Food is very good but doesn’t warrant the prices charged...go during restaurant week to sample the food and you won’t be disappointed...wine list is equally overpriced for wines both by the glass and the bottle. Wanted to try this place and am glad I did...ambiance seems to be trying to find a middle ground between mafia cool and disco retro as movies were playing with disco music in background...music was good (was early disco not techno or overly dance) and you could carry on a conversation...
The real deal! Authentic Italian comfort food in a pleasant environment. The Sunday Gravy had the aroma and taste of home-cooked dinner I remember growing up Italian. The meatball was just like Mamma made. The generous portion of Bronzino was perfectly cooked and seasoned. A winner all around.
Walking into the restaurant, reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen, black & white tile floor. Meatball & salad was excellent as well as the Bronzino. Service was very attentive.
Would go back for dinner & recommend to family & friends.
Best restaurant in AC! Worth every penny.
We told them it was but no one acknowledged it
Martorano's is a very good Italian restaurant with speciality dishes including an incredible meatball salad. Late night dancing and entertainment make it a great place to have fun and drinks.
Food good , booth comfy , but they did in fact charge us for a greygoose in a mixed drink when ask for a baybreeze and a Bacardi when ask for rum and coke thus making are bill larger.
While our food was excellent, our waiter could have been more knowledgable about the food being served. I had never had Bronzino before and asked him what type of fish it compared to in taste. All he kept saying was that it was a white fish. I had to ask three times, before offering my own comparison asking if it was similar in taste to flounder. He did not know ! Your staff should be able to explain the food a little better than that.
Was looking forward to visiting again during restaurant week, but disappointed. Eggplant tower was cold and not prepared as prior visit.
Had veal parm prior but not on menu. Settled for chicken parm. Nothing special, chicken thick. Reason of restaurant week is to showcase your food, And based on that I would not return
I recently enjoyed dinner At Martorano’s. I was pleased to find out it was Restaurant week in Atlantic City. We order 2 meatball salads, rigatoni with Sunday sauce & pork, chicken parmigiana. It was all delicious especially the meatball salad. Dessert was mini cannoli. Not the traditional filling but very good. I would definitely return.
Great food during the restaurant week in AC. Hugh wine selection. Crowded at the time we were there, fast service and relative low noise level.
Such a great find for a restaurant in Atlantic City! We loved the atmosphere. It was Restaurant week in A.C. so we even were given a reduced price. Food was so good we ate there 2 nights in a row. The Lobster was outstanding. Just one small gripe, what restaurant serves Chicken Parm without Pasta???
We will go back very soon.
Having had many special occasions at the original Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale with my life long girlfriends we decided to celebrate a special birthday and booked a weekend getaway at Harrah's simply to eat and drink at this restaurant. Our room in the hotel was located on the other side of the compound so I called the hostess to let them know we would be a few minutes late, and was assured it would not be a problem. We arrived 10 minutes past our reserved time and wound up waiting 25 minutes for our table. The bartender Mike was a joy and made great drinks. Once we were finally seated our order was taken and our waiter literally disappeared. We ordered appetizers and entrees. For entrees we ordered 3 of the lobster specials, and the fish special, the most expensive items on the menu. The lobster specials were delivered to the table hot, we were waiting 10 minutes when I finally grabbed another server to ask about the fish special to complete our tables entrees. I was told all items were made to order, well of course but all four seafood entrees were ordered at the same time. It was another 5 minutes before the fish special was brought to the table (all by another server). Upon finishing our entrees we were now the only patrons on this far side of the restaurant so we wound up waiting another 25 minutes before I was able to wave down yet another server to clear our plates and get us coffee and dessert. I thought this was unacceptable. Waters were left unfilled throughout our dinner, we were never asked if we wanted more drinks from the bar. I had asked for a birthday candle in the dessert when I made the reservation, this was not relayed, and again since our waiter wasn't around I couldn't even reiterate this request. Our bill came out to over $550 for 4 and the service level was like a fast food restaurant.
We ordered from the restaurant Week menu. Portions were of good size. One person with us got the chicken parmesan and I would have to say it should have come with a side of pasta or vegetable. It was only the chicken. Our service was good the restaurant is clean with a lovely decor. I would certainly go to this restaurant again and recommend it.
Great restaurant. No problems with the reservations. Good food. Nice environment. Excellent bartenders and drinks. Must try the water ice martini! Will definitely be back.
Excellent Italian food and Sinatra singing all night long. Beautifully decorated and friendly staff. The stacked eggplant and rigatoni with pork in Sunday gravy were outrageous. I had a wonderful birthday dinner at Martorano's.
Great service and nice food, could always use more vegetarian options as more than 1/2 of our group was vegetarian
Our servers were fabulous. I opted for the $69 Strip Steak, which was cooked medium rare, but was rather tough. The rest of my dinner companions chose Italian entrees and they were very satisfied with their selection. I would have liked to see some lighter fare offerings.
