The service was a bit slow with refilling the mimosas, but not terrible. My main complaint was the food menu. It’s probably been about a year since I had brunch at Masa 14, but I feel like the list of options on the bottomless brunch menu has gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Now, the list is restricted enough that I really had trouble eating enough to be satisfied. Personally, I don’t like to order “breakfast food” when I have brunch—and unfortunately, breakfast options now make up the vast majority of the options for food items that are substantive enough to make a mea out of. I hope Masa 14 will expand its brunch menu once again to include more of the options it has offered in years past.
Service was excellent. The food, as it was explained to us, is Asian-Mexican-American fusion. We ordered the steam buns and the coconut ceviche. The buns were 3/5 ok and the ceviche was terrible. The ceviche was 1/5 had no flavor and it tasted like all the ingredients were prepared separately and shrimp were boiled. It tasted like strange unseasoned cold coconut soup.
Masa 14 has the best brunch in all DC. I've gone three times now and done bottomless every time but it's a good deal even for those who want to order a la carte. The food is amazing and highly varied but I always end up getting a couple orders of the fried rice and churros. The drinks are also all good and you get a large selection. I've gone on dates and I've gone with 8 person groups and service has always been extremely attentive and friendly. Plates and glasses are refilled at lightning speed.
Masa 14 is great value and a wonderful experience. Can't recommend it highly enough.
I made a reservation for four people several days in advance. They called me the afternoon of, to confirm we were coming. When we got there, we saw that the whole restaurant was closed for a private party. They sent us up the long steep flight of stairs to their bar area. It was still happy hour, so it was packed and very loud. No one was there to meet us. A quick scan showed there were no tables open. We went back down. Just talk to someone up there, she said. I went back up and made my way to the bartender. He made some young people move their stuff off of one table and sat us there. It was dark and VERY loud. We found ourselves out for a nice meal NOT in a restaurant but in the corner of a happy hour bar scene on 14th. That said, the server took decent care of us, the noise level went down a couple of notches after happy hour ended, and the food was good. I'm just not sure why they didn't say that they wouldn't take any reservations that night because of a private party. It was our first time there and I'd love to go back to eat as it's in my neighborhood, but I'd definitely confirm with them that we wouldn't end up in a similar situation again.
Everything was amazing!! The waitress made it even better. She was on top of everything and even with my tipsy friends she did amazing. Thank you Dora for your hard work!!!
Nice spot for weekend brunch. Great deal at $39 for unlimited small plates, mimosas and bloody Mary’s. Overall food was decent. Definitely don’t miss the kimchi fried rice and miso bacon. Service was pretty much what you’d expect from a busy restaurant trying to turn over tables and keep people from downing unlimited cocktails all day. Would be fun to go again with a group.
I've been to Masa14 for brunch on two separate occasions and I can say that both times were quite enjoyable and I've also had happy hour there. I like the atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food and drinks quality are also good, one of the nice places to got to in DC that won't take all of your money to have a good time.
Wonderful little gem! It was my first time visiting Masa 14 for Sunday brunch, but I know I will be back. Do yourself a favor and order the all inclusive brunch. It may seem pricey up front (~$35 if I remember correctly) but it's worth it. The food is served tapas style so if you only order one plate and think that will be enough, you'll be disappointed in the amount (but not the quality). All inclusive brunch comes with unlimited mimosas and a few other adult beverage options. Make the most of it and come with a group of friends to share all of the goodies on the menu. The menu is a bit limited as far as range of food options but everything is tasty. Start with the churros, because dessert for an appetizer is always a good move.
Great service and the Asian Mex fusion was excellent. Loved the tacos, chicken satay and the flat breads. Ceviche was good as well. Drinks were on the sweeter side. The unlimited package was a good value. The service ensured a great evening.
The bottomless brunch was to die for and worth the price if you bring your appetite. We loved all the menu options, both food and drink. The servers were very attentive - there was no lapse between drinks and plates. I would highly recommend Masa 14!
Overall experience was very good. We did the unlimited tapas and I was very glad that we did that because some dishes were outstanding and others were ok. The dishes that were outstanding under the cold mezes included: the two tuna mezes and the seaweed salad. Under the hot mezes the tofu , salmon, beef short rib were all outstanding. Unto the ho-hum in this category from good to ok to worst the slaw, the tuna kimchi roll, the cold salmon mezze.
For brunch they offer a great deal with a variety of food and drinks.
Went here for brunch and was underwhelmed. The server couldn’t explain whether we would get small plates or entrees. My chilaquiles were soggy and My Bloody Mary had a glob of tomato paste at the bottom.
London was a great waitress! super kind and attentive.
I always take out-of-town guests here for the all-you-can-eat brunch, and I am never disappointed. Sometimes items phase in and out of their menu, which can be disappointing when it's one of my favorites, but the additions are always amazing. This weekend, I took my food aficionado uncle, and he approved, so I considered it a huge success.
We found Mass 14 whilst looking for a place for early drinks pre dinner
Great find - delicious menu and very very reasonable given happy hour included some food and also sushi was half price
I would like to discuss my experience... please reach me during the evening hours at 646 235 2983.
My sister and I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The specialty drinks were fantastic.. dark and stormy and the monito!! All
Winners. Our server Austin did a great job and was very attentive.. we will be back!!
Attentive service and good food! Great combination of flavors and interesting variety.
