Very good food as always. We visit at least once a month when in town from Pittsburgh.
Our dinner was wonderful. From cocktail to entree. Our server Jennifer made our evening perfect.
Massimo's far exceeded our hopes. The ambiance was very nice and quiet, a great place for a special occasion meal, birthday, anniversary. The food was TO DIE FOR. We got four Appetizers----Mushroom Tart, Tuna Tiradito, Maine Lobster & Lump Crab Meat Ricotta Cake and the Maple Leaf Duck & Brie. All were outstanding, the last two..were my favorites. Would gladly order them all again. Good portion sizes, and outstanding flavor with high quality ingredients. Veal was the choice of our table this evening, with two orders of the Veal Scallopini (which was excellent almost a play on a piccata with the lemon butter sauce) The veal with lobster n crab (Frutta Di Mare) was outstanding, my father got a side of sautéed mushrooms which was sensational if you like mushrooms as we do, and I got the namesake dish...Veal Massimo....as much as I wanted to try the special of the day which sounded and looked equally delectable Seafood Risotto....I would be hard pressed to ever get anything different when I return (hopefully very soon) than that Veal Massimo, it was easily one of the top Veal meals ihave ever had. Full of Shittake mushrooms with the best tasting cognac sauce...n black truffle. This was a special day for my family...as it was the 49th yr anniversary to my father being rescued in Vietnam and Massimo made our family feel extremely special especially my father. We will never forget his act of kindness. This restraunt is a feel good story starting with the owner and Chef, our waiter B, was also outstanding and incredibly professional and adept at making us feel like we were at a high end gourmet restraunt. Chardonnay were good pours and high quality and our Perfect Manhattans were well made as well. I couldn't recommend this place enough. I hope you enjoy this practically hidden gem Palm Harbor, as much as we did...cnat wait to return!!!! 6 Stars!
We'd heard about this Italian/eclectic venue off and on, but had stuck to our favorites. Glad we branched out. Wine list is excellent, duck was to die for. This is definitely upscale, a la carte, so not for the budget challenged. Otherwise, a foodie's treat.
We always enjoy this restaurant. The food is very good. I had one of their specials - Duck a l'orange. A throwback to the 60s and very tasty. The noise level is a little high but not horrible. Great cocktails and good wine list.
We came in after Saturday night Harborside Church Easter Service. I had made reservations through Open Table and the Hostess greeted us by my family’s last name and seated us right away. She opened the table cloth for my wife and within a short time our server Michele was there. She was excellent and made the dining experience enjoyable. Excellent service and she knew the food very well. Very attentive and asked about any food allergies. Always made sure our water was topped off. Great menu as always and the chef himself came out later to greet everyone at their tables and ask about our meals. Enjoyed the appetizers, main dishes and the desserts too! Well worth the money.
We have been coming to the restaurant since they opened and Massimo always delivers consistent delicious meals and the wait staff is superb! His food rivals any you would be served in major cities!
Finally, not a chain restaurant but one that is
privately owned . Thank you Massimo
Nice menu, attentive service, the restaurant tries very hard to give you a fine dining experience.
The waiters are superb and the food knocked my socks off. I had the scallops and they were the best I’ve ever had. They were huge!
Massimo's has the best Italian in Pinellas County!!! All servers are so professional and friendly.
Overall our experience was fantastic. The food was EXCELLENT.
Great experience top to bottom. Friendly staff. Wine selection was expansive. Delicious appetizers: tried bruschetta and foie gras. Caesar salads were ok. Bone in NY Strip and Veal Massimo were spot on.
This restaurant has consistently fine food: fresh ingredients combined thoughtfully. The staff is very good, the owner/chef available.
Food was good! Our waiter was fantastic! Noise level a little high.
The food was extremely delicious. One of the best italian restaurants I went to in the Tampa bay area. If you live italian food as much as I do you must go here to eat!
Very good quality service and knowledge from Bertrand, very nice food although minimalistic portions, but very expensive for what we got. Cant fault food quality though.
Another wonderful meal at Massimo’s. We had the seared tuna loin which was perfectly prepared and the daily special of porcini mushroom ravioli in the best Alfredo sauce I’ve ever had. For dessert we finished with our favorite apple strudel and a slice of super soft and rich chocolate raspberry cake that was a special for Valentine’s week.
Great food , outstanding service. We will definitely Return.
All good! Food outstanding, great presentation, service, ambiance, etc.
called 1/2 hr before reservation time with a last minute guest pushing from 2 to 3...there was no problem; they graciously provided additional seating...as always a wonderful evening !
The very finest Italian restaurant in Clearwater/North Pinellas. Outstanding wine selection...well beyond what one might anticipate for such a small restaurant. Personal visit from Massimo to every diner. This is my “go to” restaurant for an always pleasing meal.
