mar'sel at Terranea Resort
What Insiders Are Saying
Very good resort food with an even better view in Palos Verdes.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Will go again.
Honestly for the price you're paying for the food this place should compete with moderately priced restaurants like the Hillstone group. The food was okay but not great, it was also very small portions. I brought my fiance there to celebrate and we were very disappointed 😔
Excellent meal, excellent views.
Food alway fantastic..service provide by the talented jeffrey is fabulous...the setting completes the trifecta. ..a must go dining experience. ..
Celebrating a birthday
Outstanding quality and service in every way from start to finish along with being a great setting including the magnificent views
Birthday dinner, really great place
Nice view, great lobster salad. Other dishes were...meh. Most problematic, waiter spilled coffee on one of my elderly guests, also had to be reminded a couple of times to bring salad dressing for guest. Unfortunately, the service support staff, though the place was 3/4 empty, was at best, inept. The view was great!
One of the worst meals I had over my trip this past weekend. The main server was pushy, inattentive, and made us feel like an inconvenience. The food had zero imaginative flavor and poorly prepared. Don’t order the jumbo carrots, SO SALTY even after you scrap the salt off the top. Appetizer scallops had sand in them. Filet minion was just a hunk of meat on a plate. Disappointing experience all the way around:
My wife's lobster was terrible. It was tough and almost could not be eaten. The rest of the party had good food. This was our 50th Anniversary and she was very upset about her food. We will continue to go to "The Chart House" for special events like this. We have always had excellent food there. The help there was great and views were outstanding. The event was marginal due to her food quality.
Waiter was nowhere to be seen for about 10 or 15 minutes. I ordered an $84 dry aged New York strip medium rare that looked and tasted like it was boiled. It was one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had let alone when you consider the outrageous price for it. I’ve gone many times to mar’sel for special occasions, and while the service can often be incredibly slow, this was the first bad meal I’ve had. Literally and figuratively left a bad taste in my mouth.
Lovely evening out. Dinner was great and fire was burning and made it nice inside.
Food was great, the environment was great, and te service was great! Always top notch service by Jeffrey and Johnathan!
We went for our anniversary and the staff really made it special.
Beautiful setting and excellent service. Options were plentiful, including an excellent wine list.
We visited Mar'sel for a special birthday dinner and were not disappointed! The food and ambiance was lovely and our server Jeffrey was absolutely the best! Kudos to a great team!
We were seated outside with a wonderful view of the ocean. The staff was always attentive at just the right time. We had the nut and three cheese fruit tray for our appetizer. It was plenty for two adults and two kids. My wife and I enjoyed the perfectly cooked wagyu short ribs. Our daughter had the filet mignon which was good but over cooked. Our youngest had the filet mignon with noodles from the kids menu. We had the signature cote de pot caramel and lemon curd with rhubarb desserts. Both were very good. The kids meal came with vanilla ice cream and a sugar cookie. Overall a pricy ($340) but fun dining experience.
This restaurant is our favorite place in the area for special occasions. The location and the view is unparalleled, the food is excellent, and the service is always top notch. Our server Jeffrey and his colleague Diego took terrific care of us. They were very knowledgeable about the food and wine and were exceptionally warm and welcoming. They definitely helped to make our anniversary a memorable occasion yet again. Thank you!
We loved it all. Joey, Eddie and Jesus were great staff. The food was spectacular.
This is the perfect place for that special occasion. The ambiance is delightful, the service superb and the food exquisitely prepared.
Our experience at Mar’sel was amazing as usual. As always, Jeffrey provides the best service to us, and makes us want to visit again the weekend after! (Which we do by the way) Mar’sel s not only great food, but also service makes our sunday evenings a perfect day. Also a thanks to Jonathan for serving us with manner, and kindness.
Service is amazing and if you're outside, great view. We have dined here 5x before. The food was not up to par. Every dish was lacking and poorly conceptualized. Time for a new chef. Went from one of my favorites to near the bottom.
Claudia!! Superb!!!! The food Superb!!!!!The view, Yes Superb!!!!
The whole package, what can I say? yes Superb!!!
Chef’s special three course meal for $175. Very overpriced. First course: two scallops. Second: seared Branzino filet. Third: two wagyu short rib cubes. Quality of ingredients was very good. Portions were very very small for the price. Preparation was decent. A bit salty and not enough vegetables. Wine pairing was worthwhile.
We have eaten there before and truly enjoyed it, even though it’s quite pricey. However this time my husband’s steak was almost inedible.
But if you want ambience and great attentive service, this is a nice choice.
Five of us ate dinner at Mar'sel a few nights ago. It was a lovely evening so we dined on the patio. The beautiful ocean view definitely adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. We were greeted promptly by our waiter Joey. Joey was an excellent and knowledgeable waiter. The service in general was very good. My objection to the restaurant is with the quality and price of the food. All five of us are 'foodies' and have eaten wonderful food all over the country and abroad. My father-in-law, who eats out six to seven nights a week, could be considered a steak aficionado. He, and my brother ordered the New York Strip. It was so disappointing that he had to send it back, and my brother wished he had done the same. At $84, the steak should have been outstanding. Two of us ordered the filet mignon and it was just okay. Unfortunately, nothing about the meal was memorable. I would not go back.
Service, quality, and presentation of food was less than expected for the cost.
Wonderful food, great service, and the view is beautiful.
Called in to change online reservation, difficult & missed communications. Too many elements to report here.
Day of - to celebrate husband’s birthday - staff was inattentive, we had to engage them more than once, including leaving table to find.
Would have ordered more items if they would have 1) shown up more often & 2) explained the offerings.
Very accommodating manger. Originally group of 8 celebrating my birthday. But family showed up & we were a group of 26! Lobster parpadele was excellent. Elder flower cocktail was perfectly balanced.
Dined in for a birthday, had a great experience! Our waiter Jeffery gave excellent service and went above and beyond. On point with recommendations and pace. 5 stars!
Amazing experience! Quite possibly the best meal I have ever had. The scallops, beef tartare, and cheese board were a perfect start to the night. We got the 32 oz cote de beouf steak carved tableside as well. The meat was cooked perfectly and extremely tender. Cenebio, Eddie, and Diego were elegant and professional. The scenery was perfect with a full moon and stars to create an unforgettable experience. Thank you mar'sel, we will be back.
Make sure you ask for Jeffrey as your server! He’s awesome!!
Our dinner at Mar’sel was fantastic. The food was great, the people were great, and the environment was great. We’d like to thank Jeffrey, our waiter for the best service. His manner, service, and overall personality was so great.
Thank you Jeffrey for the best service.
The service is very slow. Dishes are not consistent. Nothing particularly remarkable. Ambiance is nice but Im not sure its worth the price tag given that the food is just okay.
I was expecting a better experience. Food was ok, but not exciting. Ambiance was ok, not nothing too interesting. Service was average.
The food and service are very good but it's the ambiance that made our evening spectacular and memorable.
Jeffrey was our server. He did an amazing job. This place is NOT cheap but you are paying for the service and food. We will be back.
It was a birthday dinner. Very nice experience!
