View Private Dining DetailsOur family of six were celebrating a birthday and looked forward with anticipation to a wonderful meal at Mason Street Grill. 3 of our group chose a filet, a NY strip, and a ribeye. The presentation was unremarkable to say the least. There, on plain white plates, sat a slab of meat
---no garnish of any kind, not even a pennies' worth of parsley; no drizzle to add some character to the presentation; just these slabs of beef that made one feel that there was no thought at all as to how to properly plate an entree so that the presentation invites a warm feeling, tantalizes one's tastebuds and makes one feel that someone cares about the guest. Yes, the beef was tender but for $38, $48 and $58 respectively, one would expect much more than tender meat. The staff was solicitous and gracious, but something needs to be done about the presentation of the meals in a place that is priced as upscale.
Always love dining at mason street grill. Food is always good but they really step things up when it comes to service. I’ve had great experiences with Blake and Elizabeth specifically but I’m sure the entire team is fantastic!
Honestly I think this place is ridiculously underrated in this city. The lack of critic acclaim seems almost political to me. It’s absurd that they are left off of local critic “best of” lists.
Never Disappoints. Always good service.
As we were going to theater, we wanted to eat lighter. The appetizer menu presents outstanding choices: Seared Ahi, Mussels braised in beer & Shrimp & grits- all wonderful.
Food was good and reasonably priced. The live music in the lounge/bar was FANTASTIC!! I ate in the lounge/bar and noise level is what you would expect with live music.
We were celebrating my wife's birthday at the Chef's Counter. What a fun place to watch a talented team perform. Our moderately priced bottle of Napa cab was peppery and delicious. Cheese strudel off the Chef's menu was a flakey, delightful app. We split a perfect Caesar salad with real anchovies, so often overlooked. My wife had scallops. I had sole, mine off the Chef's menu. We both raved about the freshness, flavor and top shelf presentation. Mason Steet Grill is known for fine cuts of meat, but don't forget the exceptional seafood! Apple crisp a la mode (cinnamon ice cream; so good) with glasses of house cab topped off an evening we both thoroughly enjoyed. This establishment is one of Southeastern Wisconsin's best!
We always have a wonderful time and a delicious meal at the Mason St., Grill!
We were staying at the Pfister, so this was convenient. Overall it was a great dinner.
Great! Our Server Graham was awesome! Memorable and happy with our choice to celebrate anniversary at the Mason Grill! Thank you!
We went there before a show at the Riverside. We told them in advance, so the server immediately asked when we would like to leave to get to the show. Because we had just over an hour, we didn't order a bottle of wine - but from previous visits, know their bottle wine list is nice. We also didn't have any appetizers. The women in the group both ordered the chicken dumpling, which was great comfort food. The men both ordered the burger. One really liked his, the other did not - too much on it to properly eat it. Plus he probably should have ordered his medium-rare instead of medium as it was more well done than he liked.
The restaurant got us out with plenty of time to walk to the show. Nicely done.
We were seated at a table that was shared with 6 other people but asked to be placed somewhere else and it was done without any questions which we really appreciated it. Just wanted more privacy and less noise
Great for a business meal. Very quiet with great food. I also have several food allergies including gluten and dairy and they were easily able to modify most dishes. Fantastic steaks - mine was medium rare and it was cooked to perfection.
Excellent French onion soup.
The 64 hrs. Braised short ribs were so delicious ...64 hrs of pure perfection!
My waiter Brady was very helpful, personable and pleasant. Thanks for the great service!
Amazing ambiance and the jazz trio was very good.
It’d be very nice to offer the option to have gluten free bread with my meal.
It was an extraordinary experience. The food was so savory, very delicious and the service was absolutely wonderful we felt like royalty Loved it! We will be coming back again and again we have never had such flavorful melt in your mouth food or such truly beautiful outstanding experience as we did here at The Mason Street Grill. Thank you so very much!
Every aspect of the meal was delicious and the service was on point, but you pay a premium for it. The starter bread was super fresh and worth the carbs ;). The Ahi tuna and cheeseburger meatball apps were delicious and flavorful. Loved the beet salad - dressing was perfect. I ate shrimp app for dinner since I was too full for a cake cheese complete meal.
We’ll be back for a special occasion.
Enjoyed our meals, rib-eye and NY strip and the sides. Dessert was also fantastic.
Amazing service and steaks that cannot be beat!
Very good food and location.
