About Masona Grill
Since the opening of Masona Grill in Spring 2006, chef/owner Manuel Sifnugel continues to challenge the boundaries of dining pleasure. Having created a unique dining experience with his previous restaurant Claremont Café, a long time South End favorite, Manuel has introduced the Parkway area and beyond to a fine New American cuisine with Mediterranean influence. Cilantro, lime, cumin, mint and ginger are key ingredients in Manuel’s cooking. His eclectic fare extends to the design and ambience of the restaurant. Colorful artwork, contemporary fixtures, hardwood floors and trendy pillows create a cozy yet upscale dining experience in a neighborhood restaurant.

Directly across the street is the commuter rail parking lot from the Highland station in West Roxbury. It is free after 4pm. Cars cannot be left overnight. Parking available along Corey, Park and Centre Streets.

It was a great first time experience at Masona grill. We had a 2 year old who likes to scream (cheerfully) but the restaurant was loud enough that it didn't really bother anyone. But unlike some sports bars, the loudness was manageable and we could still have good communication. Food was superb. I had duck breast and was moist and amazing. I lived the sweet potato on the side. We will go back for sure but it's too pricy for us to go there more than once in couple of months.

The owner advised us shortly after we were seated that someone had called out and that he would both wait on us and cook our meals. Then the two Cabernets on the menu were not available. Our drinks and bread basket arrived fairly quickly and then it was a good long time until our meals were served (we did not order appetizers or salads). We didn’t mind too much as we’re enjoying each other’s company and having good conversation. We ordered dessert and cappuccinos but the coffee cups were only half full. We were the last party at the restaurant by the time we left. Overall good food. A little chilly to go in the winter. Too bad they were so short staffed.
We had a lovely dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal and each other's.
The wines were of high quality and complemented the meals. Desert was outstanding and our server brewed fresh decaf for us. Outstanding dining experience at a reasonable cost. This is my third time eating at Masona. Each experience was exceptional dinning.
I think this was an off night for them. We have been there before and been very satisfied. The food was not well prepared the fries were not cooked through, and there was a thick brown gravy smothering the scallops.
I think there was a trainee cooking the meal.

A good menu from which everyone can find an appealing dish. The dishes are well prepared and presented. Large portions and very satisfying. An excellent, moderately priced wine list. The owner was our server....attentive and lots of fun. This restaurant has been in business for 11 years and continues to be a great value.
They seemed short staffed, and we waited a while for our food. But it was well worth waiting for! The paella was indescribably delicious!
Tres leches dessert also was amazing. Hadn't been there in a while. I remembered the ambiance a little nicer than it actually is. In any case, the food was top notch!
This is my third or fourth time dining at Masona Grill this summer and the experience was again delightful. The consistency of good food, good service, and atmosphere conducive to conversation makes this restaurant a personal local favorite. Members in our party had Fish and Chips, seared Scallops, the Eggplant, and Mussels (as their entree) after beet and Caesar salads. All were very good.
I have been to Masona many times and, once again, it didn't disappoint. My friend and I shared the outstanding Caesar salad (anchovies on the side) and mussels as appetizers. I had the shrimp and clams linguine, which is slightly spicy, and my friend had the tuna, which is prepared rare (and perfect). Service was courteous and well timed as usual.
Food is amazing! Very delicious. Well presented . Very generous portions. Appetizers, main courses and desserts were all outstanding for our party of 5. Lefts overs for 3 hearty eaters were delicious the next day too. Special occasion for our family of 5 filled with lots of wonderful food, service, attention, conversations ( sometimes loud!) and fun- celebrating an anniversary and a birthday! Never a disappointment at Masona. The owner is super attentive and sweet. Go and go often as they vary some of the menu!
Welcomed warmly by Rob upon arrival. Nice wines and great menu selections. We like fish: I had seared tuna and the other person had sautéed scallops. Presentation on elongated plate was lovely and food did not disappoint. We enjoyed salads first: one roasted beet with feta (nice change from the usual goat cheese) and the other Caesar (minus the anchovies). Staff was attentive and friendly.
Have not been here for awhile but still wonderful. Best menu in the West Roxbury, Hyde Park, Dedham, Chestnut Hill and JP area. They have added a bar/pub menu with 4-5 items at a great price point, so you don't need a special occasion to go! Had the watermelon, feta and olive salad with balsamic glaze which was outstanding. We had the sea scallop special and pork Milanese as our main course. Presentation, quality and quantity was exceptional and had some to take home!
We got the peruvian paella and seared tuna entrees. Love the first, the latter was not seared at all, pretty much cooked and the sauce was too sour for my liking. Wish they still had the seared scallops dish. I saw a lot of negative reviews on yelp about the owner being rude to Groupon users but we did not meet him. Waiter Kevin was good. We had no problems with him. Pretty expensive meal for just going out on a weeknight date but we like to try new things.