Not worth it
Almost as good as the original. Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. Food was phenomenal and my god the meatball. Yummy!!!
When I am at Harrahs I love to go to Martoranos..I feel very comfortable there and the food is very good..The bartenders are also very nice and make you feel welcomed..
everything was great, food is awesome. Don't order the tiramisu dessert (just not on par with the rest of the meal... actually the worst I ever had)
My wife and I stayed over night in Atlantic City for a belated Valentines Day date. Martoranos was a great choice for dinner. Service was outstanding food was great though the pasta was a bit undercooked and the bread seemed to be reheated. Other then that it was perfect. Loved the Sinatra music.
Great vibe. If you want to have some fun be there eating around 9:30 when the DJ starts.
Way over priced!! Chicken Parm came out very pink inside. We were excited to try this place and we were very disappointed.
The restaurant is oddly decorated. And has TVs everywhere! At one point the music was shut off and the fight scene from one of the Rocky movies was blasted on every single TV. Loudly. It was not pleasant.
Not particularly good. The food was average and pricey for the portion size and quality. We barely saw our server, however the food runner and busser were very good. Finally, toward the end of our meal on a friday night, the movie Rocky 4 comes blasting over the TV's and sound system. Shorty thereafter, the disco ball is spinning and house music is playing. So much for ambiance...I would def pass in the future
Service was excellent. Had the calamari for appetizer. Excellent. Had the pork for entree. Was just ok. Was satisfied overall
I’m afraid this will be our last visit to Martoranos AC. We’ve had such good experiences with the FL location but can’t say the same for AC. Our favorite dish is the eggplant stack which is $22 but now half the size it used to be. The $48 pasta had 4 medium shrimp and big non uniform chunks of onion. Plus the supposedly cream cognac sauce tasted exactly like diavolo sauce which we aren’t fond of. I don’t mind paying for quality food but this wasn’t.
This is a prime example how a selfish server can ruin the reputation of both Harrahs AC and a good restaurant like Matoranos. We were treated as though we had never been in a restaurant before when in fact I have eaten here at least eight times in the last three months. The three steaks we ordered medium rare (adding red meat) were overcooked. Two asked for different steaks I did not as I lost my appetite. The argument we heard between the server and the kitchen staff revealed that the server ordered the steaks incorrectly. It was all downhill after that. The table was cleared and we had to ask if we could see a desert menu, but were rudely told the server was busy getting a bill. The Manager took off the price of one steak which was polite but we were not looking for that. At the onset I did ask for Digna an outstanding server, but I believe that our server would not relinquish this table. I look forward to Gordon Ramseys steak house and obtain my medium rare steak therein. Unfortunately I will not return to Matoranos.
My Wife Joanne and I Love the food and all the amazing specials that are always changing and delicious. Bravo Steve!
My Children and their Spouses are now avid fans as well.
Food was bland. Got our appetizer quickly (meatball and salad). Then waited 50 minutes to get our cold Sunday sauce (that had no sauce) terrible veal parmigiana and the only thing that was hot was the carbonara and it tasted like nothing even after putting an entire bowl of Parmesan cheese. Our waitress asked twice where our food was and wasn’t even apologetic. We’ve been too so many Italian restaurants and have never written a review before, good or bad. Just honestly wasn’t worth the money. We ran out of there after they took our plates. What a disgrace. My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to going to this restaurant and honestly we will never come back.
Unfortunately, Matarano's has become too big for their own good. We were seated at our table and ordered drinks and appys and they took almost 20 mts. to be served, then the waiter brought our entrees but all the appy dishes were still on the table. Either they were short-handed Sunday nite 2/18 or they don't care they are missing the mark. Will not go back here until I hear it's improved.....ESPECIALLY with Gordon Ramsay taking over The Steakhouse @ Harrah's !!!!!
I have been going to Martorano's since they opened and have never been disappointed. The orechetti with pancetta and cauliflower with bread crumb crusted top was out of this world. I highly recommend that this special become a regular menu item. If you have a chance to try it do yourself a favor and do so.
Service and staff is very friendly and prompt. Make you feel as family.
Poor quality food with fair service. Menu item descriptions were different than meals that arrived. Different ingredients.
Our server was hands down the best server we have ever had. His name was Hillsley ( maybe spelled wrong). I was disappointed with the food but the service was awesome! I saw online that the menu offered a vodka sauce but the menu didn't have that offered. He checked with the cook and she offered to make it special for me. I appreciated the effort but with so many people there, I could imagine it would take away from what she was already making. The food wasn't bad but my substitute meal just left something to be desired. Our local Applebees typically has more of a tasty sauce. The atmosphere was fun, but honestly, the gentleman that waited on us was the best part of the night, else this review would be much lower in stars.
Love the food and ambiance. The only downfall is the noise level. We could not hear our waiter telling us about the specials as it was way too noisy
Best service I’ve ever had! Food is delicious!
