My partner and I were in New Hope for a short weekend for my birthday. After a lot of deliberation on where to go as the options were numerous, we decided Marsha's was too intriguing to pass up. Man, am I so glad we went. Every moment was special. One of the valets held the door for us as we went in. Someone offered to check our coats. Since it was the first day of the holiday season, there were little jingle bells on our table (which had like a high-backed love seat I adored). Our server, John, was kind, thoughtful, and gave us outstanding service. He took the time to take us through the whole menu and we ordered based on a few of his recommendations. The crab cheesecake appetizers was one of the best crab dishes I've ever had. The texture was perfect and so were the flavors. For dinner, I had the tournedos and my partner had the surf and turf. My steak medallions were cooked to perfection and the black peppercorn sauce wasn't too overpowering. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate mousse. The serving was very generous and we simply couldn't finish it because of how stuffed we were. For drinks, I started with the Sazerac (so smooth with just a hint of absinthe) and my partner got the aviator (also really well balanced, spirit forward and very refreshing). We finished the evening with a glass of wine each. Overall, I can't say enough good things about our experience. Every staff member we interacted with--from the hostess who sat us to the backwaiter who watered us and brought us bread--was professional and intentional. As a first timer in New Hope, Marsha's has made it such that we'll have to return again and again and eat there each time. Thank you to all who made the evening so special!
Marsha Brown’s is our favorite place to eat in New Hope and always a must stop when we visit. The oysters are always amazing, other seafood is fresh and delicious and the creole classics are always on point - we have never had a bad meal here! I recommend requesting balcony seating as it is less crowded and really nice to sit up high in this cool old renovated church if you want a more special experience. Aside from the delicious food, the service is always great, they have valet parking, coat check and despite the upscale environment, there is no unreasonable dress code, which is good for the many tourists that frequent New Hope.
Excellent food and service.Nice place for a special occasion
It is a fun restaurant.
This was Thanksgiving dinner. That said, the restaurant was crowded, and our seating was delayed due to the crowds and large groups. Everything else was great. The turkey dinner was well prepared and the service once we were seated was spot on. We would definitely dine here at Thanksgiving again.
Loved Everything about it. Food delicious! Service outstanding! Beautiful interior of old church with stain glass windows
Very average food. I found a hair in my eggplant dish, which is an immediate turnoff. Service was good.
Great restaurant and unique dining experience- meaning a very positive overall dining experience. It's hard to find a special, unique restaurant that exceeds your expendations. Try Marsha Brown's. Like no other and exceptional. A true find for those that want to dine with exceptional food and service, but also a unique overall experience. Enjoy!
I took my girlfriend here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, the paintings and decor all throughout the restaurant are just so beautiful, the service was incredible, and the food was amazing. The crawfish étouffée was delicious and reminded us of our first vacation we took together to New Orleans. I highly recommend!
This was my first time at Marsha Brown's and it will not be my last. It can be a bit of a ride in from North Jersey, but its worth it.
Dig it like a polaroid picture!
Great food and service!
Love this restaurant and have a great experience every time we go.
Waiters (we had Jack this time) are always friendly and informative, but not intrusive. Just right.
This place is great.
An Amazing Experience!!
We entered Marsha Browns and were greeted very warmly by Matt at the host stand. Though we were a half hour early for our reservation he sat us right away. We were immediately struck by the atmosphere and décor. Marsha Browns is previous church converted into a restaurant, complete with Altar area, choir loft and stain glass windows. Tyler our Server was one of the best I have ever encountered. He was extremely friendly, engaging and offered great insights to the menu. This was a birthday celebration, and everyone went out of their way to ensure we were having a great time. Our entire meal from appetizer to entrée to dessert was over the top delicious and out of this world. Tyler suggested an appetizer – Crab cake Cheesecake – it was to die for. Our eggplant and salmon entrees were exceptionally outstanding. Finally, the New Orleans Bread Pudding was so delicious. So good you would want to order a second portion to take home. Again, an amazing experience. Special thanks to Tyler for helping to make it one.
Wonderful as always💗
We had always wanted to try Marsha’s and were not disappointed . Service and food top notch . Be prepared to eat ! Lamp Chop lollipops ( best I have ever had ) my wife loved the crabmeat cheesecake . I had a stuffed lobster that was top notch and Camile eggplant Ophelia which she loved . We were so stuffed we couldn’t eat dessert .
If you are in New Hope, the food is wonderful and the fact that the restaurant is in an old church makes for a beautiful and unique setting. However, our service was sub par. Our server was nice and friendly, but he was clearly "in the weeds" from the moment we sat down. The fresh baked bread came halfway though salads because apparently he burned the first loaf (I have so many questions. Why was a server also trying to bake bread. Why not just take the next loaf out so each table is waiting a few minutes instead of one table waiting forever.) Our entrees came while we were finishing our salads so we had that awkward holding salad plate so dinner could be set down and with no room on the tiny two-top we were sitting at we had to forgo finishing them (to be fair, we prob each only had a few bites left, but still). About that two-top - it was in the middle of a very busy and crowded room, up in what was the choir loft of the church. It felt like we were eating in a hallway - about as opposite as intimate as you can get. We watched our poor server go up and down the choir loft steps about a hundred times to get other patrons, a fork, extra bread, etc., so it was difficult to catch him. Our entrees came out wrong - the rub for the steak our server recommended and sold us on was omitted. By the time he brought a replacement we were done. Oh and aside from the initial pour, our water glasses remained empty despite asking three different times. Look if you are reading this far, you probably think I am some kind of high-maintenance awful human. I'm really not. But if I am paying $15-20 for a salad and $30-45 for an entree, I really expect better service than this. Had we been at a regular $ or $$ restaurant, I would have just shrugged and said, "service on a Saturday night. it is what it is." But this was $$$$. If I were to recommend - go on a weeknight.
