Martorano's Italian/American Kitchen at the Hard Rock - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
I have been to Martorano's on two other occasions and I really remembered the food being better. It was fine this time, but it was not great. And, for $25, the spaghetti was nothing special. Nor was the Shrimp Scampi bread appetizer (containing one large shrimp) for $24. I don't have any problem paying for food as long as it is worth it. I did not feel that I received that at Martorano's this time. The staff was very nice and our server was fine. But the overall experience was disappointing.
This restaurant is a few weeks from closing for "renovation " and the staff clearly cannot care less about what is happening there at the moment. From.. the wrong wine order to some random who knows what showing up in a dish to the waiter disappearing. A simple task like a birthday dessert surprise proved to be too much. Very disappointing for a place that is in several well known casinos. The best thing on the table was the bread and the brownie from the dessert sundae. Way better choices out there for both your time and money.
Horrific place to eat. It is very dark. It has very loud music blasting. Apparently they have two menus in use, #1 the regular menu and #2 "the show menu". Our dinner night was the very limited "show menu", disgraceful the laziness. The prices are astronomical, get a part time job to eat here. I called the restaurant to make a reservation, guess what the rude girl that answered said? "We don't take reservations, you have to go make it on Open Table". Really, so calling the place direct can't take a minute to make my reservation??? I have to be inconvenienced and go online...again so lazy. The hostesses are horrible...could they find any less friendly people to work the front of the house? I order the pasta, hard as a rock and don't ask for them to cook it to real AL DENTE...you'd be breaking the eggplant lover's balls!
I think the food at Martaranos is delicious but so is the food at a ton of other Italian places around town for about half the price. Menu boring and limited - and overpriced. And we don't look for "bargain restaurants." Service is a shady cross between extremely fast and efficient and "let's get them the hell out so we can get the next people in." Yo cuz...unless you know the Martaranos "cache" and back story, or maybe you are from Philly or Jersey (which I am) you will probably leave feeling ripped off.
We arrived 15 minutes early for our 6:30 reservation (we were going to see an 8:00 live performance). We were greeted by an unsophisticated hostess staff. Not very welcoming and not very polished. Whatever, our table was ready, and we were seated right away. Greeted at the table by guy we thought was our waiter. He mumbled a great deal. We were able to discern that he was asking us: bottled or tap water? Next, another guy comes and takes our drink order and apologizes for our waiter: "be with us shortly." Finally, our waiter comes! We tell him we're going to the show. After showing us pics of specials off a tablet (can't the staff be trained to eloquently rehearse 3-4 items??) he warns us that we should probably order asap, as the restaurant is going to get very busy soon. We tell him we want to enjoy our drinks for 5 minutes, which we did. We ordered at 6:30ish. We each ordered a pasta dish and a salad to share. The salad came right away, and was tasty. We finished in about 10 minutes. At 7:15, we were still waiting for our entrees, and my husband asked what was taking so long, as we noticed other diners around us, who came in afterwards, had been served their meals. Waiter tells us, um maybe we should order appetizers because the food is delayed. Impatient, I go to ladies room. Ick!!! There were 4 women waiting in front of me. I think there were 4 stalls. One woman came out of a stall telling me the toilet didn't flush. This was VERY obvious. I also overheard a couple other women lamenting the same issue with 2 other stalls. VERY unappetizing!!!! Back at the table, no food, but my husband had asked for a manager. Manager comes over, and tells us that what we ordered (pasta) takes longer than other items. He never expressed apologies for our woes. Says we need to understand that our entrees take extra time. We say No Way. He says Why Don't You Leave? We say, Good Idea. Buh bye.
Restaurant was so dark we couldn't read the menus. We arrived 2 hours before our show at the Hard Rock across the street and because the service was so slow we never got our main course. The manager on duty was pitiful.
What was served, salad, was mediocre at best and way overpriced.
This was the worst dining experience I've ever had.
My husband and I had dinner here before a show at the Hard Rock Live. Everything was incredible from the moment we arrived. Our waiter and his assistant (Yes, our waiter had an assistant) were on top of the service at all times. My husband and I shared an appetizer which the assistant split for us at the table on our own plates. Then for our main meals, my husband had the lasagna which was delicious and I had the fish special (snapper) which was very good, but a little pricey for fish. ($58) So beware when ordering the specials!
We went for Valentines Day and had a 7:30 reservation. Checked in at 7 and were seated right away. Great sign. Waiter was at the table within minutes. They use a IPad to show the specials. Very good visual. Waiter was knowlegible on the menu. Another good sign. Ordered a bottle of champaigne which he was great about making sure our glasses were always full. Ordered the Sea Bass and Rigatoni. Both were outstanding. Timing with service was excellent. Really nothing went wrong. With a busy night for restaurants you can tell the place is well run since everyone around us seemed to be having the same great experience as us. I'm also a former restaurant owner so, I can be a bit critical with little things. Keep that in mind when you read this. I would recommend this place to anyone. Excellent.
The food is spectacular but expensive . The ambiance was nice but the music gets super loud after 9. The big disappointment was that we went for my mothers bday. They didn't do anything to make her special. No Birthday song do dessert with candle nothing. All these years I have never gone anywhere and they don't acknowledge a Birthday. Was sad for my mom.
