Great food and superb service in a stunning atmosphere. Will be back!
We chose MAS for a birthday dinner - we were greeted & seated by a friendly face!
The menu is diverse and can please every palate from meat eater to vegan! Not only were our meals delicious but presented with an artsy flair!
We loved everything about this restaurant and enjoyed the ambience of the entire location at a hotel
We take away great memories of a delightful experience in Albuquerque - and will definitely return next time in town!
Our experience was disappointing, especially when compared to a previous visit -- March 2 when we hosted a wedding dinner. This most recent visit: 1) the noise level from the music in the hotel lobby was disturbing and distracting -- if the music is lousy, then just turn up the volume 2) we arrived at 6:15 pm and finally received our entrees at about 7:10 pm 3) one of the tapas -- the Brussels sprouts -- were slathered with the sauce -- nothing subtle there 4) I ordered sea bass which was good but at $38 a plate I thought the portion could have been larger, especially when it is accompanied by very little. 5) my two dining companions ordered the paella -- far too tomatoey and the chicken had the consistency of an automobile tire. $115 before tip -- I'm sorry not worth it.
Very nice, however, very loud live music from hotel lobby could be heard in restaurant.
We were looking forward to this meal Food was great Service could have been better We know next time to have the wine delivered before the meal
Had a nice tapas style meal food was quite good. A bit pricy but we enjoyed ourselves. Good size portions.
Wine a bit expensive but good quality choices.
Beautiful restaurant, but some patrons in adjacent bar were too loud. Food was terrific. Good service. Nice wine selections.
I'm not saying it was bad. I'm just not saying it was good. First, I understand even red wine should be stored at 52° F to be preserved. But it shouldn't be served at that temp. Bartender was overwhelmed, not her fault, but it took 10-15min to get an improperly served glass of grenache. They also lack in Spanish wine selection. The food was so-so. I had truffle mushroom bruschetta, friend oysters, and grilled octopus. The bread was the highlight of the meal. Oysters and octopus were quite bland for tapas style eating. The octopus was particularly disappointing. Grilled with no seasoning on top of a plain pancake with a tiny amount of strawberry something or other sauce. I'm a huge fan of Spanish tapas style and this was the worst I've had in the US. Suggest sticking to something with green chili in it while in ABQ.
Server went out of her way to be helpful and the food was delicious
Excellent TAPAS. Looking forward to visiting again.
An interesting menu, but a little hard to decipher what the dish would look like. A complete wine list, but the first two bottles we ordered with recommendations from our server weren't available. The suggested pre-dinner cocktail took almost 20 minutes, because the bartender had to find one of the ingredients, and then was served at almost room temperature, even though it was shaken with ice. Food quality was good and servings large (for small plate tapas). I would try it again for a snack and a drink, probably not dinner.
Very good presentation of the food, and the food was top class.
Great manager and staff was friendly as was the chef.
Great job, will return
This is one of our all-time favorite restaurants in Albuquerque. You can dress up or casual and you can go with friends or just for date night. We've brought our kids for early dinner and the staff is always very accommodating. Food is delicious, if expensive. Service can be a teensy bit slow when staff are overwhelmed, but nothing that prevents us from returning. Love this place. GREAT drinks.
Food was great. Nice tapas portions and relaxed dinning
This is a wonderful place. My wife and I have eaten there a few times and we are hardly ever disappointed.
During this visit we were a little disappointed with the paella; it was a tad bit too salty. Other than that, the other dishes that we ordered were excellent.
The tapas we ordered were salty or looked like they had been exposed for too long. Not very appetizing. Service was very good. Atmosphere is pleasant. We would not risk ordering a full meal - the tapas suggest they too are not very good. OK for a glass of wine, but we won't eat here again.
Made for a great birthday dinner! Enjoyed our meals during restaurant week very much!
Went here as part of New Mexico Restaurant Week. Everything was delicious. My husband was also in heaven as there were multiple cocktails with chile or jalepeno in them.
