Masseria dei Vini
Restauranteur Pino Coladonato, Peppe Iuele and Enzo Ruggiero have teamed up again with Interior Designer Libby Langdon, bringing you a modern update version of "Masseria". In the region of Puglia, in South Italy, Masseria were Fortified Farmhouses, and many of them now have been transformed into Restaurants or Hotels.
Executive Chef Pino Coladonato, native of Rutigliano (Bari), has created a menu that blends traditional with modern without overpowering one or the other.
The Menu features typical dishes from Puglia, such as "Crudo", the Italian word for "Raw", made with fish and shellfish, a lot of fresh homemade pastas and Ravioli.
The menu also offers Gourmet Pizza Neapolitan style.
The Restaurant offers an extensive wine by the glass program and a large selection of wine bottles, mainly from Italy, but without ignoring the rest of the world.
We visited Masseria dei Vini whilst on a visit from the UK and on recommendation from friends.
Unfortunately the experience wasn’t as good as we expected and we came away disappointed.
Having been fortunate to have eaten in good Italian restaurants both in the UK and Italy we found that whilst the service was good it was rather ‘clinical’ with non of the usual rapport found with staff in other establishments.
The menu was rather limited to one of the party who was dairy intolerant and the staff weren’t very forthcoming in explaining the menu. Also got to say that we weren’t asked if we wanted drinks during or coffee after the meal.
Shame really as we had been so looking forward to visiting.
Outstanding in almost every way. One of our favorite restaurants in the city
Need to go early or the noise is too disturbing.
Excellent food and wine service.
The perfect dining experience just steps from Lincoln Center. The menu never disappoints and the specials are exceptional. I’m a fan of quail and it was on the menu. I ate it contently as I eyed the perfect prawns the diners at the next table were devouring.
We liked the ambiance vibe and the menu prices were reasonable but the food was not so great. The meatballs were hard as a rock and the pizza took forever and when it finally arrived , it was terrible!
We are never disappointed when we dine here. The service and food are excellent. The preparation of the food is notable due to the delicate seasoning that is evident in all servings. The desserts are home made which is another plus. A reservation is needed as the dining room fills up quickly. You will not be disappointed that you came.
Very bad service- slow food and very average . Overpriced
Our go to place, we always love the food and the staff is fantastic.
I love that place .
We live very close by and dine here quite often. We will go long stretches without going there because this is NYC after all. I do wish there was more variety but the food is always great.
My husband and I have had lunch here three times in the past three weeks and Andre will never acknowledge us. He seems to go right over to his regulars or see how diners are doing but aside from pouring wine for us he seems to avoid us for some reason. It’s not like are looking to converse, but his lack of acknowledgement is offensive.
Overall we enjoy this place. Lunch on weekend afternoons are noisy due to a lot of kids and it’s small, but we enjoy the food and the service.
The food is always delicious, the dishes are all out of best quality ingredients freshly prepared, and the presentation is very nice. The staff is extremely friendly efficient and supportive. A special thanks goes to Andrea the manager and the Italian server, (sorry I forgot the name). Excellent wine list! Every time we go is a great experience!
Service a little slow, EXPENSIVE, worth it because food was exceptional, lots of room around table, great location. Wonderful restaurant.
I eat here often and always enjoy it
Truly authentic Cugina Italiana graciously served and molto delizioso.
Excellent in every way and walking distance to Lincoln Center.
Food, wine list, and service were all excellent.
This is an outstanding place for dinner. Whether you are on a date or a business dinner, this place is awesome. Service is always impeccable and the food is over the top. Don't decide on your entree until you hear the specials.
My daughter and I arrived after the opera last evening. The show had been wonderful but the meal we had was disappointing.
My feeling was that we had arrived too late. My experience with this restaurant was far better than the meal we were served. I felt that we were served by the skeleton crew.
They used microwave to heat the soup of the day, so the plate was very hot and the soup still cold
We will be back again and again and with guests. The food and ambiance were perfect and the location couldn't be better for pre-theater (Broadway or Lincoln Center). Wine list is amazing. Kudos to our server Michele for his expertise on every single question we asked him.
What could be better great pizza ! Great wine! Perfect meal!
1st time at this restaurant. Restaurant week menu had really nice selections. Food was great and service was excellent. Will definitely put this restaurant on our “keepers” list
Absolutely delicious food. Service excellent. Sound was loud, and overall a little costly for the value. But a very nice experience. I had orchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe, which was hot, spicy and vibrant. My boyfriend had chicken with mozzarella and prosciutto, also very yummy. Nice delicious wines too.
This was the first time we have been here and it was for Restaurant Week. Very nice menu, very well prepared and cooked food, well presented and served by excellent staff. Nice wine list and very pleasant ambience. We would return.
Nice dinner before going to Lincoln Center. Easy walk to Lincoln Centre. We both got pasta and it was excellent. Coffee was kinda ok. Thought it would be better for an Italian restaurant.
Caring service and delicious food made for a wonderful dining experience. The pasta dishes are outstanding.
Perfect service, menu selection and preparation. Amazing ambiance and decent value ... fine Italian at its best
Food is great. Noise is not. We would go much more often if it were less noisy. We have to shout at each other to be heard, which, of course, adds to the general commotion.
Dinner was a wonderful experience. Friendly, professional service, delicious food, I would say outstanding. We had the veal cotoletta milanesse. The best EVER. I had the same in all NYC restaurants, but nobody compare with the tenderness, perfect cooking, just a dream
This is very good restaurant, it strikes a very hard to achieve balance, in that it has high end food and service in very casual environment. I always recommend it to people who are looking for someplace to eat in the nieghboorhood, I believe most patrons are people from the surrounding area, it’s got that vibe to it.
Overall a fabulous night! Excellent service and delicious food. I cannot wait to go back.
We were seated right away with a reservation and the food was fantastic! Definitely try the gnocchi in truffle sauce.
The downsides: noise level was extremely loud and we struggled to hear each other throughout the meal and our waiter offered no specials.
Overall, I thought it was a good!
Taking it a step above the solidly fabulous La Masseria in the theatre district, this new uptown addition will soon become a neighborhood gem.
Great food with wonderful service and nice environment.
I love the wonderful tastes—the old standards and experimental combinations! Staff always terrific!
We had a delicious artichoke appetizer!
Each of our entrees were outstanding!
Service is always above and beyond at this restaurant!!
I plan to go back for my birthday later this month!!