We advised at the time of the res we were celebrating our 42nd anniversary. We were given a nice table by the waterfall feature; however, that's where any special attention ended. Our drink order was not taken for 15 minutes. Our waitress inadvertently laid down the wine list on an adjacent table. It was a Tuesday night so the lackadaisical service wasn't a result of being very busy. The food was not what I expected after good comments we read online. My husband's rack of lamb was perfect but my veal scalopini had a flour coating that was pasty. I was told I would get pasta with it and instead received mashed potatoes. When I questioned the waitress she insisted she had said potatoes. I wasn't going to argue. She should have been all over making it right. Our friend's lobster/crab entree had very little lobster. No offer of a complimentary dessert for our anniversary just topped our feeling of an uneventful night. Sorry, we weren't made to feel special.
We have eaten here on several occasions and always enjoyed our meals. This was the first time that we had a problem with a meal. My husband said his steak tasted like the meat was bad. I smelled it and it smelled sour. I wasn't sure if it was the meat or the sauce. Anyway, my husband, who never complains or sends food back, sent it back and asked them to check the steak. They were very apologetic, offered him another meal, and ended up removing his meal from the final bill. Everyone can have an off night I suppose. I felt bad because it was my husband's birthday and we like to celebrate there. This will not stop me from returning.
Excellent as always!! Eggplant and Dover Sole were outstanding.
Wonderful dining experience. Celebrating our friends anniversary and a birthday. Atmosphere was great as was the service and the food. Bertrand, our waiter, was excellent. All four of us tried something different: Rack of lamb, lobster ravioli, orange duck and a seafood risotto. All delicious as was the lobster bisque and salads. And, as usual, the chef came by to see if all was to our liking...and it was. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
This was not our first trip to this restaurant. It is such a special place to celebrate special events. The food was excellent, the service wonderful and just being there with someone special made my birthday very happy. This is a gem of a place and I can hardly wait to return..
This was our third visit and once again we had a delicious meal. We had one of the specials and one item off the menu, plus an appetizers. Everything was excellent. Service is very good. The only caveat is the wine list. Most of the wines are very expensive; it would be nice if there were more choices at more reasonable prices.
We came to celebrate our New Years Anniversary. It was a small menu but still had many choices. Our server was amazing and every food course was delicious. My husband had the King Salmon which he absolutely loved and I had a perfectly prepared filet mignon. There is an extensive wine list. We will definitely be back.
Food was ok, not great. The duck was very good, fish very sauced and veggies were soft. Crab cake was average, Ceasar Salad average. Nothing notable. Restaurant gave us a card for our anniversary which was thoughtful. Will not return.
One of the best, if not the best restaurants, in the Clearwater area. It is very impressive when the chef and owner comes out to check on each table. We love this restaurant.
Fine dining in off the beaten path location leads to better ability to get reservations, and less crowding and noise. All of our meals were excellent. My friend likes duck and said his was one of the best he has had. I had veal scallopini and it was presented well and had great flavor and temperature. Wives had rack of lamb which was also very good. Service was very good and Chef Massimo came to all tables to schmooze and answer any questions
Excellent food with beautiful presentation and very good portions. Must have excellent chef. Great personal service. Will definitely return.
Exceptional fine dining, service, and chef Massimo is absolutely deserving of his many awards!!!! He always stops by the table ask about our meals and just to chat. Very old school.
Massimo's is excellent. The food is amazing and the servers are very competent, friendly and efficient. The chef always comes by at some point to make sure you are happy with your meal and to say hi.
I have been here for lunch a few times but never dinner. The service was timed well but not intrusive. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The chef came out and seemed genuinely interested in our experience. We will certainly be back for special occasions.
I will preface this review that our standards have been skewed after living and eating in New Orleans. However, this is one of the better restaurants in the local Clearwater/Palm Harbor area. The appetizers were very good (riced flower calamari) and excellent (maple leaf duck and brie). If you stick to the regular menu, the prices are VERY reasonable for what you're getting. On the other hand, we heard that the specials are where you get the best of what the Chef has to offer at the moment. The only drawback is that the specials jumped from $20-30 for main entree up to $40-50. One of us had the veal chop which was very good ($47 I believe?) and the other had the lamb rack (regular menu), which was very good as well. The rest of the specials all sounded awesome and we would have been happy with almost anything on the regular menu. The server was very attentive but not to the point of annoyance- which was appreciated. One other thing to note is that although we weren't in a rush nor did we ever feel that from the staff, we were in and out of there within an hour- that's appetizer, drink, main course, and dessert. Granted, it wasn't terribly busy. With all the strip-mall, commercialized, run-of-the-mill food spots up and down Hwy 19, it's refreshing to have some real quality dining nestled in.
This small restaurant serves the best food with a touch of class and very personal service. It is always nice when the Chef comes out of the kitchen and asks you if everything was prepared to your liking.
What a great dinner! Here with friends from out of town and this was our first time at Massimo’s. I would rate this as one of the top restaurants around. Michelle was our server and she treated us like royalty! Will definitely be back again!
Food had very little flavor, I would have rated the food as mediocre at best for the price.
