The ambiance was a special start to the evening. The restaurant is in an old church a great use of the space. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. I can’t think of one negative for the evening. Good friends, good ambiance, good service and the most important l, good food.
I have dined at Marsha Browns on various nights of the week at different times of the year. I have never dined here before on a Saturday evening. This is a mistake that I will never make again. While I'm sure the food would have been delicious, we didn't stay past our cocktails to find out. When one is enjoying a fine dining experience, being able to hear your waiter and dining companion is an important part of the evening. It was SO LOUD that I couldnt hear either without shouting across the table. After the manager came to our table and gave us a sarcastic and half-hearted apology, we finished our drinks and left. Sad that the ambience doesn't live up to the food quality.
This place absolutely blew me away from the moment we walked in the door. I made the reservation from open table, and one of the questions on the request was “special occasion”. I selected “birthday” and in the notes, I explained I was talking a girl I really like there on a date for her birthday (it was a surprise for her as I didn’t say where we were going). I won’t explain in detail what they did for us because I don’t want to give away anyone else’s potential surprise, but you will not be disappointed. They went above and beyond to make us, and most importantly her feel so special, it just set the beginning for an amazing night together. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is incredible, and all of the staff are so accommodating and attentive. Thank you everybody at Marsha Brown! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely outstanding. From the time you drop off a Valet, until the time you leave. Food was incredible and our waiter Doug was the best. You know it’s good when you get to the second bite and say “we’re definitely coming back”. Yes, it’s that good. A delight in every way. Decor was awesome. We couldn’t stop looking. I’d highly recommended Marsha’s to anyone looking for a absolutely perfect night out.
Unique setting. Excellent/professional service. We went for our anniversary and they helped us celebrate with rose petals on the table and complementary dessert. The surf and turf (tournados of beef and crab cake over crawfish risotto) was outstanding. We also liked Ophelia’s eggplant dish very much. This was our second time at the restaurant and highly recommend
Very disappointed in last visit. Steak was brought out - touched plate, now have a second degree burn on finger. Server told me not to touch plate after I already did. Asparagus was so well done could not cut it. Husbands Cowboy steak very fatty - got a better steak at Longshore. My filet very dry.
My wife & I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Marsha Brown. The entire staff, headed by Adrian, were very friendly, attentive, & informative -- they even decorated the table with rose petals for the occasion & comped our dessert. Each course was excellent & perfectly prepared & presented -- starting with the crab "cheesecake", followed by the salmon/shrimp & strip steak entrees. Nice choice of wines by the glass, too. While not exactly an "intimate" setting, the noise level was better than expected for such a large, open space.
This was our second time visiting and had a great experience, again. Our friends were very happy with the choice. The food is very rich and tasty. The crab beignets were our favorite app. Service was amazing.
Pass this place up...... very disappointed
Nice restaurant with excellent food. The setting in an old church was very nice as well.
Always wanted to eat here while walking around in New Hope, but never was able to walk in and snag a table. This time we booked an early dinner in advance. Sat at table upstairs in main dining room. Really unique to eat in former church. Very bright and airy. We had the crab beignets (very good, but a few had cold spots inside), chopped salad (good flavor, over-dressed), jambalaya (okay but strangely sweet), death by gumbo (good), bread pudding (good). With two (generously-poured) drinks each for party of two our check came to $160 before tip.
The reason I would not go back is that while we enjoyed ourselves, this restaurant ultimately does not deliver a premium experience equal to the prices. Here are a few of the small "fails" that took away from what could be an excellent restaurant.
1) Men's bathroom. Reasonably clean, but the lock is missing on the wobbly bathroom stall. Toilet paper is see-thru thin and impossible to pull out without ripping after one piece. Felt like I was back in high school.
2) Dirty silverware. I think it was mostly water spots and smudges on the silverware and water glasses, but someone should be polishing these before they are set out on tables.
3) Baffling prices and steakhouse rules. I understand the owner also is part of Ruth's Chris but charging $8+ for sides seems excessive. I've never heard of $34/lb of lobster or $4.50/oyster, even in NYC restaurants?
On the positive side our waiter was efficient, friendly, and knowledgable about the menu. And the ambience of the main dining room is really cool.
Our visit to Marsha Brown's New Hope was an Amazing time. Everything was beyond Excellent. The wait staff were friendly and very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. Service was superb and the Food Phenomenal. The Absolutely Best place to Dine in the whole Philadelphia/Bucks County area.
Thank you for a Wonderful Evening.
The space is nice and eclectic. We shared many appetizers rather than a main course. The blue crab beignets and the crab cannelloni mornay were outstanding. Also enjoyed the lobster and crab bisque and crab cake appetizer. It's nice to have the option to order small plates rather than committing to big ones. $3.50-4.50 per oyster was a bit steep, so we didn't order those. Overall it was a good dining experience for Mothers Day.
