First time at Mason Social. We live close and we thought the menu had some great offerings. We had four adults and two children. Our adult companions do not eat spicy food at all and felt that the burgers were the best non-spicy option. They said that the burgers were good. My husband ordered the meatloaf with the habanero ketchup on the side. His plate was stuffed full with meatloaf, brussel sprouts, crispy onions and street corn. The meatloaf was good, a little heavy on the garlic and would be elevated if it had been seared for a minute. The brussel sprouts were fine but greasy. The street corn was good but kind of random with everything else. I ordered the steak pasta to appease one of the children. The steak was cooked very unevenly. I ordered it without spice and medium well (again, child). Many pieces of the steak were medium at best, some were well. The pasta was boxed penne, sauce was so thin it didn’t really coat the pasta. The veggies were fine. The value of the pasta dish as compared to the meatloaf was very skewed. The water glasses are like tall shot glasses. One of our companions attempted to order three common drinks but the clear was unable to make any. Not sure that we would return.
Delicious comfort food. The cocktails also great
Enjoyable neighborhood restaurant. Very good food. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly bar counter.
Great atmosphere and food / drinks and convenient located
The service was great, atmosphere was clean and stylish but the food was extremely bland and underwhelming:/
Everything was ok. Maybe this Sunday night was slow cuz of football and Nats game. I would come back but I’m not in any rush.
We had a really nice time at mason social last night. The food and service were very good. The only qualm was that there was a class reunion going on in their dining section and at one point of the night it got VERY loud. To the point my husband and I couldn’t hear each other. I don’t think that’s very common so I will def return to try more of the menu. Overall, despite the noise, we really enjoyed ourselves and the server even recognized my birthday (no freebies offered FYI).
Visited for my birthday brunch! The only critique is that they didn’t have real/pure maple syrup. It’s a simple thing that makes or breaks a quality brunch.
This was the second time I had brunch at Mason Social with the first experience being good enough that I brought my family back. This visit wasn't half as good. By noon on Sunday (they open at 11...), they were out of my drink from the bar, out of one of the French Toasts and out of the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Service was only ok. Food came out fast but was only ok. Not going to rush back.
This was a good restaurant with delicious food and the waitress was very nice to my three year old, but it's definitely for the drinking/out for a night crowd (no other kids were in that restaurant).
Appears to be a place on the way down. One server trying her best. One cook? Dirty windows and doors. Too much to be done, too few employees to do it. Two stars at best.
Must have been a bad day. Food came out very late, and lukewarm. Food didn’t come out together, it trickled out. My lucky charms French toast was just weird and “charred.” (They ran out of marshmallows so this drastically changed the flavor, I guess.) Took forever for payment to process. All that being said it looked like there was only one server for the whole restaurant which could’ve been part of the problem. Big letdown
The empanadas, watermelon salad, jerk pork sliders, and rockfish over risotto were fantastic. Can’t wait to go back again
I had the pre-fix for restaurant week, which we good, although the portion of fish was rather small. My friend had steak frites, but the fries were cold and soggy. Service was average.
Pretty sure the fish I ordered was not fresh and the meal overall was just lacking in flavor. It's a nice space, quiet, service was competent, but the food is just not all that good.
The restaurant overall was not very busy. It turned out to be a party of two rather than four. My guest and I sat at the bar
Loved the ambience, style and food, will come back for sure
Great meetup place for Saturday Brunch - we had a great meal and Fiona was a great server......she shared interesting menu items and some items that were popular on the menu. We love this place with great HH bites and lunch and dinner items as well. It was yummy!
Good value for price. Nice neighborhood place. Friendly service. Good variety on menus, but not too big. A favorite.
We love this place -- consistently good food and nice service. They also have outdoor dining!
Mark the manager is a very friendly and attentive person.
Great meal, good service and nice time. Enjoyed drinks at bar before dinner.
Great location if you don't want to be in the middle of Old Town, but still in Alexandria. Good menu options. Food was tasty and price was as expected in the area. Lots of 2hour parking around. Will defn return, but wish the noise level was a little lower.
Very good all around. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Alexandria. Great fried chicken!
Interesting menu of lunch items including Taco Tuesday items. Everything was very good for a solid four-start rating. Tasty Southwest salad was my fav; very much appreciated they served freshly cooked chicken for this salad and not some dried thing they dragged out of the refrig and microwave like some places. Would definitely go again.
This was my first time at Mason Social. I had a group of 5 and chose this place because the other place I was going to choose was going to put us at a high top table. When I got to Mason Social they had almost all high top tables and very few regular tables. They said they could not accommodate us at a regular table because of other small party reservations coming in. When I told them that the only reason I chose this restaurant was so that I wouldn't have to be in a high top they said we could have another table after the other table was finished. Then walked in a large party that included a baby and a 90 yr old woman and they tried to put them at a high top as well. The poor woman had no way of getting into that high of a chair and after they had to complain as well, they finally put them at a regular table. The high top tables must be new as my friends say they were not there last time. They really need to rethink that choice. No one likes high top tables unless they are going to happy hour. The food and drinks were fine. Just awkward watching every group that came in not want to sit at the high top tables.
They acted like they didn’t know what to do. Bar was lively but overall the place wasn’t packed so we were disappointed with the length of time needed to get our drinks (2 glasses of wine, a marguerita and a beer). Beer was accompanied by a warm glass.
Food was a pleasant surprise but not sure if we’ll be back
Good food and drinks for a happy hour or casual dinner date.
Great menu options but the turn out was not as positive. Some of the food was over cooked or just bland and did not live up to the hype but maybe brunch is more their specialty or so I’ve heard.
Great fish tacos on Tuesday!
We headed to Mason Social for after-church brunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything came out hot and was delicious! I look forward to returning. 😊
Great service and AMAZING food!!! Would recommend this place to everyone!
Food was very good. Our server was inexperienced and needed more training although he tried hard to please Music was way too loud and had to ask to have the volume turned down which they did.
Graduation
Very generic yuppie food, weak waitstaff, too many tables crammed together( think airplane seating), don’t seem like they’re really trying. A tad pricey too. Not returning
Mason Social was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a friendly hostess & chose to dine outside due to the nice temperature and light breeze. It was too nice to be indoors. Everything from the waitress, servers & food was top notch. We loved our Pigs on a blanket appetizer & the spinach salad with grilled salmon as well as the BLT sandwich. They have wonderful unsweetened ice tea and it it served in mason jars... The bathrooms are very clean with plenty of hot water. Thank you so much to the team at Mason Social!! We will be back!
First time dining here. A little disappointed, the salad on all 3 plates had quite a few pieces of slimy wilted lettuce. Didn't get exactly what I ordered but was able to switch out with someone at my table. The rest of the food was decent but I wouldn't go back for Sunday brunch. Service was average, servers polite.
Sat at the bar with Austin as our bartender. Fun guy with nice interactions. My friend and I shared the grits entree and benny 2 ways. Eggs were overcooked on the grits and the grits were INCREDIBLY garlicky. Nice consistency though, just hard to taste anything else. We got a filet benny and crab cake. Both flavorful and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Ordered the filet medium rare, it came out basically well done but was still tender. The dressing on the little salad that comes with the benny was probably my favorite part. I had a mimosa and coffee, both fine and what you would expect. I've been for dinner before and have been underwhelmed but I'd go back for brunch.
Our first time and it was a good experience. Will go back and sample some of the other items.
Service was less than expected, especially for a special day (Mother’s Day). Did not provide appetizer ordered, so had to request it not be included on bill. Service was slow and not attentive.
