(Refer to the non-screenshot photo) This was how my black truffle dish looked, and I was very disappointed when it arrived. Compared to photos I have see of the dish online on instagram and my friend's photos (see attached photos), it was a STARK difference. mine had NO significant truffle shavings and instead pepper corns. A huge scam indeed. I ordered the main course side (£5 supplement) and there was no option to top up with truffles, so I am indeed sure I was short-changed. Not sure if they are just trying to cut costs -_- I would recommend Frescobaldi, Daphne's, or Sartoria instead tbh.
Really excellent cooking, but at a price. We went for a quick, pre-theatre dinner wishing to eat well but not heavily. We were able to choose light, but delicious Italian dishes in a really beautiful room with well-chosen music. I did feel that the pricing was toppy- a minute portion of salmon carpaccio for £15, a small bruschetta of salmon and lobster for £20 seems excessive. My husband ate a main course portion of tagliatelle with lobster for £29, which likewise felt too much as the portion was small. Having said all that, the service was excellent and we very much enjoyed ourselves.
Great ambiance and impeccable service!Although food was good when I asked why the £5 supplement for main course portion ,I was expecting a substantial difference but could not see any in reality and am still wondering how the non main course portion looks like.Although had a confirmed booking, was given a table by the staff service entrance/exit so very noisy and no privacy (should not use that table at all).Overall I liked it and would still recommend it.
We enjoyed a really good evening at Massimo's. The ambience is great and the food is fabulous. The service is efficient and attentive without being obtrusive. The wine list is extensive but expect it to be a little on the pricey side. Overall, reasonable value.
We went to Massimo's on a Friday evening for our wedding anniversary. I have to say we chose it because it was close to the theatre we were going on to. But what a find!!
The restaurant is impressive in its own right. The service was excellent. The food was lovely. Good choice of wines, cocktails and soft drinks. Definitely 5 stars.
We would certainly recommend it.
Food very good - we had the set lunch for 35 pounds which is a lot but not too bad for a five star London hotel. The staff were intelligent and helpful. Particularly liked that they offered the option of tapwater - and called it that - typifying the unpretentiousness which was a welcome complement to a spectacularly handsome colonnaded dining room. Some places make you feel guilty if you don't order expensive Perrier or Pellegrino that you don't really want.
Altogether a very nice experience.
Excellent champagne and wine list, exceptionally attentive smiling yet elegant service. Knowledgeable sommelier. Romantic corner table as requested. Food was exquisite and appropriately priced. Quiet enough for conversation. Ornate regal setting. We had the zucchini flowers, risotto Milano for two, the beef, veal scallopini served with sweet fresh tomotatoes reminiscent of Volcanic soil growth, and ended with a sorbet. Well executed and delicious. Brava.
Went for work lunch at Massimo. That place is huge and was mostly empty so we could talk and it was conveniently quiet. Our waiter was pleasant. However, the food is totally OVER-PRICED. I ordered fish (27 pounds) which was tasteless, barely spiced and came with a pathetically small portion of steamed flavourless spinach. The side dish of mixed leave salad contained couple of leaves - with no olive oil, lemon or even salt or pepper - for 6 pounds!!! The other person had a starter, pasta for main course and ice cream for dessert. We had water and one glass of wine and the total bill was over 100 pounds! Daylight robbery for tasteless food in a quiet place.
8 of us went there on a Wednesday. The food was really very good. Pity the service was very slow. The restaurant was about 50% full. It was very difficult to get the attention of the waiting staff and they were really slow in bringing our drinks. One of my friend told a waiter that he is allergic to raw tomatoes but when his dish arrived (which was a meat dish), it had raw tomatoes on it. So, my poor friend had to wait whilst the rest of us had almost finished our dish before he got another one. He changed it to a pasta dish of Cannelloni (so he wouldn't have to wait too long for it to be prepared) and specified that he can eat cooked tomatoes but just not raw ones. When it arrived, it was very dry as there was no sauce on it. He had to send it back and ask for some sauce to be put on it. The sauce had cooked tomatoes but the staff had yet again failed to listen properly. When the bill came, the maitre'd did offer to take a bottle of wine off the total. My friends asked to have the service charge removed which they agreed but when they charged my card, they forgot and I had the service charge included. The 3rd time that the staff had failed to listen. I couldn't be bothered to wait for them to change it but made sure that the rest of my friends were properly charged.
Service was outstanding, really friendly and helpful staff.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and had requested a surprise birthday treat at the end of the meal. This was managed perfectly and truly made the dinner very special! When we received the bill, the waitress informed us that the birthday dessert was not included on the bill as this was on the restaurant - a fabulous treat!
Highly recommend this place, everything was taken care of and executed wonderfully! Thank you for a beautiful evening.
The room is really beautiful but what is great is that there was no loud music (no music at all) so that one could talk easily to the other members of our party and have a relaxing meal. In addition, the tables are not one on top of the other which means that other restaurant guests don't have to partake in your conversations !
The food and service were very good, though towards the end of the meal, the service was very slow which was quite frustrating.
The £30 3 course and glass of Prosecco was fine.
Would probably return for a special occasion.
Service was faultless. Staff friendly and accommodating. We had the 3 course set menu - food was very nice but not wow (as expected). Beautiful presentation. Enjoyed the mixed bread basket. Some reviewers said the portions were small, but there was more than we could eat. Would definitely recommend.
