Masala Bites Ratings and Reviews
I have not been to an Indian food restaurant in over 20 years. At the request of a friend I made a reservation for dinner. I was so glad that I did. The food and the atmosphere was incredible. We tried several appetizers and split a main course. There was more than enough food to satisfy a hardy appetite. I have truly discovered a new love for Indian cuisine. I will definitely not be 20 years before I eat there again. The staff were very friendly and ensured all our our needs were met. The price was definitely reasonable for the amount of food we ate. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great evening and awesome food.
Very disappointed!! We had dined there two previous times, which were quite impressive experiences. However, this time was as if there was a new owner. It was completely tasteless tandoori! Had to tear off the bone. In addition, we were the only ones there at the start and all of the staff was talking behind bar rather than taking our drink order. As Chesapeake residents, we have decided never to make the trip back to Masala Bites!!!
This is a place we frequent and the food is ALWAYS outstanding and the service wonderful. Don't let the outside fool you, this is a quality choice. Entrees are a little pricey but worth it for the portion sizes. Also, if you are afraid of Indian cuisine due to its heat, don't be. They let you choose the level of spiciness that best suits your palate. Try it soon...you won't be disappointed.
Being lovers of Indian food, we went out of our way to visit this restaurant. Our experience was that it did not live up to the raves. First the good - the poppadums were homemade and the carrot chutney also homemade, both excellent. One of the poppadums was burned, though, and should never have been brought to the table. The lamb was very nice; the korma, which is a delicately flavored dish, was awful. It was so over spiced with pepper all the delicate korma flavors were lost. When we ordered dessert, kulfi, which was excellent, the waiter whisked away our dirty plates but left us sitting at a table with spilled raita, rice, bits of poppadum, etc. We tried to signal him multiple times to ask him to wipe it, but he seemed oblivious. Finally my husband, disgusted, wiped it off himself. We waited and waited for our kulfi, which after all is ice cream and just needs to be put on a plate and served. We asked the waiter to check on it, and he said in an annoyed voice, "It's coming, it's coming." Since we left angry and will never return, I'm wondering if it even deserves the "poor" rating I gave it.
We dined at Masala Bites two years ago, on our last trip to Sandbridge. We had a terrific meal with very good service and were very pleased the restaurant has gained in popularity since that time. We dine at many Indian restaurants in Pennsylvania and Delaware, and this one is by far the best! Too bad it's not close to our home. Looking forward to our next trip to VA and another meal at this restaurant.
Ate here on a Thursday night with another couple and enjoyed the experience. I am not a huge fan of Indian cuisine but this place may change that. It was all good from the cauliflower appetizer to the Taj Mahal beer to the chicken Tandoori. All delicious. Others at the table had eggplant with tofu and a wonderful spinach dish. We were united in our praise for this gem.
