Masala Art serves contemporary Indian cuisine fused with Chinese flavors. The interior of the restaurant is casual with hints of Indian culture in its decor. Beside modern Indian food, the menu at Masala Art also features dishes made using secret family recipes and traditional techniques.
The Indian tapas menu offers several options for you to begin your meal with. Try the mango chicken satay, chicken pakoras or sweet potato fries. A variety of specialty chaats are also available, including paani poori, pao bhaji and vada pao. Taste the fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors in appetizers like chicken lollipops and the garlic tuna roll. Main course options include a variety of curry dishes. Enjoy your dishes with naan or steamed basmati rice. Masala Art also offers some South Indian entrees, including lemon rice and vada sambhar.
I am delighted to write a review for Masala Art. Indian food has always been a bit of a challenge for me as the names of the dishes are difficult for me to remember. I recently when to the Tenley restaurant for lunch. Dilli recognized me from a previous visit and greeted me warmly. He recommended the lunch buffet and personally guided me through the selections, describing each dish in detail along with the traditional condiment combinations and the traditional grains/bread to accompany each dish. He was incredibly attentive, engaging, and I could not have felt more indulged. The other waitstaff were also very friendly and my iced tea never was unfilled and my dishes were cleared away very promptly (with an invitation to re-visit the buffet). An additional pleasure was the fruit salad as one of the dessert offerings.
To me, good service and overcome challenged cooking, but good food rarely can compensate for bad service. I enjoyed both GREAT service and GREAT food. Dilli and the other servers were GREAT.
We used to enjoy the food quite a bit at Masala Art but in recent months, the quality and taste have been rather inconsistent. Their food does not seem fresh. They are innovative in their menu and offer some wonderful items, especially from the tandoor but it can be a hit or miss!
We went to Masala Art based on recommendation from a few of our friends. I am sorry to say that we were extremely disappointed by the service and taste of the food. First the service, it was extremely slow and sporadic. The waiter did not attend to us until after 10 minutes of being seated. The hostess was not friendly at all and did not greet us as we came in. Once we ordered the food, it took quite a long time until it came to our table. The quantity and quality of dishes left us very disappointed. All the dishes pretty much tasted the same and were not spicy at all. We ordered Achari chicken tikka and Karahi chicken, which almost tasted the same as if same spices were used to prepare both the dishes. Achari chicken had no Achari spices. Overall, we did not have a good experience at Masala Art and would not recommend it, unless you want to waste your money.
We enjoyed a terrific buffet lunch, were surprised that there were so few people taking advantage of this neighborhood restaurant.
Food was pretty good, alittle pricey compared to other Indian restaurants. But it must be the rent is higher in Needham, mass
Best lunch buffet ever! Always new and interesting options, plentiful and delicious!
We have had better experience at Masala Art. Under staffed thus long wait.
As usual the food was wonderful. It was a Sunday and they had their brunch offering, which looked extensive. We, though, ordered off the menu; even have had their week day buffet. We were introducing a couple to Indian food and wanted specific items we thought they would enjoy, as it was a cuisine they were not familiar with. All items ordered were cooked to perfection and served right from the stove/oven. Even with the crowd for brunch and their front room being taken over by a birthday party service was very good. This was a noticeable feat as the customer count was high. We had a reservation made for Noon at it was ready when we arrived and we were seated promptly.
Chicken Tikka was tough and like Rubber, Paneer dish was cold used Frozen Paneer tough,
Staff wasn't knowledgeable about the food and beverages in Menu.
Never offered dessert, Water was filled at the Table in glasses in prior to our arrival,
Water has No ice and was very room temperature, Server never offered or ask for Spring or Fizzi water
Never appreciate or any one said Thanks for the visit at their restaurant.
Over all Bad experience. Restaurant wasn't busy had only Two other Tables but staff pretend like very busy for Nothing, Had no time for Hospitality.
We would never ever go again there or recommend any one.
Our group shared two lamb dishes and a Chicken Saag as well as a bread basket of naan. It was all very tasty with the Chicken Saag being the standout. I appreciate the breadth of gluten free options. The service was a little uneven but pleasant.