Upon entering the lobby, there was a distinct unknown aroma but one which I found annoying to my senses. this prevailed in the dining room also. Scented candles/sprays/diffusers so not belong in public places due the myriad of aromas which can disturb people's senses. This totally wrecked the ambiance of an attractive dining space.
The octopus was very delayed in delivery, which based on the fact that it was charred black, was probably the kitchen's error not the server. Other food was not particularly warm.
Visited when "passing through" town based on reviews. Would not pass that way again.
Great service and wonderful food. Save room for dessert!
Was able to quickly secure a reservation, and find the reserved table upon arrival. Recommend the Yellowfin Tuna and Octopus based tapas. Wait staff was considerate of the circumstances of our dining experience (date night).
Really great food. Unfortunately our waiter was the only one for the whole restaurant so we had a bit of a wait while being served.
The food was fabulous, especially the bacon wrapped dates, the brussel sprouts, and the scallops.
The lunch was good, nothing great. We would return here if we were in the neighborhood.
A solid meal. The cheese plate was average, good but no wow factor. The paella was good, but slightly on the dry side. The diver scallops were AMAZING and wished I had just ordered more. I will be back to try again.
The only concern is that the acoustics were not great - it was difficult to hear guests across the table. The food and service was excellent.
Loved the fresh tapas, good vino and beer. My husband had the rib eye...so tender that you could cut with a butter knife! Highly recommend this place!!
Our server ignored us all the time. When it came to the charge , he said that the tip was included because it was a numerous party.(4kids , my wife and I). My little girls ordered fries. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday.
Paella was very salty. The manager was really kind as he deducted the paellas from my bill but the server didn't deserve a tricking penny. This is our last time in this restaurant.
The Valentine’s Day dinner was pretty bad, the white chocolate bisque was like eating a bowl of white chocolate and the short rib tasted like it was from a can! They should stick with their regular menu which is really good! Lesson learned not to go for special occasions!
Their regular tapas menu is usually pretty solid and that's usually what we would get but this time it was the prefix menu for Valentine's. The entrees were sub par. The fish was hard and my steak had a bitter burnt taste. The soup and salad were really good. Overall bit of a let down for me and my GF.
As always Michael Francis never fails to impress with his knowledge of the menu and his exquisite service!!!
I am not from ABQ unfortunately, but if I was I would definitely be a regular of his!!
Thank you again Michael!!
Third year in a row to eat at Mas during the week before Presidents Day as we make our way to Taos. Just don't go on Valentine's Day tho cuz it is a set menu and you can't enjoy all the small plates which are the best!!!
Received outstanding service from Michael! Thanks so much for a great dining experience!!
Service was fairly slow, which is understandable for a Sunday night. We had the bacon wrapped dates which were good but the sauce they gave was really liquify when we were expecting goat cheese.
Loved the decor and ambiance. Very chic and creative. Contemporary, yet with natural elements. I felt like I was in a special place. Have a drink in one of the casbahs before heading to the main restaurant. Service was friendly and attentive, just right. Cheese plate and olives were divine. We had issues with our other 2 plates, though. My husband had the fried oysters, and the breading was so thick, he could not eat them. A pricey fail. My scallops were cooked to perfection with a nice aioli, and would have been wonderful if not for WAY too much salt on them. I finished the dish, but again a disappointment.
This restaurant is an absolute must in Albuquerque. Their tapas are outstanding, they have a great wine list, and the service is impeccable. The hotel is historic and beautiful, and valet parking makes it very easy to ignore the meter parking downtown.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Good Options and staff offer reasonable options in menu
I lived in Spain and love tapas when done right. The menu here is traditional Spanish with a SW US twist. We tried eight of their tapas and most were excellent. The wild boar and fried quail were fantastic, and definitely our favotites. Pork belly, lamb chops, and elk tenderloin were excellent, and the patatas bravas were a great SW twist on the traditional. Prices are a little high, but but the quality made this a fair value in our opinion.
