The menu is very confusing and not friendly to the reader whatsoever.... I think someone need to re-examin, review and revamp most of it... many people said we will not go back to eat at all, we will just go there to have drinks in the open area/ band and bar area.
The wine list is superb. The tapas present an adventure of different flavors and textures. One small complaint - the "crispy" brussel sprouts were neither crisp nor fresh. Perhaps we should have said something at the time, but were reluctant to bring negativity to an otherwise very pleasant evening.
We’ve eaten at Mas Tapas several times before. The service and food did not live up to their previous levels. First of all we had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time before we could be seated. Because it was New Year’s Eve there was a fixed menu. We were served the first course on three separate occasions because they couldn’t get it right. The soup was never hot. The main course included a 2 ounce piece of Seabass. While this was well prepared it was the only thing satisfactorily for the whole meal. It was not enough. The desert, I’m afraid the chef needs to go back to pastry school, it was a dry piece of pumpkin bark with little flavor served with a lavender cream. All in all I would not go back here for a special occasion with a set menu.

Get-together with old friends meeting my new girlfriend for first time.
Choice was $80. Prix Fixe menu. We probably would have spent that much anyway.
My girlfriend didn't like any of the three entrees : Elk, Sea-bass, or green chile stuffed game hen. That was it. We were expecting the usual wonderful array of choices.
My second time, took the family when I was in town. The tapas were stellar, inventive, fresh, well plated. Couldn't pick a favorite as they were all incredible. G daughter had the steak it was divine and she finished it. The drinks were as good as the meal. Service was impeccable, with Mike. This will be the families favorite.
We’ve eaten here several times, and have noted how the menu has changed over time. Now it appears that there are fewer tapas than there used to be, but still many good options. The berry and arugula salad is my new favorite in New Mexico, and the mezze platter is always great. My husband loved the scallops. The service was outstanding, and we will be returning.
Very informative staff and very attentive to my food allergies in my profile... Nice ambience. Wine by the glass was a bit pricy at $16 per. Good selection of draft beers! Elegant decor but really needs a foot rail at the bar, I got somewhat uncomfortable after a while...
Tucked into the Hotel Andaluz, Mas offers choices of where to dine: A rooftop patio, a great dining room with a separate bar, casbahs, and two private dining rooms for a group. Chef Quinones offers an innovative menu with local and organic food. Tapas are meant for two people, so beware of ordering too much.
We had a delightful meal here. We had requested a quiet table and were give a nice table in the corner.
We ordered two of their specialty cocktails which were very good. My wife had wine with dinner - there is a long and varied wine list by the glass.
We shared some small plates and the paella. All of the small plates were excellent. The paella was good but nothing special. The dessert and espressos were top notch.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable. We appreciated our server suggesting that we may have ordered too many small plates and we might want to cut back on one (he was right).
My only quibble, and I see this often at tapas restaurants, was with the pacing of the dishes. We like to enjoy our dishes one at time. But here, they came grouped in batches of two or three. This makes it difficult to enjoy all of the dishes while they are still hot (or cold).
One of the most disappointing dinners I've had in the past year. The appetizers were fine and the service was relatively good. But I have almost never had any restaurant fail so completely creating an entrée that doesn't have an ingredient that I'm allergic to. I and my partner ordered the paella. I am allergic to onions. I told the waiter that I couldn't eat stock that had small amounts of onion but not whole chopped up onions. what the chef prepared was nothing more than a rice side dish. it was terrible. it had nothing in common with paella. it tasted like Rice-A-Roni. but it was $28. that pretty much does it for months tapas E Vino. in this case special orders do upset us. no high end restaurant should be in capable of preparing a good entrée without one ingredient.
The service was very poor ! We were seated at 6:45 pm and
did not leave until 9:45 pm. Everything seem to be in slow motion. The food is nothing special.
I have had tapas in many restaurants and I cannot recommend this restaurant. This was a disappointment since we were celebrating a birthday !
We had a table of eight and the service was horrible. We called to see if we could change the reservation were are told no we could not change to 6 from 6:30 as the restaurant was "completely book." We arrived at 6:10 and the restaurant was approximately 20% full. Not sure why the restaurant refused our refused to change the reservation.
Once we were seated, the service was perhaps the worst I have experienced. I have travelled a great deal for my job. We repeatedly had to ask for service. Staff were constantly walking by the table and ignoring us. One waiter refused to even help! The waiter with the pony tail was so arrogant and talked down to us when we asked for help. He was too busy (even though the restaurant was not full). Amazing to spend so much money on a dinner (over $1000) and be ignored. At one point, I told my wife perhaps I could take the orders and see if the cook would take the orders.
We have been there many times because the food is good. Interesting menu and food. We will NOT be back however. The service is horrible, the staff are arrogant, and completely unwilling to help.
Since our last visit about eight or nine months ago, this tapas restaurant has developed a considerably more "Americanized" menu. The special soup of the day, a thick mushroom soup, was the best item among those we ordered. It was a hearty soup that tasted strongly of mushrooms and would be a good offering on a late fall or winter menu. The Romaine salad was nothing more than ordinary. Various enhancements to the salad such as chicken are available for a surcharge. Overall, the lunch was pleasant enough and nicely plated, but remained rather unremarkable cuisine at a higher than average price for Albuquerque.