Great ambiance and food. If you are traveling with a taller person who sits in a wheelchair it can be a little tight. My mother’s legs barely made it into the elevator. Great experience overall.
Overall GREAT FOOD! Our appetizers were the crab cakes and coconut shrimp both delicious! I had the 3lb lobster My mom had lamb chops , my wife the daily fish and my brother the chicken, we shared the sweet potato casserole all EXCELLENT‼️ For dessert we had the carrot cake my mom the bread pudding which is a special ask not listed on the menu we were comped dessert due to a waiter not ours inadvertently causing my lemonade to spill on me due to tight spacing, the moves us to a more spacious table and also offered to pay dry cleaning, since it was mother’s day they also gave a rose to my mother and wife, so in conclusion I would highly recommend this restaurant it was our second year going on Mother’s Day requested by both my mom and wife so we surprised them both with a return trip!
Took my wife and daughter for Mother's Day. Service was extremely friendly and offered a full menu for the holiday. Food was delicious. Great experience and highlight recommend.
Great for mother’s day lunch! Wait staff was super great
We had a great dinner. We originally were going to sit upstairs but there was a bar table that was available sooner and was more of what we were looking food great night.
The only authentic creole and cajun food in the greater Philadelphia area. The rue is dark, the food generally well prepared (although we're still trying to figure out how the pecan pie had crust and pecans, but essentially no filling. Wait staff is helpful, but also overworked, so it can take a while to see them again.
Excellent food,service and ambiance.
Look forward to coming back soon!
We’d wanted to eat at Marsha Brown’s for years and we finally had an opportunity to eat there in celebration of my daughters birthday and an early Mother's Day Dinner. Everything from the waitress, the food, and the ambiance, Marsha Brown’s was absolutely better than we had anticipated. Whenever you try a new restaurant, you’re always apprehensive as to what you’ll get. We were not disappointed and can’t wait to go back!!
The food was excellent. The service was good until our server got a large table and didn’t return. We went without drink refills and opportunity to order dessert for my husband’s birthday and waited for a long time to get check. Server must have sent manager over to ask if we wanted dessert and to bring check. Manager was very nice and offered dessert for my husband’s birthday on the House but we were so tired from waiting that we declined. Would have been nice to have more attention, especially on special occasion and for price of dinner.
Unique food for a unique venue. Price are on the high side but definitely a place to take people you want to impress - good combination steakhouse and creole seafood cookin
very clean, nice quiet restaurant. service was outstanding
Loved taking my husband out to this lil gem. He loved his steak and I had a very tasty (vegetarian) pasta dish! I wasn't a huge fan of the dessert though, did not taste fresh. But the service was great and I had a wonderful time.
Food, Service and Hospitality was inviting and enjoyable! Thank you!
Great food, service... Will definitely return. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Excellent food and excellent service!
My husband previously had never had gumbo. He enjoyed Marsha Brown’s gumbo. This is quit a fete because he’s very difficult to please when it comes to food.
I always love coming to this restaurant. I told my entire family about it and now everyone makes the 1.5 hour trip because it is completely worth it! The food is the best we've had anywhere & the service is always memorable.
The food is amazing. Our server was awesome. His personality fit our party perfectly!
It was great! Definitely coming back.
Good value for the price. Excellent service. Unique setting (church).
The atmosphere was so cool, unique and trendy. I have never seen anything like it. The service was great. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the place and its history. The food was delicious, especially the sweet potato casserole...YUM! The presentation of the food was not impressive, but the flavor of the food was.
We enjoyed drinks at the bar then dinner upstairs on Saturday, April 27, 2019. There was a crowd around the bar but the bar tenders were working quickly to get every one served. The ginger pear martini was a nice start to the evening. Dinner was crabmeat ravioli and my husband had the French Quarter surf and turf - 2 fillet medallions, a crabcake and crawfish risotto. Everything was delicious and would order again.
The waiters were all pleasant, quick and efficient. It was nice to see some of the same faces from previous visits. I think the last visit was after the Shad Festival in Lambertville in April 2018.
We always have a good time here and the food is consistently great. Thanks so much.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in New Hope. There are not many cajun restaurants in our area and this place is special given its location in a former church. The waiter was fantastic and the food was exception. I highly recommend this restaurant both for the flavorful food and amazing ambiance.
Went to celebrate my birthday with friends.
Not enough servers or help. Had to keep asking for items as simple as bread . 20 minutes before we were acknowledged.
Steak had to be sent back to be cooked to right temperature , by the time it came back everyone had already ate :/
No one even acknowledged the poor service or even offered to comp a single thing . Needless to say we lack
A great steak house in the local area !!
Marsha Browns is a top notch spot in New Hope. Always a great meal and I look forward to returning.
My husband and I went to Marsha Brown for his birthday. We love the atmosphere there. The wait staff was terrific, anticipating our needs but not interfering with our conversation. Food, as always, was excellent. It is a treat to dine at Marsha Brown's.
