Mas Mexicali Cantina - West Chester Ratings and Reviews
I felt my overall experience at Mas Mexicali Cantina was adequate. The food was excellent and drinks were good as well. The only thing that was a slight issue was the service was slower than I expected. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fun place to go on the weekend!
I see the potential with this restaurant. We loved sitting on the rooftop bar, it was a beautiful sunny evening. I was looking forward to more "fun" & ambiance from a Mexican restaurant. They weren't even playing Latin music. It was a weird mix of oldies. It seemed like we got a brand new waitress, which is fine, but she didn't know about the menu at all. We ordered an appetizer, that along with the chips & salsa were just ok. Salsa was a bit watery and bland. Drinks were very watered down. Seemed as if 1 oz. of tequila was used for the entire pitcher of margaritas...along with a ton of ice. I'd definitely go back for drinks on the rooftop bar, but walk somewhere else for food.
This was our first time dining out in West Chester and Mas Mexicali did not disappoint! Our server Eleni was personable and prompt, the food came out much faster than we had anticipated- and it was absolutely delicious! We were on the rooftop at a table and the atmosphere was very cozy. We highly recommend this restaurant for the amazing food and fun ambiance. We will definitely be going back soon! New favorite spot!
It was a beautiful day so we had the opportunity to enjoy the rooftop dining option. Overall the service was very good. At the beginning when we got our guac and salsa and chips we weren't given small plates and had to ask for them. We were a group of 4 Entree portions were nice size and the mole sauce on the shredded chicken enchiladas was very good. I would recommend is restaurant but definitely can't say that it was the best Mexican food I've ever had.
We had a nice evening on the roof. The food was routine Mex American but pretty good, and the service was prompt and friendly, if a little bit or miss (Did anyone bring you sour cream? No. Ok, I won't charge you for it) Drinks are served in little disposable plastic cups - tacky and overpriced for the size. I get a no glass on the deck policy but Dixie cups are more appropriate for the heavy drinking 20 somethings on the other floors. Overall this is a drinking place, not a dining place.
The drinks are phenomenal ! The food and service is another story... service is slow food was sub par! IT took 20 minutes to get any drinks then another 15 minutes to get water (they ran out of clean glasses) Not worth the money. Go to Taco Bell or chipotles instead. Better food and service.
I always enjoy Mas Cantina - vibrant and fun - awesome veggie options - and always great service. If you get a chance to sit on the rooftop section - it is very nice. There is a full bar upstairs which can get very busy as the night goes on. Great food always. The drinks are nice - but can be a little weak on the alcohol - just fyi
still a fun place
On Sunday, May 29, 2017, my husband, friend and her boyfriend dined at Mas. We wanted to eat outside, but due to the weather, we were only able to have drinks and chips and guacamole outside. At least we got that. Then we moved inside and it felt like we were at a different restaurant. I ordered 2 tacos (blackened mahi mahi and short ribs) with rice and beans and unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the mahi mahi. It was very fishy, and my friend's boyfriend agreed with me on that. Also, the portions weren't as large as I had expected so I left hungry. The service was great by both servers (the one on the rooftop and the one in the restaurant). We'll probably be back but I know not to order the mahi mahi. The short rib taco was very tasty and my husband said the pork one with pineapple was his favorite.
Went for mothers day dinner with a late reservation, so I guess I understand why there was availability. The food was OK but doesn't compare to some much more authentic Mexican places in the area - and even many of the lower / middle tier ones.
I had ordered a variety of 4 Tacos. 1/2 were good, but I had ordered ground beef / cheese for one of them and they mistakenly brought shredded beef instead. Usually I love shredded beef, but this was really gamy tasting and had no seasoning. I tasted it, and then asked the waitress to bring me the ground beef one I ordered instead. She came back with the menu and said they didn't have ground beef tacos. She said she was new and it was her error, so I ordered another steak taco - since that one was one of the 2 that I thought were good. When I received it, it tasted nothing like the steak taco that I just had 10 minutes before (different sauce).
As I was walking out, I saw another customer of hers eating the ground beef tacos that I was hoping for that looked a lot better. When the waitress mentioned she was new, I didn't think she meant new to this planet and didn't realize the "cheeseburger" tacos she served to others (as MAS called them) were made from ground beef.
Mistakes happen, but she indicated that the error was on her - and she was bringing the 2nd steak taco out for free. When we got the bill, the steak taco wasn't on it, but the beef one I ordered and never got was. Just paid and left, but it was a disappointing trip into WC.
