Once our order was placed the sushi arrived quickly, although portion sizes were disappointingly small. A request for more ginger was met with a reluctant shrug from our server. With food still on our plates the bill was dropped on our table. We had planned on ordering more food but decided against it after such a rude brush off.
The food was very good, everything was well prepared, tasted good and look good. The service was good also but I did feel a little rushed. The only really negative thing was the windows. It was a cold night and we sat by the windows which are drafty old, metal frames and single pane glass which made it a little cold.
Great food & great atmosphere!
Perfect for a date nite!
We have been coming here for a couple of years. Very high quality sushi. Awesome Sake selection. Can't wait to go back.
Awesome food. A bit noisy for conversation. It would be really nice if the special maki came in smaller sizes so a party of two could do more mixing of the different choices.
Best sushi in Portland
Masu is easily the best sushi in Portland. Service and quality of food are consistently excellent.
Best sushi restaurant/experience ever. Sushi was presented beautifully, super fresh. The sushi chefs were so friendly and helpful.
Really nice food. Good service and just a great overall experience
Incredible food and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
This felt like dining at an Applebee’s. Just a really boisterous and immature atmosphere. No thanks
Fried rice appetizer is excellent. The sushi rolls are varied and tasty.
Amazing food and drinks, wealth of knowledge around Sake and sushi.
Consistently good food and interesting options. Our table service this last visit was very disappointing. Haphazard, inattentive and seemed not to care about helping us. Long, painfully long gaps between drink delivery and each part of our food orders. No explanation or even notice that we were getting frustrated.
We had a large party with reservations and waited more than 30 minutes, but the hostess was great about keeping us informed.
The food and ambiance at Masu was very good. Unfortunately, our server was not attentive, messed up the order of our table and the one next to us, and seemed to always look busy when she was really just confused or perhaps trying to look busy. With so many great sushi restaurants in the PDX area, one might want to consider others unless you have a lot of time to sit around...
The staff were so welcoming and nice! We sat at the sushi bar, and loved chatting with the chefs. The presentation of the sushi was beautiful, and it tasted great. I would definitely go back here.
The ambiance really contributed to the calm atmosphere. This place is a must for any special occasion
Wonderful food and drink in an almost hidden upstairs space that's charming. Our server was fantastic and made great recommendations. Our cocktails were delicious and the sushi was presented so beautifully.
Outstanding food and cocktails! Beautiful decor. My only issue was that I had made reservations for a romantic dinner. Had to wait 15 minutes to be seated, which is ok... but we could have been had a cocktail while we were waiting. When my partner went to the bar to get us a drink the very busy bar tender ignored him. I did not like being seated less than a foot away from another table. As they took seating for 4 and split into 2 separate areas for 2. But overall it was great service from our waitress and possibly the best sushi I have had in Portland
This place has the best sushi that's I've ever had in Portland. The fish is incredibly fresh and of amazing quality. The service was wonderful, the staff attentive and personable. I will definitely be coming back!
Outstanding all around from our welcome greeting to the gracious and informed service to the fabulous fresh fish and kobe beef, it was a most memorable meal. Why eat Japanese food anywhere else in Portland?!
Exceptional sushi, service and restaurant !
Masu never disappoints! Fresh fish, oysters and sushi. We had a great time.
Great food, moderate service, too noisy. I love Masu as a hidden gem, and will go back for the food for sure, though the staff can be a little hit and miss. The black cod is to die for!
