We spent 3 hours at the restaurant and were never rushed by the waitress. Special thanks to her. The drinks and food was outstanding. We come fairly often and then it never disappoints!
Delicious sushi and a menu with lots of different things to try!
Had reserved banquette/booth seating for a special birthday celebration. Spoke to staff on two separate occasions. Upon arrival (on time), discovered tables had been given away to two couples..seated separately. Our party of six was seated to the only table left which was closest to the door. Sure they gave free mochi to my daughter & friends plus a gift card to my daughter. However, that still didn't take away the less than desirable seating for a special occasion and the fact that the staff had ignored/forgotten my request and my two phone calls.
Simply the most consistent experience in dining I’ve l
Always excellent food and great sushi.
Our waiter was great!! Try the broccoli Robata.
I was here on happy hour & their prices are outrageous!!! Their food was mediocre. Shortly after being seated, there was a horrible smell that permeated the whole restaurant. My server was excellent as that was the only positive highlight. I would likely never return.
Celebrated my birthday with my family! I absolutely love Masu! It’s the best sushi in town! The servers, bartenders and especially sushi chef Asan make every visit worthwhile!!
There seems to be not a ton of cleanliness in sushi prep and quite a bit of risk of cross contamination. It’s too bad because
Excellent atmosphere. Our waitress Eve was amazing, can't give her enough praise. The food was a little slow to come out and a little overt priced for what you get.
Always excellent nigiri... as someone who usually eats a lot though, it would be nice if they did some form of a nigiri platter or something as it usually costs 20-30 dollars more for me to eat here than almost all other sushi places.
Thought the service was wonderful, tons of great suggestions. There was nothing special about the sushi we ordered.
The food was excellent! The Tonkatsu Curry Ramen is one of the best ramen experiences in Minneapolis. The robata and sushi are also good and an excellent option if some of the party have restricted diets (this is one of the few places where a group with vegans and keto diet people can both find something good to eat). The staff was also great and very patient with explaining various meal options.
My only issue was with the noise --- the place has terrible acoustics and yet plays very loud music. It's kind of an echoey din and made it very difficult for us to hold a conversation during dinner.
Our server was FABULOUS and had great recommendations!! She had the chef customize our order to exactly what we wanted and suggested amazing drinks too!
Fun place to order a variety of dishes. All well done and great presentation. Service was well paced. The sushi sampler and seaweed salad are hits.
As good as always. Restaurant and menus are due for a facelift though. Sticky floor, worn menus, creaky chairs... time for a refresh
Good food, interesting menu and great raman. It is very loud in the restaurant though and that made it hard to hear around our 6 person table. But it was fun to try different things, it just took a long time to get your food for the amount of people in the restaurant. But I woudl still go back.
The sushi rolls were perfection! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Thank you
Really good small bites- chicken meatballs and shrimp tempura boas. Slow to get food. Sushi was not as good as normal. Ramen was really good.
As always, great, informative and friendly service. Food was delicious and service was spot on. This is a favorite.
The hostess passed me by few times without acknowledging that I was waiting to be seated for several minutes. Quite uncharacteristic for this place, at least from my past experiences here. Then server took her sweet time even though it wasn't busy at all on a Thursday night. Food was excellent, as always! Drinks were good as well.
One of our favorite restaurants because there's many choices beyond sushi. Amazing flavors and a great happy hour.
A lot of option on the menu, the Sushi was amazing, server was a bit distracted and slow (restaurant was at 30% capacity) but overall a good experience.
Great food and a cool vibe at this Nordeast establishment. Sushi is consistently good and the kitchen cuisine is as good or better! Fantastic Ramen soups & the sesame green beans are a great starter. Plenty of vegetarian options too if you're looking. Good variety of Japanese sake & beer, this is one of our favorite regular spots!
Great menu with many options. Enjoyed Japanese whisky flight! The service was excellent and our server offered great suggestions, all of which we enjoyed.
The food was great and our server provided us with outstanding service. Always pleased with my experience at Masu. Domo!
Love the vibe! First timer! Food is wonderful. Can't say enough.
Unfortunately, this dining visit wasn't on par with what I have experienced at Masu in the past. The service was very slow. We waited more than 15 minutes for our bill to come at the end of service. Also, we were a group of 6 who were excited to try different things and were hoping that the server would ignite some fun and adventure withe the menu choices. Also, the server never checked to see if we liked or enjoyed our drinks and menu choices even though we were a little nervous that we wouldn't be satisfied. Ultimately, we weren't very happy with the sushi selections - it's not that the quality was poor or anything wrong with the kitchen production but more that our server wasn't able to guide us through the ordering experience. I think we will try a different sushi restaurant next time.
My wife and I really enjoyed Masu, and want to go again. We went for sushi, but ended up exploring many other menu items as there's a lot to choose from that all sounds really good. The space has a fairly hip vibe, dark, and noisy. Service was very good; attentive and ready to explain menu items without attitude. Overall, the food and drinks were very good; so much so that I kept forgetting to take pics. They offer several Sake flights. Mine was excellent with generous pours. My wife had the Double Precious (Lavender Gin Elderfower Martini) and loved it. The steamed Pork Belly Buns are a must. I really liked the Bacon Wrapped Quail Eggs; my wife not so much. The Duck Gyoza were also very good. We also enjoyed the Tempura Shrimp and Char Siu Pork Loin. We finally got some sushi and it was excellent. It's the kind of place where you can order as you go, as dishes come out quickly. Prices were reasonable, but you can get carried away ordering so many small plates that it adds up fast. The noodle dishes we could see others enjoying looked really good, so we want to go back and try those.
Everything was fantastic!
Server appeared disinterested and inconvenienced every time she came to our table, which was too infrequent. Food was just OK, especially for the price.
Took two kids and my husband. We go often—quality of food has really gone down over the last couple of years. Service was good as always
Very accommodating ! Love that place. Were nice to my kiddos
This was my third time here. Ambiance and service were great! However, Chirashi at $22 and included no salmon but two tamagos as part of your seven piece dish - total rip off. Completely disappointed in that as I always love to see what is brought out for chirashi.. Masu just didn’t cut it.
Jess is the reason for the great time we had. The food was incredible (though we had long waits in between courses since they were very short-staffed) and the ambience is nice. We will be back, thank you Jess!
My favorite sushi joint in the Cities. Great ambiance, a warm and kind staff, and impeccable food. I particularly recommend the pork belly rolls.
Too expensive for average-quality food. Nnnnnnnnnnnn
Server wasn’t educated on wines sake
The food and service were great - however the host put us at the bar without asking if it was okay. I work in a restaurant and I would never put a reservation at a bar! A small two top table would have sufficed. Instead we were put at a bar where some lady who was completely hammered kept trying to talk to us. I was trying to have a nice night out with my partner, not be distracted by everyone at the bar.
Lovely evening at Masu once again. Food is great and the service was good