Steve Matarano has a chain of restaurants, most all in a Casino (Vegas, AC, etc) like this one. My wife and I have been to a handful of them and they are all a little different. The one at the Hardrock in Hollywood is by far our favor. Glad to see that the bread basket is back! While it's a little pricy, come hungry cause the portions are large.
We have eaten at this restaurant several times in the past and have been very happy. This last time however, the food was disappointing. We specifically come for their salad and meatball combo. The meatballs were hard and tasteless. If not for the sauce and the fact that I was going to a show, I would have sent them back and ordered something else. The salad was not only bland, but it consisted of nothing more than lettuce and a few tomatoes.
All in all, it was a very poor meal, and needless to say, not cheap. The service on the other hand, was good. There are many restaurants at the venue we were at and we will not eat at Martorano's again.
First the good - the waiters were fantastic, very polite, very attentive. Best bite of the night was the eggplant antipasto - delicious! But, the dressing for the Caesar salad tasted like straight garlic, and the limp, soggy lettuce was literally drowning in it, accompanied by rocks disguised as croutons - completely inedible! Then we were served absolutely the WORST linguine with white clam sauce we have ever eaten in our lives! In fact, it was so bad, we didn't eat it. Love the ambiance, but will not be back!
We have dined at this restaurant before and many times at the original location on Oakland Park Blvd. We had a 6pm reservation as we were going to a show at the Hardrock. Attention by the waiter was good. The table the hostess tried to seat us at, a 4 top table in the lower dining room, right by the waitress station and back door was not acceptable and we instead sat at a table for two against the wall. the next 3 or 4 parties that the hostess tried to seat there also rejected the table. Why make a reservation for the least desirable table in the restaurant?
At the table against the wall, there was a speaker directly overhead that prevented any type of conversation. The waiter was kind enough to move us a table over so are heads wouldn't be pounding before going to the show. I understand that Cafe Martorano is a happening place, but it was really loud for 6pm. Actually the volume of the music went up shortly after we sat down. I know that the place really starts hopping later on, but for the dinner crowd?
The food was ok, but not great. The entrees definitely tasted like (except for the amazing sauces) they were mass produced. The veal did not seem to be pounded thin, but rather sliced thin like coldcuts on a sandwhich. The chicken cutlet was not much better. The three dishes all came out together, after a fairly long time, probably 40-45 minutes after ordering.
The duck ragout special was tasty, but it seemed like it had been sitting for a little while. There was not that much duck in the dish to warrant the price charged and there were bone pieces in the sauce.
Overall very disappointed given the prices and expectations.
Four of us had a very good meal at Matarano's. . The ladies had chicken parm which they thoroughly enjoyed. Portion size was excellent. I had short ribs and pasta which was very good and more than enough. My friend had the lasagna which was huge and he could only manage to eat about half the portion. The bread and seasoned olive oil was excellent. Needless to say we didn't have room for dessert. Prices were reasonable, service was very good, and the surroundings were quite pleasant. I would recommend to anyone.
We decided to go to Martorano's for our NYE/ Ten year wedding anniversary. We were fortunate enough to get a reservation via Open Table last minute. The food was phenomenal and layered in flavors.
Our Antipasti was the Eggplant stacked and Shrimp Scampi Bread. They were the perfect size. Im a huge fan of Eggplant and have never experienced it this way. The lightly breaded Eggplant layered with mozzarella and cool crisp tomato drizzled in a vinegarette sauce.
My husband didn't say much about his Scampi bread, but didn't leave anything on the plate. If he's not complaining, I can confidently say he enjoyed it.
Our meal choice was Veal Parmigian and a NY strip steak.
My Veal was tender and had a perfect mixture of "gravy" and more of their flavourful mozzarella. The steak was seasoned to perfection and layered with beautiful peppers. They will not cook it well done, and any true steak lover knows why. All that work to get the seasoning right and the meat perfectly tender. They will not served a dried out steak! You don't ask a chef to dry out your steak or for steak sauce. It's insulting to their craft.....
We finished our meal with dessert.
I chose a canolli drizzled in chocolate with chocolate chips encrusted on each end. My husband had a brownie with vanilla bean ice cream.
The portions were perfect. It allowed you to enjoy a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine. While it was pricey, I didn't feel like I over paid for a meal on NYE.
Our waiter was very attentive and personable. He made sure our glasses were never empty and took our empty plates away immediately.
We enjoyed hearing about his engagement and birth of his beautiful baby boy.
We would not hesitate to eat here again.
The environment was lively, music was tasteful and covered many genres. They even had the movie Casino playing in the background.
Definitely a 5 star restaurant all around.
Was not told there was a special menu for NYE! Restaurant reservation was for 6p and doors did not open till 6:30p. People lined outside angry. Was Given menu with no prices! 5 of us no drinks just water bill was $425.00. They added a 20% tip it was 3 teens and my wife and I! Food was good but the bill destroyed our budget for the month! We were rushed out in an hour! Shocked, broke, and very upset. Very misleading do not recommend at all! Not even a reason for us to have to wait for doors to open! No price on menu????