Always feels special when we go here!!
The food was amazing, however, the most credit goes to the wait staff! They were very knowledgeable and in great humor.
I would love to stop in again real soon!
Excellent dining experience! Our waiter was incredible and his recommendations for everything were phenomenal, we will definitely be visiting again soon. I highly recommend dining here if you are in the area.
Perfect food, amazing service, gorgeous atmosphere.
Very interesting restaurant! Doug was our waiter--he was terrific! The decor and ambiance are exceptional. We had great time!
Adversary 30 years
Had a fantastic experience here, we sat upstairs - Lovely. Server was wonderful as was the Handcrafted Adult Beverages, Wine List and of course Food Selections. BRAVO!!!
We dined at Marsha brown before but this last dinner experience was not pleasant. The service was poor, very slow to be attentive too. The apps arrived quickly, asked for additional bread which never arrived and waited a while about 20 minutes before four empty plates were cleared off. Then dinner arrived, not too pleased. Did not complain since w we wanted to have a fun evening. The service was slow and poor. Very unfortunate, felt like we were forgotten. Will have to think twice before we return or recommend to others. The food was not as good as before, very displeasing and disappointing.
Lovely atmosphere, great food & service
Great cuisine experience !
From beginning to end the perfect anniversary dinner. Special attention to seating complete with rose petals! Our server was excellent and very helpful with menu selection. Our dinner was cooked to perfection!
This is the second time we have been there and we were very happy with the service and food as much as the first time. Our waiter was friendly and helpful in picking out our dinners. The food was excellent especially the bread pudding. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and relaxing.
Fantastic and romantic evening. Amazing food and ambiance. Great waiter, one of my favorite places to eat and it’s always consistently good every time. Highly recommend!
Food was adequate at best. WAs very disappointed. Service not great either. Waiter brought our entrees but didn't bring our side of fries. We kept waiting for him to come back to ask him about it, but by the time he returned, we had already finished eating our entrees. He boxed the fries up for us to take home, but they are never good re-heated. Disappointing visit.
We went for our anniversary - it was a stellar experience. Would be too expensive for me for an everyday dining option, but I would absolutely go again for a special occasion. The service is stellar, the drinks and food were outstanding and the restaurant not only acknowledged our special occasion, but made us feel as if they were in on the celebration.
Absolutely delicious food and excellent service in a most unusual setting.
First time in New Hope and made reservations based on a friend recommendation and menu looked amazing. We are fans of creole and were just in New Orleans a few months back enjoying the fair. This restaurant failed on so many levels. We had reservations in the dining room but decided to forego our 8:15 Saturday night reservation and found a table in the bar area downstairs. Before I forget, let me state the BEST part of the meal was the extremely large white wine pour served by one of the staff.
Waitress eventually came by and, without any introduction, asked if we were ready to order. No hello, cordial greeting to welcome us, not even her name. (Still don't know the blond waitress name and I'm looking at the receipt right now and says BAR.) We asked a few questions and ordered the Crock of Etouffe for two to start. As a fan of N'Orleans cooking this didn't come close. It was rice spice soup. Not Etouffe. It had no gravy consistency as one would expect. OK, so maybe it's Marsha's take on Etouffe. Waitress eventually comes back and asks us if we're ready to order again. So WE had to ask are there any specials tonight as we heard others at nearby tables being introduced and explained. She then told us about the specials - wife ordered the Special Strip served like a filet with a side of creamed spinach. I ordered the Death by Gumbo. Steak arrives (and yes it was very big) but strange to see a strip looking like a filet but wife cuts in and tastes and she's happy. She was never asked about sauces she may want for her steak. We both dig into the creamed spinach and....AWFUL. COLD and cheesy slop. We immediately send it back and ask for the spicy fries instead. Waitress glad fully takes it back and returns shortly later with them. Hot but WAYYY too much salt and spice. Totally Inedible. As for me, my Gumbo was another watery mess of rice, shrimp and duck leg. Taste was good, but failed in consistency. We won't be going back on our trip next year.
As usual the service, food and atmosphere was exceptional. Terry did a great job of servicing our table with recommendations and suggestions. Not hovering but always available and on top of things. My wife's steak was cooked to perfection. The Death by gumbo with the duck leg was an excellent recommendation. Appetizers were excellent as were the other two courses. This is one of our favorite spots and worth the hour plus drive. The bar downstairs does an equally great job with the various cocktails and wines. Can dine downstairs as well. All around great place to go.
First time there, but no the last. Wonderful experience.
Staff very friendly at bar. Our server was extremely friendly and first class. The restaurant area upstairs
Where we dined was beautiful. Menu had great options and our meal was delicious.
Amazing food with wonderful staff that always go above and beyond.
The welcome we received was so warm and friendly from the valets, hostesses, and the waitstaff. The table was prepared for us with rose petals for our anniversary and we were seated in comfy "loveseats". The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the service friendly, professional, and snappy. My husband's steak was very good, but the jambalaya I ordered was not as tasty as I expected. It was very satisfying however, and I had to take half of it home. It was a lovely experience and I would definitely go there again, and next time I have my eye on the steak!
Overall this was an excellent dining experience we have come to expect from Marsha Browns. Our waiter, Mick, made it all come together. Many thumbs up!