The service was GREAT. Graham, our server, was very knowledgeable and made some good recommendations. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered the $58 aged steak, it was not tender and had a very tough 'string' running through it. Although Graham did recommend I get something to go with the steak...mushrooms, sauce etc., I felt that a great streak can stand on its own...this was not a great steak, very little flavor. My friend ordered steak and fries, again, a very mediocre steak. At these prices, I expected much more. I won't be recommending this place to anyone
Great service and food
Guests at the Pfister and had three kids under age of 6. They took note and promptly sat us, brought crayons, and got drinks and kids meals ordered. Loved the love music and the food was phenomenal. Alexa our server was very attentive and friendly. Very cool environment and nice menu and beverage selections.
Elizabeth out server was pleasant and
Served very well!
We both ordered the Veal Oscar $$ It was over cooked and tasteless. Even the Holandiase was weak!! NOT a GOOD value . The wine was reasonable restraunt priced. The SERVICE was outstanding!!!
Our server John provided wonderful service. We had the ahi tuna appetizer which was delicious. The steaks tasted great. I will continue to come here!
We were at MSG for the first time to celebrate two birthdays. The service was outstanding and the Steaks (all four of us had) were delicious. We have eaten at the 5'O clock club, Capital Grill, Palmers and Carnevor and the experience at MSG holds up well to all of those.
As far as value goes though, to buy a $50 Steak (or 4 in this case) and not have a starch or salad included is a bit rich. You literally get a Steak on a plate for $50 and nothing else.
We would recommend but would let friends know the very ala carte approach to the meal /menu
Grady treated us well. He checked in with us often. The steak my husband ordered was so delicious. I always love candlelight and fresh flowers on the table. Overall, pleasant experience.
Always great!
OUR SERVER, GRADY WAS WONDERFUL...PATIENT, KIND AND WELL VERSED. HE MADE OUR EXPERIENCE VERY ENJOYABLE.
Lauris was excellent server. Food wonderful as usual. Ever more costly for lunch however.
Our group of 3 had a very pleasant dinner. We were pleased with everything, especially our waiter, Chris. We come to Mason Street Grill after our REP plays on Sunday afternoons. The Sunday Night Special dinners are especially appealing to all of us. Keep up the good work, and the great food.
We started our evening in the bar. Very well stocked and the bartenders are very well trained. We sat at the chefs counter and it was a perfect place to watch the entire kitchen staff working like a well oiled machine. Our appetizers were wonderful and our dinner was excellent. The entire staff made our anniversary very special.
We went for a special occasion, it was definitely the right place. They have live music from 6-11. The waitstaff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is expensive, very good but expensive. The steak was like butter, perfect. You get a lot in the sides, it turned out to be too much food. It was fun, we really enjoyed it.
I always go here when I'm in Milwaukee. It's the best!
Had a wonderful time as usual. You can “set your watch” to the consistent service, food and overall quality. Hutch runs this place like a Swiss watch. Everyone is on their game nightly. Waters full, plates cleared and wait staff never missing a beat. John was an amazing server. Attentive, conversant and always prompt and professional. Grady stopped by to say hello and it’s nice seeing the consistent team that truly understands customer service. Great job. Food was amazing - bone in ribeye is amazing!
Arrived at 5:30 with reservations. They seemed to be still setting up the dining room for dinner. We were seated at a nice booth with a good view of the kitchen. It took 10 minutes to get water and for the extra place settings at our table to be removed. It took 15 minutes to get a drink and 20 minutes to get bread. Our two medium filets arrived with a large trio of side orders. The one half of one filet was medium-well done but the other half was medium as ordered. The other filet was medium as ordered. The flavor was very good. The truffled cream spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, and the asparagus were all very good. The server surprised us with a piece chocolate cake and a piece of carrot cake and two flutes of champagne as we were celebrating birthdays and a retirement. Very nice touch to a special meal. The server was quite polite and was there as needed. Overall the meal was good. Next time I’d specify more directly the desire of the steak to be cooked medium.
Ambiance and service was excellent. Food was good but too expensive. Wine and drinks were small. Overall, not worth the price. There are better steak houses for less $.
Mason street grill never disappoints! We came to celebrate two birthdays and the service was exceptional, Grahm was knowledgeable, passionate and attentive. He clearly loves his job and is excellent at it. All of our fish was very good but I would say that the fried perch as not up to the normal level I am used to. It was not bad, but I would order one of the fresh catches of the day and get a fish fry some place else. Your chef knows too much to be worrying about different kinds of fish in a deep fryer. The sides were so tasty , the wine was delicious and our desert was special. Thank you
We sat at the counter for a quick meal before theatre. The staff was very responsive and kept a close eye on the time. The food (filet & scallop special) was perfectly prepared, and the side of bernaise sauce was a perfect complement. This remains one of our favorite Milwaukee restaurants.
Our server, Michael, added to the enjoyment of our experience. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and Michael's professional, friendly attention and the wonderful food made it special.
Food was off. Waiter forgot our appetizer order.
Grady was wonderful and remember us from last time we were there.
