Bethlehem was our waitress! She was extraordinary. The chef, the food, everything was wonderful.
Definitely will return to MASA 14. Exceptional service and amazing brunch.
Dirty glasses, dirty dishes, not attentive to the tables at all. It wasn’t even busy. Food was slow and wrong dishes were brought consistently
Though the food was good, the tapas were very small for the price points. The service, though well intended, was much too slow and uneven.
Good service! pretty restaurant and not great food. I have been several times over the years and it is clearly going downhill.
Excellent Brunch Unlimited Tapas/Drinks Selection! Took my friends who were visiting from out of town and we had a blast for brunch. Our waitress kept our drinks full and our food quickly. My new favorite place! We also came back during late night happy hour and had an amazing time! 100% Recommend if you are looking for a great rooftop, brunch, or late night hangout place!
This was my second time at Masa 14 after having a great experience the first time, however this time was night and day different. The service was terrible! There were 3 of us, and we all ordered the unlimited tapas and drinks. We received the first drink 20 minutes after ordering and waited another hour before the server even came back to our table. The food was also slow to arrive, but I will give compliments to the chef on the chipotle salmon sushi roll - incredible! As soon as the clock hit 10PM it basically turns into a night club. They turned the music up so loud that it was hard to hear anyone across the table.
Shawn was awesome and the food was great!
It’s a wonder this place stays in business — on each occasion I’ve been, the service has been a very poor experience, and the food is simply not good enough to make up for it. The waitstaff don’t seem to know the table numbers, so orders are sent out haphazardly and often to the wrong table (we watched this happen at other tables numerous times). We waited a very long time for our food, and even our fountain drinks. My fiancée ordered an iced tea that never came, and the waiter’s response when we brought this to his attention 20 minutes later was, “We ran out, I just forgot to tell you.” The place is loud and wants to give off a certain lounge vibe, but instead it leaves the impression that they don’t care much for your business or value your time. U Street is a cluster these days, but you can still do much better than Masa 14.
This place was awesome the food was amazing. Nothing we tried didn’t impress us. Our favorite was the miso bacon and the Kim chi fried rice. ! Also try the blood orange mimosa ! Will be back again. Our waitress also came by at perfect intervals for reordering food and refilling drinks so you can get your monies worth during the time limit of unlimited brunch.
I love Masa 14. We came here for my friends bachelorette party and were able to sit on the rooftop. It was a beautiful day and everything was delicious. At brunch they walk around with pitchers of mimosas to keep your glass full throughout the brunch. Would go back over and over again!! I was sad to see they no longer had the kimchi eggs benedict but everything was still very good.
Extremely disappointed! It's been more than a year since I've dined here, though I live just a few blocks from Maza. The delicious cocktails & sushi style items that I was previously fond of were very sub-par. Tuna Tataki seemed 'old' and drowning in sauce; other dishes like average bar-food fare. Mojito & Margarita's no longer freshly crafted - but thrown together with industrial style mixes. The main dining area was sparsely populated and the music was blasting. So sad to see this once great neighborhood restaurant slide into oblivion.
One of the worst meals I have ever had in my 40-years living in DC and my 29-years living in Logan Circle.
Fun, flavorful, tasty food and excellent service by Betty and her colleagues.
I was extremely disappointed by the quality of the food served at this restaurant. As someone who tried most of Chef Sandoval's restaurants, this was the worst experience so far. Me and a friend opted for the unlimited brunch, the cocktails were okay. The food was cold, tasteless, and stale. Presentation, service, and ambiance were great but it was just bad food. For $40, it was not worthy at all. I would skip this place by all means!
We had such a blast and great time for a 12 person brunch! The waitresses were really nice but we didn't get excellent service ....no silverware on the table, no water ready to go, food came before drinks. We had a long wait for silverware and napkins which arrived week after the food arrived. It's almost as if they did not have experience serving a large group. We had to physically help the waitresses... staff were spilling drinks, and we had to be highly accommodating to the staff. We had a great time because we had a great attitude and great company but the restaurant itself needs to improve their service and needs to be prepared for serving larger groups.
The waiter was obviously high. Poor service. The food was cold. Went for a brunch date. It wasn't until the end of the time there did the waiter start paying attention to us.
