Marsha Brown Ratings and Reviews
Appetizer was shrimp cocktail at $8 per shrimp. As appetizer was brought out our dinners were brought out. I looked at the server and said "you're serious?" and all I got was an "I'm sorry" and abruptly walked away. At those prices it's simply not acceptable. I was out with a friend and wasn't about to make a big deal over it but it really should have been comped or something should have been offered.
Marsha Brown was what I expected. The food was great and the service was pretty satisfactory. It is a bit loud and slightly too crammed for my preferences. But it didn't take away from the experience. Creole isn't a cuisine that I come across as frequently as I'd like so it is nice that it's pretty local. I'd recommend trying it!
I had the filet mignon and the twice baked potatoes, which were both unbelievable. It was one of those dishes that you keep eating, even though you're full. The green beans were pretty good too, but nothing beats the potatoes. I'm drooling even thinking about them.
Marsha Brown is now my favorite restaurant. We have dined there twice and can't wait to go back again. Food and setting are terrific, but what really sets it apart is the service. Every single employee we encountered was wonderful and made us feel like valued customers.
We have been to Marsha Brown's 3 or 4 times in recent past and it is always a pleasure. The ambiance is warm and friendly, set in an old church that has been tastefully re-done as a restaurant. The mural at the front alone is worth the trip -- not to everyone's taste, no doubt, but a conversation item. Food is not cheap but always of very high quality and cooked to perfection. Most items reflect New Orleans specialties. Steaks are absolutely wonderful, if rather pricey. Onion rings are the best we have ever tasted anywhere. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced. On the whole, an enjoyable evening. Wait and serving staff are very friendly, competent and chatty, but not overbearing. It feels almost like dining with a family.
For a very crowded New Year's Eve, the restaurant staff handled it very well, backing each other up when needed, and all courses arrived in a timely and efficient manner. We have gone to this restaurant for the last 3 New Year's Eve evenings and have never been disappointed. The staff is cheerful and make the evening special.
Thank you for a great evening.
We are return customers because the cuisine has always been excellent. Not so good last night. My wife and I ordered Filet Mignon on New Year's Eve. My wife sent the order back twice until it was overdone and not eatable. My filet was underdone but not worth the hassle. The waiter knew we were unhappy but never acknowledged the situation.
We will return because we had many great meals at Marsha Browns but last night was not what we expected either with the food nor the service.
Marcia Brown's is an elegant, well appointed restaurant with food to match the ambiance; it's a place where you do not want the meal to ever end and wish you had enough room to sample the entire menu. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions as well as dining with family, friends, or for business. We had the crabcakes and filet mignon and these dishes are outstanding. As always, when in town, we will return, no doubt. A special thank you to Jack who made the our dining experience special.
We have been frequenting Marsha Brown's for many years, most recently on Christmas Eve. The food and the service (and the drinks) never disappoint. The wait staff is extremely experienced, personable and many have been with the restaurant for years. Hard to beat the steaks, seafood and the side dishes which are exceptional. This is a great venue for a special occasion. The former church setting is both a little quirky and interesting. Hard to find another eating establishment where you can dine where the alter used to be! One of the best venues in the "greater" New Hope/Lambertville area. A special tip of the hat to veteran waiter Adrian who is a fixture at Marsha Brown's and exemplifies professionalism and is always a treat to have as one's server.
Second visit and once again had a wonderful experience. Not inexpensive but worth it. Valet parking was full which was disappointing but understandable due to it being Christmas eve. Other wise it is a great convenience when parking is a hassle. The staff from waiter to coat check are friendly and welcoming. Will always be my first choice on special occasions.
such a great place ! I have been here twice: for my birthday with friends, and for Christmas with my mom. Both times we all had a great time and loved our food. The ambiance is stunning- interior of an old church... the food is very special, delicious and unique, and the service is A+++
It's time for our annual Christmas Eve dinner. Where? - Marsha Browns -of course. It's always a special evening for me and my family. We've come here for last 3-4 years and it's always just a special evening. Jack, our waiter, was friendly and knowledgeable.
We had shared appetizers, barbecue shrimp and crab cakes. Jack recommended the barbecue shrimp dish and it was absolutely delicious and nothing like what I envisioned when I read it in the menu.
I had the gumbo- great taste, along with a little heat. I'd definitely get that again.
For entrees, our party had crab cakes (you can never have enough) and filets - excellent cut of meat and prepared exactly as requested - along with family style sides of green beans/bleu cheese, twice baked potato, mashed potato and asparagus.
Dessert was shared - carrot cake and sorbet. Overall I'd recommend everything we ordered. It was a wonderful evening and great way to start the holiday season.
This was a special dinning experience. As outstanding as the food was, the service was even better. Even though the restaurant was very busy we were treated as if we had the place to ourselves - - from the hostess check-in, to our seating, to the wait staff service (bus boy Tyler & waitress Rebecca) which was outstanding. Even though we live a significant distance from New Hope, PA we plan on making Marsha Brown's a dinning destination multiple times.
A wonderful dinning experience as usual at Marsha Brown's. I had the Black Grouper and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I also had the Church Salad as it is one of my favorite salads. The service is the best around and the staff makes you feel very welcome. This is my favorite restaurant for any occasion. We always look forward to dinner outings here and have never yet been disappointed.
