Martini Modern Italian Ratings and Reviews
Busy Friday night in Columbus but that is to be expected. Disappointed as historically great food and service so made reservation for a group of friends get together. Server seemed distracted and inattentive. No water refills to turn into the wine we ordered and finally came when meals were almost finished. Waitress brought wrong entree - veal for shrimp - and made a big deal out of the fact she took the incorrect item off the bill. Why would we pay for her mistake? By the time the correct meal came out the table was done. I used to count on this a great go to for great service but sadly slipped. As it followed a recent bad experience at another Mitchell restaurant I’m getting disenchanted.
Martini was recommended by our hotel and we were not disappointed. The menu offered creative twists on standard cuisine and the server was knowledgeable, making some excellent suggestions and offering small portions to sample. Nice wine selection. The staff were friendly and efficient, but the actual meal service was a bit fast. Suggestion: Let the diners set the pace of when to bring the next course. Overall, a very nice experience.
My girlfriend and I visited before a night at the theater to watch The Nutcracker and were blown away at the flavor we experienced that evening. Thanks to the knowledgeable and professional staff it was an absolutely amazing night! We will return to sample the many great menu options.
We had a party of 10 and they sat us right in front of the open kitchen. it was very difficult to carry on a conversation with someone other than the person that was sitting right beside you.
They need to extend the happy hour to the entire restaurant not just the bar area.
Rachael was our waitperson and she was delightful! The gluten-free menu was extensive and Rachael was knowledgeable about gluten-free food prep. She and the serving staff were friendly and attentive and we didn’t feel rushed. It is our new favorite restaurant!
I had the President & Vice President of my company in town and knew Martini would be an excellent choice to showcase the fantastic food we have in Columbus. We had a wonderful meal of course and they were blown away by the level of service our server, Brad, provided and were still talking about the fabulous food a day later. I count that a smashing success! Thank you Brad and thank you Martini team for consistently delivering high quality food and stellar service!
Great location for a business dinner. Michael, our server, was absolutely excellent with recommendations and timing. I ordered the tuna - flavorful, well balanced, highly recommend. Only negative is noise. Can be loud if trying to have a discrete conversation.
We have dined at Martini before, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious and feature interesting twists on classic dishes. The service is terrific. Save room for their excellent Creme Brûlée. Martini Modern Italian is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus.
My family are big Cameron Mitchell restaurant fans. We've been to many locations. This night was not up to regular standards. My wife really likes the beet salad however this one seemed to be made with canned not fresh beets. Perhaps our server was new, I've never had one of your servers reach across us to serve, pour drinks, remove plates. I had taken the time when I made the reservation to share we were celebrating our newly engaged couple and one other couple had come from Paris, France for the celebration. Perhaps it was my mistake to expect some recognition of this fact as shared on the reservation but I was a little disappointed. One slightly off experience won't change our overall support of the restaurants but it was a surprising change.
We love every opportunity that we get to come and eat at Martini. We go every year after Thanksgiving before we go to see Scrooge at the Ohio theater. The food the ambience and the service are outstanding. The server that we had this year was absolutely amazing. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
My wife and I have been to Martinis twice. The first time it was less busy, more romantic. Had a very nice romantic seating area. This time, we were in the back portion, and it was packed. Big parties, and some just really loud.
That’d would be my only complaint. Their Short North Tea is awesome, the Ahi Tuna Crudo is good, fresh mozzarella and bread awesome, Short Rib unreal, and my wife loves their scallops.
It’s a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, so it lives up to the reputation he has built. I’d love to thank him for hiring good people, and having a passion for great food. You can be the greatest businessman on Earth, but if you don’t treat people right, and surround yourself with good people, then you will not prosper. He obviously knows this, and is successful, and his workers actually like him.
Our group of 7, who come annually for a local event, enjoyed our appetizers, but this year, did not enjoy the entrees. Something has changed here, and not for the better.
This used to be our “can’t miss” restaurant that was a highlight of our trip, because it’s Columbus, Ohio, and let’s face it, unless you’re here for college football, there is nothing to do in Columbus, Ohio.
I had the salmon and it was excellent...my guests enjoyed the filet mignon and they spoke highly of it as well. Compliments to the chef!! Other than my drink order being messed up (and slow to get it fixed but it was fixed), the service was great. Thank you!
The staff was not well informed on a special they were running this month. The Near North Bourbon Trail Passport. Our waitress struggled at times to be upbeat. She may have just worked a long shift. Gave her the benefit of the doubt and still tipped well. Expected better overall from a Cameron Mitchell restaurant.
We have made reservations for 8:15 pm on Saturday night. We arrived on time, and the hostess told us that we must wait for 20 minutes for our table. We typically make reservations for that very reason - to not wait for a table. There was no calls or texts to let us know that they do not have our table ready. We left Martini’s and dined down the street at Hyde Park, where, after few table sittings maneuvers from the host, we were seated immediately. About 45 minutes later, we receive a text from Martini’s that our table is ready. I replied to let them know that we honored the time, but they did not.
The following day, we received an email in regards to the “missed” reservation with suggestions that it is courteous to call the restaurant ahead and let them know that we won’t honor the reservation. We were there, they were not ready. Curtesy works both ways with more weight on the restaurant, since we are its patrons.