Masa was the best brunch in Washington, D.C. years ago, but has completely changed since then.
Food was amazing for brunch! Service at the bar was even better!!!! Shontice was our bartender and she had such outstanding customer service. Will be back!!
Went there for a birthday and was interested via the food pics shown on there page. Was immediately hit by the ambiance and enjoyable, youthful atmosphere: you could see this place as a fun spot for a group of friends or large party. Music was loud and there was a ton of people there. Food was good but wait staff failed to explain how the topas situation “really” worked. If you get something and you like it, they bring out multiples of the same dish while you wait for the next thing to finish cooking. After two bowls of steak fried rice I started to get the feeling I was never going to see the steak tostada we ordered.
Honestly, the food was inconsistent, albeit different regardless of how many of the same dish we received. We def enjoyed ourselves but for the price, I’d work on consistent dishes to enhance the overall experience.
The food was terrible- not as described on menu. Only come here if you are already drunk or planning to become very drunk while you are at the restaurant. It makes sense, this food would only taste good to a very intoxicated individual. Pass on this place.
Very slow service. Took over 15 minutes to get served.
Always so much fun here, great food and service, keeps me coming back
Food was cold, and service was slow.
Waitress was wonderful, food was excellent, was only there for the weekend but would have come back Sunday had my train not left early.
They offer unlimited drinks but they take so long to get that it’s not worth it. The bar was no busy so I’m not sure what the hold up was. In the 3 hours we were there they managed to get us 3 drinks each and that was after multiple requests and trips to the bar to inquire on the wait.
food was incredible! portions where a good size but the drinks were inconsistent. our last drink had absolutely zero alcohol in it and the manager didn’t seem to care or be surprised. it took about 15 minutes to get our drink every time we ordered one.
It was disappointing because there weren’t that many options (especially meat options) on the unlimited brunch menus. I ended up getting my value from the drinks, which admittedly were great - except the waitress kept saying that she can’t give us drinks if we’re getting drunk. So limited food and limited drinks ... the crazy part is that we had two empty plates stacked at the end of the table, ordered fresh food and the server place the new food on top of the dirty plate WTF. And on top of it, one of the dishes came out with hair in it. Overall ... eh... 2.5 maybe 3 stars.
Everything was just okay. The idea of their brunch menu is really awesome, but their menu needs to be updated. They tried to complicate their food and put too much emphasis on the "fusion" aspect of it. I had high hopes for a great brunch but was ultimately disappointed. Great drink selection, though!
Fun girls dinner! My sister and a couple friends and I went to Masa 14 for dinner on a Saturday night. My sister has multiple food allergies and contacted the restaurant beforehand to let them know. The Manager was extremely accommodating and brought out multiple plates that were made special for her. It was amazing! It made the evening much more enjoyable. The food was awesome and great for groups. They have an awesome drink and food deal!
Loved all the food and Dark & Stormy drinks. I had a great time. I can’t wait to come back.
Creativity is the hallmark of Masa 14. Salads, main courses, and dessert all featured unusual combinations of foods beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the tuna tacos, beef tostadas and the salmon sushi. I do wish that dishes like the apple pockets were offered for four, not three, to make for easier sharing.
Great food and experience, though it seems that the menu was recently changed and the kitchen was still acclimating to the new items as some of the items we ordered were missing pieces (e.g., avocado left off the avocado toast, no bacon for one of the other plates). However, the server was very helpful in bringing the left out foods, where possible.
Really loved our waitress and the new menu is solid.
Food is good, but there was no more tuna and salmon at 9pm. We got a free tapas as a compensation.
It’s a good place for dinner and drinks are good.
The menu was changed last Wed according to the waiter. Service was good but new menu lacks flavor and quality. suggest they go back to old menu
Lots of delicious options I just wanted water to save food for food!
Great food and a fun place. Go hungry!
We had the absolute best experience at brunch! Food and service were on point. It’s hard to beat the $39 bottomless food and drink price. Our server was absolutely fantastic! We can’t wait to come back!
The food was great (we tried two of the sushi rolls as well as the fried okra and a fried rice dish); or server was even better (she was amazingly attentive and helpful). We would definitely return!!
