About Mart Anthony's
Mart Anthony’s is your home for authentic Italian cooking. We have been serving traditional Italian food to the Chicagoland community since 1981.
Our recipes have been handed down through our family for three generations. Only the finest and freshest ingredients go into our menu and we are happy to share our love of food with you.
Some of our favorite dishes are Grilled calamari, Tortellini romano, Chicken Saltimboca and of course, our signature dish, The Mart Anthony Filet encrusted in Pecorino Romano cheese in a Pomodoro sauce. Have lunch or dinner around a table with your family or co-workers, or a cozy dinner for two. Come sit elbow-to-elbow at the bar and enjoy the camaraderie that happens when our customers are well-fed and have their cocktail of choice at hand. The dining room at Mart Anthony’s can accommodate all of these different groups and then some. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and if you’re not careful, you may stay longer than you thought.

Mart Anthony's Ratings and Reviews
Shhh if more people knew about Mart Anthonies it would be harder to get a table. 8 minutes from United Center, Inexpensive great food, easy parking, wonderful family and staff. If your going to the UC or simply out for the night check it out you will be glad you did.
I live in San Francisco and this is my favorite Italian restaurant anywhere. The food is exceptional. It’s traditional Italian that is prepared with quality ingredients. There’s a great variety of choices on the menu. The ambience in this authentic Italian restaurant helps to make this a go to destination every time I’m in Chicago.
I only get to Mart Anthony's a couple of times a year, but it is always a treat. Great food served by some of the best wait staff in the city - friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive without being intrusive. I was with three others and each ordered a different type of food. After shared appetizers of calamari and sausage & peppers, my entree was the veal limon. Absolutely delightful.
It only whetted my appetite for my next visit.
Recently moved to the area & saw a small italian local restaurant. It had great reviews on Yelp so we had to check it out & it did not disappoint! Food was amazing & flavorful! Service was great. There is a sit down area as well as a bar and TVs to watch any sporting events.
This was a nice little Italian restaurant. Good food good service and free valet parking. Better than I was expecting. Try the lasagna or the veal marsala both were excellent. Nice sounding specials as well. Very reasonably priced. decent wine list and specialty beers.
The food was absolutely amazing! The fettuccini alfredo and lobster ravioli were phenomenal! The calamari was awesome! The people who worked they were wonderful! And the mood of the restaurant was perfect for a date or gathering with friends! Would 10/10 recommend! I will be going back very soon.
The 4 of us went for a friend's bday dinner. The place has nice ambiance, its cozy and active. There was a positive energy going on and we were still able to have a normal conversation without having to talk over the noise. The food was great, tasty and generous portions. Service was equally great: friendly, professional and attentive, and they even brought a delicious slice of cake with a candle for the bday girl. another plus was available street parking.
we will definitely go back there and will recommend it to friends.
Mart Anthony is like eating pasta at your grandmothers house on Sundays. It has that homey, Italian food feeling. You feel so welcome there as you are greeted by the owner, staff and even the customers talk to you. Really enjoy going there. It's nothing fancy but food and service are wonderful.
Both the food and the service were excellent. Their Italian dishes (as seen at our table) were equal to their steaks. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the owner made it a point to welcome us and give us a brief history of their 36 years in existence (as of September 2017). We were all very pleased.
My sig other and I had a date night. Got a 7:30 seating. Place was starting to fill up and it had outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside. Place is a little dimly lit but good ambience nevertheless. Wait staff was cordial, respectful but attentive. We got a bottle of wine, ordered apps (Oysters) and talked the evening away. Noise level was comfortable and we weren't yelling at each other. I had steak and she had veal- both delicious. Each came with a side of pasta (I would have opted for something else). No dessert because we were full. Definitely a repeat visit in the future.
We went on a weekday evening for a business dinner. We sat outside because it was too dark and noisy inside. It's on a quiet stretch of Hubbard, but it's a bit industrial and right next to the 'el. The service was the best part. We had the grilled calamari which was served in a strange tasting red sauce, not marinara. For the entrees we had linguine and the pasta was good, not great. The chicken vesuvio was a bit overcooked and too salty. The tiramisu was good, but nothing special. Overall, not bad, but there are better Italian places.
So good! Went there with my family for a dinner out. We sat outside on the patio and it was absolutely perfect! The patio is on a quieter street so it was very chill. We kicked it off with wine that was tasty and well priced. For food starters we got sausage and peppers... it was delicious! The sauce was a delicious buttery concoction. The bread service was brought automatically and they had olive oil and Parmesan at the table -- yummmmmm! We ordered pastas and a filet mignon to share between the table. The filet was prepared to a delicious medium rare and is well priced for a 14 ounce monster. My sister is gluten-free and they offer gluten-free pasta (I think it's linguine). For the gluten eaters we got lobster ravioli - soooo good. We finished it off with tartufo, the best one I've had, and canoli cake. I definitely recommend this spot whether it is for a casual dinner out or a nice romantic evening. Next time I'm in Chicago, I will be coming back!
Got calamari/shrimp in a red sauce which was a little out of context with seafood in my opinion. We also got the NY Strip which had a garlic sauce on it. It kind of overwhelmed the taste of the steak (which was 16oz & very splittable). I'd get the steak w/0o the sauce next time.
Very good food at reasonable prices. The service is always great and they truly want to make you happy there. Portions are large and can be shared for sure. Almost anything you order comes with a side of pasta. Sauces are very tasty. Enjoy going there. It is a warm, friendly, eat at grammas on a Sunday afternoon type of feel.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They welcomed my dog, but they didn't make her into a spectacle, which I super appreciated. The food we ordered was mostly pretty delicious, the notable exception being my steak. I ordered it medium rare, but it was not even close to that when it arrived, way overcooked. It was also really dry. I'd definitely go back, but I probably wouldn't order the steak again.
We all did really enjoy the pastas and the calamari though, both the grilled and fried calamari are delicious.
