Maruzzella Ratings and Reviews
We've eaten there numerous times and it has always been good. This time it was just plain terrible. The salads were good. But the pastas-how does an Italian restaurant screw up pasta? We had recommended this restaurant to friends from Italy. We were so embarrassed. It will be a long time till I try it again. If ever.
I really like this restaurant - it's close to my apartment, has good food and a nice atmosphere (not so noisy). It just seems that there is never enough help. We have to ask to have our water glasses refilled and practically beg for the check. Hire another waiter!
Very good Italian restaurant, neighborhood gem. A variety of pasta and meat and seafood dishes. The homemade pasta is delicious and highly recommended! Owner takes service seriously and greets all diners. We have been going here for a few years; the food is consistent and they happily accommodate special orders.
High quality, approachable menu with lots of appealing options. Caring service in a casual yet comfortable space. Our go to Italian on the upper east side. Particularly love their eggplant rollatine, salads, pesto pasta, pasta with mushroom sauce, pasta with eggplant and ricotta, veal Marsala, and fish
Maruzzella is a definite gem in the upper east side. The food was well presented and the home made pasta was excellent. Great ambiance and no pressure to end the experience. Nick the owner chatted with us and definitely added to the evening. We will definitely be back on our next NYC visit! Kudos to Nick and all the staff at this local venue!
This is a local Italian that is an absolute neighborhood staple for so many people. I have been coming here for 10 years at least 1-2 a month... The food is always solid and this most recent visit... the Osso Buco over saffron rissotto was the best meal I have ever had there... Amazing. great with children as well...
This is my "go to" neighborhood restaurant. The servers are delightful and the food is always good. No fuss dining and it's always on the quiet side even when it's full. My go to choices are their clams al la vongole, their grilled salmon and one of the special salads. Good value, good food and good service. The trifecta.
My 38th annual February business trip to NY has afforded me the opportunity to dine in some fine restaurants, but starting last year as my first and now second visit to Maruzzella it is my favorite! Nicolai greeted and remembered me and my friend from last year. Alex was our server and did a most excellent job. We shared a Prosciutto salad, very delicious and the chef created a tasty lamb chop and risotto main course with a simple but perfect combination of linguini, garlic oil and sun dried tomatoes . I'll admit it was a quiet evening for the restaurant we never felt rushed the food was excellent and we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. Highly recommend to anyone dinning in this neighborhood at 1st and 75-79. I'd give this restaurant 6 stars on a scale of 5
Great meal, not rushed, friendly staff. This is a great Italian restaurant and place to bring a family. I happen to love home made pasta and there are a few on the menu. The seafood is always delicious. Great neighborhood restaurant to stop in and have a good meal for a reasonable price even though its "fine dining".
I ate at Maruzzella on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. As I tend to eat early (6pm), the restaurant wasn't crowded when I first arrived. On Christmas Eve a lot of people arrived at the time I was about to leave. It took a bit to get my check but not too long a wait. No problem New Year's Eve; it wasn't too crowded when I left and people weren't all coming in at the same time.
As usual, the food was great. Had the asparagus salad both days, fish on Christmas Eve and lamb chops on New Year's Eve. Food was excellent both times; the fish was cooked perfectly and the lamb chops were tender and tasty. It can get a bit noisy, but you can still hear the people at your table, which I consider acceptable. All in all, you can't go wrong eating here.
This is my go to place for many occasions.
