Our server, Ruby, went above and beyond! Esan (spelling probably not correct) created our meals right in front of us at the bar and simply asked "how hungry are you?", then used that to determine what he would make for us. I've never had such an amazing Japanese/sushi experience!
We had not been back to Masu in a year or so. It seems like it has passed its prime. The food was uninspired and average at best. Presentation of the dishes was poor. I don’t know that we’ll be back. Bummer
Nigiri was excellent, rolls were underwhelming and drinks were expensive but delicious. Service was friendly and little slow but the place was completely packed. We'll be back and we'll skip the rolls next time.
Love it! The food was great and the service was wonderful. Food came quickly and every dish was wonderful.
Had a nice evening at Masu. Had to ask for the vegetarian menu but the server was prompt and suggested daily specials. Delicious food. Good vegetarian options. House Sake could be little more potent but it was still good.
Great atmosphere. Food was good and fresh, but I felt it was a little lacking in flavor.
One of the better sushi places in town and has a wider selection of other Japanese options
Unimpressed.
We always enjoy Masu. The food is always delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is fun and edgy. A little pricey though.
Quality sushi, recommend the curry rice bowl!
Angela was a great, fun server. Fresh fish was the best! Every bite.
Masu hold a really special place for my boyfriend and I as it was our first date so we always look forward to going back. The food is great, the staff is exceptional - I would recommend sitting at the bar and chatting with the sushi chefs! They are great plus it's cool to watch them work. We've never been disappointed with the food or drinks there - recommend the NordEast roll - holy yum!!
Great Friday night pre-bar / show dinner restaurant. Went out with friend before a music venue be he wonderful food and service. Not my first time and not my last.
Made reservations but had to wait longer then typically. Host was very apologetic and service was excellent. We love eating here and food is excellent,
There were a few hiccups - orders came out rather scattered, none of us really had our food at the same time. One of our groups order was entered wrong. Hard to get the servers attention to order more food, he seemed a little stressed. Overall the food was good, we enjoyed ourselves.
Excellent sushi and sake selection, robata skewers are a great option for non-seafood diners. Busy restaurant and extremely loud though, so not a good choice for relaxing conversation.
Fantastic service!
Hostess acted annoyed that we arrived ten minutes before our reservation. Server gave attitude when we asked for side that was supposed to be included according to menu but was not.
Great as always. Food and service are always top notch!
My wife loved her sushi. The sake was good. I ordered meat that was not tender at all. My food was ok. The Miso soup was great. Overall a good experience. My food being better I could have given 4 stars.
Fantastic experience, great food and service. We’ve been here many times, never disappoints.
This place was recommended to me by my chef sister. And it did not disappoint! Had a great meal of steamed buns and a variety of sushi rolls. Tasty saki and some hot tea. Our server was amazingly fun. I will definitely be back!
The staff was attentive, friendly and willing to give suggestions. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The overall atmosphere is busy and fun, yet intimate and comfortable. I took my parents there, who tend to like more comfort food/meat and potato type restaurants, and found things they absolutely loved. Their sushi is super fresh and the ramen is to die for! I haven't found anything on their menu that I didn't like. Highly recommended!
Food was amazing but it always is.
Masu is awesome. I love their sushi. Our special occasion was my 9 year old daughter’s first sushi experience. She had been asking to try so we made an event of it! Our server was fantastic. Gave us “safe options” to try and warm up before digging in to the more advanced sushi / sashimi. My daughter loved the veggie rolls and pork steam buns. Our server brought out ice cream for dessert to round off the celebration. Mom and dad liked EVERYTHING. This is a great spot and is a ton of fun!
Food took a little longer than usual but it was amazing!
Good, some options, dessert, tea; a notch on the loud scale
Masu is my favorite Sushi restaurant in the Twin Cities. Awesome sushi. Service is always great. Can get spendy, but that’s expected with good sushi. Try to get a table away from the door in the colder months.
LNO and it was disappointing. Service was laughable with an inattentive waiter, incorrect food and drink delivery and virtually no bus service. Perhaps they were short-staffed given the proximity of the holiday. Three of us got soba/soup/ramen and only the gal who got sushi finished her meal. Bland broths got the best of us. A good cocktail menu that I would try again.
Always very good food. Friendly service. Nice location.
A great experience. A lot of energy and a good vibe. Decorated very nice and the food is exceptional.
The staff was very friendly and helpful!
I love the pork buns, edamame, and ginger ramen noodle dish. We also
discover a new dark beer that was recommended by our server. In fact,
we walked to Surdyks and bought it after our meal!
My boyfriend and I frequent Masu, so we took some out of town guests and a couple other friends there. We know that sometimes the food comes out randomly and people may have to wait a while for their dishes. However, this most recent time was absurd and embarrassing for us as we were trying to show our out of town guests a great time.
Our server was very nice, but completely ignored us most of the time. Our server passed by our table to go to her other tables, yet rarely stopped to acknowledge us. We waited 15 minutes before we were offered anything but water (the bussers and other helpers are generally more attentive than the servers). We had to wait for a very long time between ordering drinks and an app and the rest of our meals. Then surprisingly all of our food arrived at the same time. I was very skeptical.
This won't stop us from returning, but it will stop us from bringing friends along. For a while at least.
Service was slow and the server twice forgot things. She was very pleasant, however. Just disorganized.
The food is great, but a bit pricey for whatbitbis. The beer is way overpriced.
Wonderful food, attentive service, lively atmosphere....a good place to enjoy Japanese food in a casual neighborhood restaurant. There for a family birthday, our group enjoyed the Masu and Firecracker rolls in particular. The server brought me hot water with lemon, since there is no herbal tea option; this was a thoughtful touch. The Japanese Manhattan was a hit. We plan to return to try some of the noodle dishes and other interesting things on the extensive and creative menu.
Great, interesting food. The sushi is very good, the noodles are great, and the pork spare ribs are amazing. The service was slow, and our server twice forgot things even though it was not busy at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon.
The steamed pork buns, edamame, and the ginger chicken ramen were all
fantastic!
Lovely setting, great service and good for a late dinner!
We were early and we were told to wait in the bar. The waiter came to us
immediately and took our order - delivered in less than 3 minutes.
Liz and the chefs are angels sent from heaven to make the world a better place.
Never disappointed. Tempura is fantastic. Very fun to go with a group to get lots of varieties of the robata and share!
