Martini Grill Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed at the Martini Grill. This was the restaurant where many years ago we announced our engagement...We have been dining at Aret's cozy little Italian place since it was called Osso Buco... He always paid close attention to the tenderness of his Calamari and his signature anchovy dip. His special meat dishes were prepared to perfection and accompanying vegetables were always fresh and tender. Aret would visit your table and tell you how he hand- picked those little green beans. Every dish was excellent but last Friday...we were not the only guests complaining about the food that night. Our Calamari was so chewy, you couldn't eat it. The Broccoli Rabi was so old it was tasteless. Others in the room complained about the vegetables being inedible because they were raw. We asked for Aret, we were told he was busy in the kitchen. Perhaps Aret wasn't even there.
In his defense, I will admit my husband's Stuffed Pork Chop and my Ahi Tuna Salad Appetizer were excellent. The olives, eggplant and bread are always a special touch and wine list is excellent and fairly priced. Many of us have also enjoyed his signature dinners on New Year's Eve.
A little disappointing - go there 5-6 times a year. Risotto wasn’t cooked well. Very hard.
Carrots we cool to cold and hard. Lobster was over cooked. Reminded me of microwaved pizza texture.
Generally a really nice place and food typically great! This time it was a solid meh.
I’ll go back but now wondering if something changes in the kitchen.
Service was also slow. Wasn’t that late but felt like they we slow and strange they were not more attentive to the table.
Martini Grill is one of our usual go to places. We have eaten here many time with no disappointment. Seafood is fresh and prepared as requested. My filet mignon arrived hot and medium as requested. Portions are healthy and occasionally enough to take home. Jimmy took good care of us this time and always.
We had dinner with friends at Martini Grill. The inside is very cozy and warm. The appetizers were excellent. My husband said it was the best calamari he had in a long time and the lobster bisque soup was just so yummy. Our entrees were also excellent. The portions were a very nice size. We had creame brûlée for dessert and I can't remember when I had one that was better. I think we have found our new favorite. We will be back.
I've eaten at the Martini Grill on numerous occasions and always found the food to be quite good. However this was the first time I have gone for dinner as opposed to lunch. Only complaint during lunch is that service is slow. They advertise live music on the weekends and there was none. We used a groupon so it was a spectacular value but there are some limitations so I'd suggest calling to find out more info before purchasing a groupon. Still well worth it. The Martini's were meh, mostly because I just wanted a regular gin martini and all they had were vodka based specialties. But I'm sure those are more popular with the masses. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has good ambiance. Overall I would recommend it esp if you're local to Carlstadt, Woodridge, Hasbrouck Heights, etc.
First time at the Martini Grill and will not be the last. Everything was very good. I enjoyed my swordfish and my husband enjoyed his salmon. We split the appertizer which was plenty for the two of us. I especially loved the olive bread that was brought to the table.
Food was amazing, ordered tuna app. to share, plenty of food, salad had a wasabi dressing which was so good. I had the salmon over veggies & noodles, great taste, my friend had the pork loin, she loved it. The presentation was so nice & the food was delicious. We also tried the Martini's, I had the fig & she had the mango, both were very good. I am looking forward to going back & getting different ones.
The staff were gracious, although a just bit slower than we wanted. We had explained that we were in a bit of of a rush.
The food was divinely prepared. There were 3 of us and we all happened to order the duck, which was great! The cocktails were prepared precisely to our orders. This restaurant is definitely a find and I look forward to going back, when I can eat at a more leisurely pace.
This restaurant is a great special occasion dinner spot. The ambience is warm and cozy with just the right amount of classy touches. With a warm and welcoming environment, and a beautiful jazz accompaniment playing in the background, it will make any special occasion that much more special.
But where this place really shines is the dishes that come out of the kitchen. For appetizer we went with a grilled tomatoes, and plant, red peppers, and mozzarella. We also got a seafood medley in a rich and extremely delicious broth. For entrée I went with the perfectly cooked and tender line shank on a bed of garbanzo beans and fresh summer medley vegetables. For dessert we couldn't have gone any better with a double whammy of crème brûlée and tartufo. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.
Went here with a Groupon. The service was impeccable. The woman who served was so genuinely friendly and helpful and caring. The breads, the martini options, the main courses, the special lamb ragout app was outstanding!! Place is a neighborhood gem. If you want something very similar that is perhaps closer to your home, try PJ Rufo's. Very similar. Highly recommend this place. The bar had two extremely loud women who clearly knew the staff, so that was a bit annoying during dinner but not a huge downer.
Martini grill was a nice restaurant. The martinis are great and food was good...I had the sword fish. They had a musician playing guitar. He played italian songs along with some johnny cash Billy Joel etc. Though service was a bit on the slow side, it was still good.
Tables near the bar should be avoided on nights when there is music. We were going to be seated in one and had to coerce the manager to move us. Once that happened, everything was great. We started with a spinach stuffed portobello mushroom which was superb. My wife had seafood linguini without the linguini. Grilled vegetables substituted for the pasta. Nice that there's a kitchen willing to accommodate a change. I had the linguini bolognese. The pasta was perfectly al dente. Ended with the shared delicious godiva dessert. Also recommend the house by the glass Malbec. Lastly, Toni was our server. She is charming and attentive. Reservations are needed and I would ask to be seated at one of her tables.
We shared the mozzarella appetizer to start. A slight twist as it included eggplant and the usual tomato. My wife had mixed seafood and I had chicken chanterelle. Both were hot and good size portions. Do yourself a favor and leave some room for the Godiva chocolate dessert. Martini Grill never disappoints.
The appetizer and soup were outstanding, the entree and dessert were average. Given they were charging 85 bucks a person for NYE; expected much better food.
It's probably a good deal when ordering a la carte but the prix fix menu isn't worth it given how expensive it turns out to be with mandatory 20% gratuity
Food was very delish. Portions were large and served on an attractive plate Colorful and pallette pleasing .Service was excellant .Toni the server had been there for 12 yeats and was knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu. Nice quiet atmosphere Very good restaurant I defintely would go back
