This restaurant is permanently closed. Mason Pacific is a casually elegant neighborhood bistro nestled along the cable car line at the intersection of Nob Hill, Russian Hill and Chinatown. Chef Max Mackinnon crafts a seasonal menu of simple, flavorful dishes, creatively elevated through technique and preparation. I did love this spot last time ... too bad it's closing next week. Maybe that's why the food was rather unremarkable and the attitude of the brown-haired waiter was so aloof ... already somewhere else.

After our lukewarm rose arrived (our first choice of wine was out), I knew we were in trouble. For the price-the service was decidedly poor and the food was meh. One dish was way over salted and the others lackluster. This was my first time and I was disappointed. It will be my last visit.

Aside from the food, which was great. Our server was very professional, skillful, and on point. I am a nurse and worked as a waitress for many years. I do not not recall her name, however, she should be recognized for her ability to read a dining situation and work accordingly. Thank you Mason Pacific for a good meal and great time!

We had a great brunch experience at Mason Pacific, Food was excellent.
And the staff went out of their way to make things happen. They excelled in their hospitality!
Would highly recommend people to try out Mason Pacific for their food and service.

Superlative service - attentive yet not disruptive - some of the best service I've ever received - excellence achieved!

Sumptuous small plates and the pork chop is truly excellent in every way.

Make it here for dinner and you will be amazed.

Food was good though expensive; service was excellent and they did respond as promised to a prior reservation cancellation when repairs from their small fire had not been completed on time by comping us wine and an extra dessert. They have removed some of the less expensive choices from their menu which may account for the less full restaurant. However, they provide NO bread unless you buy it from them. I do not eat in restaurants with this behavior (which I have only encountered at one other in the U.S.) and do not expect to return.

We had a great evening at Mason Pacific! The food was delicious. Our server Eric suggested the octopus as an appetizer and while we were a bit doubtful, we went with it and were sooooo pleased! It was tender and delightful! As were the burrata and assorted cheeses from cowgirl creamery. Our rack of lamb, halibut and salmon were also wonderful!!! Such a great night out.
Would highly recommend.

We were very excited to try one of their charcuterie boards and while the food was excellent they forgot to bring that board out and the prices were not cheap. so while the food was good, there was too little to enjoy for the price we paid.

The pork chop was delicious but the Caesar salad was not good. It had way to much of an Anchove base to it. Also any restaurant that pours a sixteen dollar glass of wine should give no less than five ounces the glasses were filled to about 3.5 ounces. That is a horrible look for a restaurant.

The cheese was great as was the table and the service but please give more value for your food and drinks. It's not acceptable to pour that small a glass of wine. I'm always happy to pay top dollar for elite food but when the food comes out like that with limited wine glass pours I take my services elsewhere.

As usual, such a rememberable experience. Staff goes well
beyond and the food is predictably fantastic. Best of all, the wine list is so thoughtful - I found terrific of my favorite wines there!
