Seafood special not at all as described and the wine was not the vintage listed on the wine list. Disappointing for a usually reliable restaurant.
The food was average at best. The lobster & shrimp bisque was barely warm & did not have sufficient seasoning. In addition, the gumbo did not have any creole influence. I probably will not return.
Always a delicious meal when I go to Marsha Browns! Love it there!
Scallops were excellent!
Excellent service and food. Filet is heaven
Chose Marsha Brown as the spot to propose to my girlfriend. The restaurant reserved a love seat table for us, called to confirm that the plans were still the same, and provided the champagne toast I had requested. The ambiance in the restaurant is great, the interior is beautiful. Even the bar area on the first floor looks great and we want to come back to try that.
The food was delicious. We had the crab cake appetizer, I had the Chalmette Scallops and my fiance had the Atlantic Salmon and Shrimp. All of the offerings were delicious. We were sorry that we didn't have room for dessert, but we will back and make sure to try them.
And, she said yes! So perfect night!!
Thanks Marsha Brown staff for making this a great dinner and the perfect place for my proposal. And the rose petals after she said yes.
One of my favorite resturaunts, so beautiful with amazing service:)
I had a wonderful dinner service was exceptional food was great value staff was courteous was greeted in seated immediately recommend to all
Great night out with family! Server was great, and food was good!
Our waiter Mick was the best, food was amazing and we can't wait to come back. I had a fantastic birthday.
This is the third time we had been at the restaurant. The restaurant itself is impressive in its look. However, we were seated in an area upstairs that could have been given to someone else, but was given to us even though it was directly in front of the steps where all of the waiters go. The food was good but not what I would call wow! The mussels were overly seasoned in a tomato sauce, The jambalaya dish came out lukewarm, the white wine was served not cold, and then when it was replaced, I was given a different wine. That was then corrected again. You would have thought they would have taken that off the bill.
The price was more expensive than the value. However, it is a very nice room and location.
Absolutely flawless from start to finish! The service was superb and the food was to die for!! I can’t wait to go back....great, wonderful place!
my only complaint is the risotto, was very gummy... other than that, was fun, great dinner and great service.
We went for my mom's 70th birthday. It was a great experience. They had the table decorated upon arrival with a nice satin ribbon and some confetti. The waiter was nice and personable. The food was amazing. Not one thing that we did not like. The dessert came out with a candle and was on the house. It was so good and big enough for us to share. My mom and I also split a salad before our meal and they had it prepared on two separate plates. The cost, while this is a more expensive restaurant was very reasonable. Broken down, for four people, it was about $50 a person and that included 4 alcoholic beverages. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This place is incredible! Food and service was outstanding!
Surprised at the lack of flavor, presentation and quality of food. Wait staff was great but food was not good. We sent one of our desserts back because it was undercooked. Sides were greasy and overcooked. Main entree disappointing. Not at all what I expected. Listening to surrounding tables- seems others were making comments about their meals too. Maybe we experienced an off night considering the other reviews??
The food was AMAZING!
I think what tipped the experience off was the manager coming up to my husband and I to ask about our experience. Excellent customer service!
Cool atmosphere. Everything was great except the seating was cramped. There were tables right next to us on either side maybe only two feet away. Had very little privacy.
My wife eat at Marsha’s on special occasions such as Valentines Day or our anniversary. The food is terrific. The philly area has a dearth of cajun/creole food but this place fills the void. The old church building is both funky and welcoming. Our server, Adrian was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive to us. But we came for the food and were wwqvery satisfied. The jambalaya was terrific with hunks of craw, crawfish and sausage in a deep and spicy rue (sp?). My wife had crab cakes which were crispy and not soaked in grease. Hunks of crab with very little filler seasoned to perfection. We shared crawfish risotto and oh my. This decadent dish was unbelievably delicious. Finally we ended with the bread pudding which was warm, sweet and delightful. My only complaint is that I wish marsh’s was closer to DELCO. Please keep up the great food!
We have been to Marsh Brown's on many occasions and never have been disappointed. The service is excellent and attentive. The food is superb! Pricey, but for a special occasion well worth it.
I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. The cocktails were amazing, great wine list, potentially the best service I’ve ever had and the food was unreal. I can’t wait to go back.
Delicious as always. Our server Adrian was on point! Will return
Excellent food and service- our waiter was amazing. The restaurant itself is set in an old church and is beautiful.
Waiter disappeared between end of meal and check for 20 minutes. Bummer ending of a great meal.
Everything was perfect. Requested wine was waiting for us before we were seated. Evening couldn’t have been any better.
We had Shawn as our, waiter. He was fabulous. Great service. The man who brought the food out was amazing. He ran all night. Awesome dinner
Me and my wife love this restaurant ! Always delicious food and great service!
Valentine's Day Date night
We had Valentine's Day dinner at Marsha Brown's. The food was very good. The setting is outstanding. The service was excellent. We had a very nice time. It does get a little loud upstairs making it difficult to hear at times, but all in all, it was an outstanding experience - as it always is!
Had a fantastic time the food the service and the audience was excellent would definitely return and recommend to my friends
The New Orleans Creole fare is yummy. Former church with murals and stained glass is part of the decor. Service was excellent especially on such a big ‘dining out’ evening.
I love lobster on Valentine’s Day! Green beans side dish was wonderful.
Great dessert drinks was a nice flourish. The finish was with a single pink rose and a heart shaped chocolate which ended the night out. It was very romantic.
Celebrated Valentine's Day with dinner at Marsh Brown's. Been waiting a while to try this restaurant and they didn't disappoint. Beautiful restaurant. Made reservations and were seated well within our expectations. Food was excellent and service was great. Have to come back to try the pecan pie! It was a packed house, so it was a bit on the noisy side. Definitely will return - I have to try the entire menu.
This was the worst dining experience we've had in years. Two of our choices were inedible. The only positive was the professional waiter who served us.
My GF and I had dinner on Valentine's Day. This was her first time but I've been to MB for a work event so I was familiar with the menu and decor. Despite being fully booked, the noise level was bearable and the staff was very attentive. Maybe this was the Valentine's Day staff but still, they were prepared for it. GF liked the decor, especially the Delacroix inspired wall painting and our waiter knew the history. We both had the beet salad and lobster bisque; nicely done. GF had the crawfish etouffee and I had the eggplant Ophelia, both nicely done, and bread pudding for dessert...really good. Seems like the menu hadn't changed much since, just small tweaks to the creole theme.
Wonderful dining experience. Food was wonderful staff was pleasant service was great. Will go again. Thank you
Great food and drinks. But expensive but worth it. Service was excellent.
Marsha Brown's is one of my favorite restaurants. Most importantly, the food is top notch, every bite is heavenly. The staff manage to create a sophisticated atmosphere that is also warm and welcoming; you won't want to leave!