I've done the bottomless brunch twice now and been incredibly pleased both times. The service is excellent so you never go too long without a drink or food refill. There is no disappointing item on the menu. Even the yogurt parfait is top notch. The group's favorite items were the churros, the kimchi fried rice, and the sambal scrambled eggs. If you don't want to drink, they'll do bottomless food for $25 which is a great deal for the variety, quality, and quantity you get.
My recommendation is to make a reservation in advance and to plan to take the full two hours.
Friends and I have been to Masa 14 a number of times and never fail to enjoy our visits there. As a person with some food quirks, I appreciate the chef's willingness to make modification to a dish as described (e.g., sauce on the side, swapping out one cheese for another) if it can be done without totally undermining the intended taste.
My friend and I met for drinks and dinner. We arrived quite early before many other patrons arrived so we decided to sit at the bar rather than in the main dining area. The drinks and tapas style dishes were very good and a great value during happy hour. The mojitos were refreshing and well balanced. We ordered crispy shrimp, pork belly buns and short rib sliders which were a deilicious complement to our libations. Our bar tender/waiter was a very good mixologist and a friendly.
Im sure it gets more lively later in the evening. Mada 14 is a very nice place to enjoy an evening.
This restaurant came highly recommended by friends for the innovative food but our brunch experience fell really short. We enjoyed only 3 out of the 11 small plate menu items ordered - the potatoes, chilaquiles and korean fried chicken were great! It was a disappointing meal, exacerbated by the intense noise level that was reverberating in the entire restaurant. Our server was attentive and we appreciated her coming by to check on us and making sure we had everything we needed. I don't remember her name but her service was wonderful. Unfortunately I will not be returning for Sunday brunch and would not recommend it either.
The service here was friendly but erratic; we would go for long stretches without seeing our server, which made me wonder if they were short-staffed. The food was good but some of the portions were very small. They do have options for bottomless drinks and/or food, so I get the gist that this place makes most of its business from the brunch crowd who like to eat and drink with reckless abandon. We weren't hungry enough for that, but if I were taking friends out for a big brunch I might consider it.
Booked this place for ore concert dinner as it was right next to Black Cat. Didn’t go with any expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ate was delish, cocktails were great. We got there as happy hour was ending and got a few drinks on happy hour special menu. HH menu was pretty good, worth getting there a little early for. Would def go here again
GREAT MUSIC FUN HAPPY HOUR
Unlimited brunch is definitely worth it! Everything we had was amazing. Highly recommend the Korean fried chicken & miso bacon.
Brunch menu felt a little thin in terms of options for food but otherwise outstanding experience.
Great spot for brunch. $25 per person unlimited food without alcohol, $39 with. We loved the churros, plantains, and the kimchi fried rice bowl. Good for groups of all sizes as the restaurant is large.
Food was delicious, but the unlimited tapas deal is only worth it if you are absolutely starving or in the mood to eat a lot. Definitely check out the upstairs rooftop!
Food was good except the coconut shrimp sushi didn’t appear to have any coconut and very little pineapple as advertised. Waiter was a bit of a space cadet.
Food and drinks were fantastic, as usual. My only negative-ish comment is regarding the manager or hostess, who came by our table, asked how our meal was (to which we replied “wonderful”), and then felt compelled to tell us that customers were complaining about that very same dish earlier in the night. She walked away, and we all didn’t feel terribly confident in our raw fish after that chat...
Went for the bottomless brunch & unlimited plates. Been here before and this time did not disappoint! Food was delicious and most of all, our server was awesome. Shout out to London for taking good care of our small birthday gathering.
We went to Masa 14 for my birthday brunch and it couldn’t have been any better! We were a group of 8 and the service was impeccable. Our server Dora was the best and took awesome care of us. The selection for the all you can eat brunch was amazing and the drinks were constantly flowing. Thanks so much for a great time!
It’s unfortunate that incompetent workers can make a perfectly good experience frustrating and upsetting. We enjoyed a nice brunch (bottomless brunch was good) until the staff who delivered food from the kitchen began delivering items to the wrong tables. Twice I witnessed our desert being delivered to the table next to ours, causing surprise on the patrons at that table. We also never received 2 dishes we ordered twice, although I’m sure they were given to someone else. Finally, had to get up and involve the manager to get our desert and get out. Server was very polite and the food was excellent, but the lack of organization was horrible and the owner of this resturaunt is losing profits because of either untrained or unqualified staff. I won’t be back or offering referrals.
First time going to Mass 14. Sunday brunch with friends and family . Our server Dora was amazing ! She was super helpful and had a great attitude the entire time . Laughed and joked around with us, she fit right in. Plates were small so had us questioning if we were going to get full but we sure did. I loved the chilaquiles , yuca and carrot cake. The food came out pretty fast . We were a big party and placed multiple plates at once. Our glasses were constantly getting filled. You really get your money’s worth here! Great first time expierience I will def be back for brunch. Thanks to all at Mass 14!
Lots of food selection in the form of tapas. Would recommend their chicken satay and flatbreads. Sushi was a bit different, more like fried rice with sauce. Upstairs roof area has a cool atmosphere and this place becomes vibrant on late evenings during the weekend, with dance music and lights.
I’m upgrading my last review. I went for dinner this time and the service from start to finish was wonderful. The food was delicious. My only complaint is that the music is very loud making it difficult to have a conversation.
This was the second time I dined here and it was still good.
