Masseria dei Vini
Restauranteur Pino Coladonato, Peppe Iuele and Enzo Ruggiero have teamed up again with Interior Designer Libby Langdon, bringing you a modern update version of "Masseria". In the region of Puglia, in South Italy, Masseria were Fortified Farmhouses, and many of them now have been transformed into Restaurants or Hotels.
Executive Chef Pino Coladonato, native of Rutigliano (Bari), has created a menu that blends traditional with modern without overpowering one or the other.
The Menu features typical dishes from Puglia, such as "Crudo", the Italian word for "Raw", made with fish and shellfish, a lot of fresh homemade pastas and Ravioli.
The menu also offers Gourmet Pizza Neapolitan style.
The Restaurant offers an extensive wine by the glass program and a large selection of wine bottles, mainly from Italy, but without ignoring the rest of the world.
We were seated right away with a reservation and the food was fantastic! Definitely try the gnocchi in truffle sauce.
The downsides: noise level was extremely loud and we struggled to hear each other throughout the meal and our waiter offered no specials.
Overall, I thought it was a good!
Taking it a step above the solidly fabulous La Masseria in the theatre district, this new uptown addition will soon become a neighborhood gem.
I love the wonderful tastes—the old standards and experimental combinations! Staff always terrific!
We had a delicious artichoke appetizer!
Each of our entrees were outstanding!
Service is always above and beyond at this restaurant!!
I plan to go back for my birthday later this month!!
Secon time here with 10 people - excellent food and service!
The restaurant is well decorated. It is cozy and somewhat elegant. The food is very good as well as the service. It is a quite place. You can actually talk there.
We were lured to Masseria based on the strong reviews, but the entire experience was underwhelming for us. First, the food was overpriced, and not just for Hell’s Kitchen. I am happy to pay a lot for high-quality meals, but some of the entree prices here ($48 for a slightly above-average venison dish and $39 for a basic risotto) are absurd. Compounding the value proposition is the service, if it can be called that, that we received during our visit. We felt that our server was trying to rush us out of there for some reason, which is contrary to the warmth that we felt at several other Italian restaurants in NYC (or anywhere else, for that matter). There are many better Italian dining options all over NYC.
We had a Wonderful New Year’s Eve dinner with family. We love this neighborhood restaurant!
Masseria dei Vini is one of my go-to restaurants. Super friendly staff. Excellent food. Great for a treat.
Excellent Service! Great Food! Will be back soon!!
It was really delicious and cozy!
Food was amazing and everyone was super friendly!
Everything was great! We walked in at the time of our reservation and were seated immediately! The wait staff was excellent and the the food was better than good. Ambiance is nice could be a bit less noisy but we were fortunate to be seated near the back where it was better.
It was just perfect!
El mesero nos robó el celular, pedimos la revisión de cámaras del restaurante y se negaron, cuando dijimos que íbamos a llamar a la policía curiosamente el smartphone apareció en la recepción del restaurante.....
Our best neighborhood "Go To" for Italian. Always a wonderful meal, very attentive service and creative cuisine. This visit was jam packed, as it was Christmas Eve. Filled with very large parties, but nonetheless, they had their A-game on, and the meal was terrific, drinks as well, great, friendly service....followed by Santa Claus. A perfect evening !
Perfectly fine place for dinner, albeit a little too loud and ridiculously overpriced meatballs, which were just ok.
Following an engagement I had resaved a table to decompress and take in the moment. We were rudely moved to the bar when they discovered that we were interested in desert me yes only, due to it being late and not knowing where else to go nearby we stayed at the bar and ordered. Would not repeat this experience.
Had a reservation and seated immediately. Love the fried zucchini. Very attentive service and delicious food. Very enjoyable!
Great food, great server, great night
Great food, great service, too close quarters
Very good preparation for scallopini al tartufo bianco. Pleasant surroundings and attentive staff.
A delightful ladies luncheon with wonderful food and service.
This is not our first visit. It is our new "go to" restaurant when we have an event at Time-Warner. The food never disappoints and we are always seated promptly. Highly recommend
Very nice, good food and service. Would definitely go again when in NY
Outstanding service, food, atmosphere, lots of character, lots of warmth, tiramisu to die for !!
The first moment you walk into a restaurant is so crucial. I stepped up to the hostess stand while 2 of the female staff were talking to each other, seemingly about a customer. I stood there for a good chunk of time before being acknowledged. Not impressive.
The Maitre D came to show me to my table. He was not particularly nice. The table he offered was not ideal. I would have had my back right up against someone else’s. The place was almost empty, so I asked another employee for another table. He went and got the Maitre D, who had attitude about it and was quite abrupt with me.
The subsequent service and food were good but my experience off the top soured the whole thing. It’s a shame because I’ve been there before and was excited to return.
Beautiful quaint restaurant with particular attention to details and superior service. I felt entirely at home while dining for lunch here. The food was fantastic and beautifully served. They also accommodate Gluten Free diets, which is an absolute necessity in this day and age. The servers were excellent and gave us all of their individualized attention.
At the end of my meal, after the bill had been paid, my server walked up to me, shook my hand, and thanked me profusely. It should be the other way around! My guests used their coat check service and as I stood up to leave the restaurant, the hostess came over to us and requested their tickets so they could have their coats and bags ready by the time we leave out of the front door. Love the small details.
In a highly competitive area for high end dining as well as Italian food establishments, Masseria de Vini stands out above the rest. I highly recommend and will be returning.
Fantastic meal and service except when the waiter chastised our guest for not telling him she was gluten intolerant when actually she did tell him. Otherwise our guests favorite meal from a 4 day trip.
We love this place, and if it wasn't so dear, we'd be regulars.
Wonderful food service
Great restaurant! Would go again!
Masseria dei Vini should be so much better than it is. They clearly have deep pockets and have built a beautiful, calm space with plenty of space between the tables. The wine list is very good, although the knowledge of the list seemed to be spotty among the staff the night we went. Our meals were not very good and the service was quite officious. The pasta was ill-conceived and lacked a balance of flavor. The special (a veal chop) was decent but was served with terribly overcooked vegetables. Overall Masseria needs to review its kitchen and its staffing to be at the level that it has potential to achieve.
Birthday celebration for our son. Simply the best Italian food in NYC.
Wonderful dining and a cozy neighborhood atmosphere
Wonderful dining experience. The service was excellent. The food delicious. And the ambiance spot on. We also enjoyed a post dinner drink at the bar. Amazing evening.
Very good food, a little noisy
We had a lovely lunch with two dear friends. The restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas and was very attractive with white tablecloths. The service was very attentive. The menu was extensive with several additional specials. The portion sizes were very large. Highly recommended!
The menu is very extensive. I especially liked the triangle pasta and the raviolis with veal and wild mushroom sauce. The tiramisu was the best I have had.
